Wired Continent of Glukose

Well... does any of you ever thought about the fact that the Glukkons could have their own continent? For my part, I think that when the Glukkons evolved and became industrialists, they developped too much and their continent became all cover by facilities so, there was still no more natural resources to exploit so they felled into a grave economy crisis. When they've found Mudos, they invade him. Am I wrong?

You are completely correct. However, I believe that the continent they came from is real, and has been mentioned in a lot of the games. I think their continent is Called "The Magog Cartel".

However, I am not exactly sure... or exactly right for that matter.

I think that the word "cartel" means organisation or traffic. This can't be the name of their continent, but maybe the name of the Glukkons alliance.

The empire of corporations is the Magog Cartel, not the land itself. A far as I know, every inhabitant seen so far has orignated on Mudos. Keep in mind Mudos is a big ass place. Approximately the size of Asia if I'm not mistaken. However, thre is an assumed glukkon capital of sorts called Nolybab which is where the queen resides.

Lorne said, a long time ago, that Mudos is the same size as Nicaragua (making it the same size as England). It’s a very small place, particularly on Oddworld.

We know Maggie lives in Nolybab because that’s where Molluck was born, and Glukkons are born viviparously (they don’t hatch from eggs). We were able to gather more about Nolybab from the M.O.M. News scenes that we cut from Munch’s Oddysee, but included on the Movies of Oddworld DVD.

p.s. /me doesn’t want to read anything about ‘glucose’ in this thread.

What? The globe on the map showed a huge Mudos. Not the biggest continent, in fact it appeared to be twinned with a similar one west of it, but definitely massive, especially when the planet is supposed to be the size it is.

Also, I'm not sure that a land mass the size of Britain can support the variety of environments it does. It doesn't cover the latitude and doesn't have the space, and I don't think microclimates that extreme can develop so close.

I’m sure I have explained, at your request, BM, the perils of the Oddworld Map. My hat goes off to Rob Brown for making and re‐making it, but I like to think it’s not perfect, especially considering it goes against a fact stated by Lorne.

There’s also a Magog Sign Company. They’re both named after the Magog Cartel, the industrial family that Glukkons constitute, in the same was that Vykkers form the Vykkers Conglomerate.

Well, remember, the way I heard it, the mudokons and glukkons were fighting
Abe's Moon, declaring themselves the chosen people and the mudokons prevailed or something like that. So the glukkon moved into chemistry or alchemy and over probably hundreds of years of greed, the glukkons got
revenge and became the careless industrials we see in the games today.

I never heard of any sign company. What was it called.

And another thing. Lorne put all his attention into making Oddworld interactive
and exciting but he never bothered to tell us, say how many moon did Oddworld have or did they have names and such.

Personnaly, I don't remember where I heard that the Glukkons continent was named Glukose. I just used it for my fan fic (my signature). Also, Lorne can't tell anything about Oddworld for us, we also have to use our Imagination. So, if he said that or not I'll continue to call it Glukose ('cause something is sure, those "big headed bastards" came frome a different continent than the proud Mudokons).

You raise a good point. We know Glukkons lived alongside Mudokons in Mudos before they became industrialised.

It’s called the Magog Sign Company. Check out the rear of the ‘Danger: Flooded Area’ sign in the Hydroponic Vats of Munch’s Oddysee.

Eh. Perhaps it’s worth my pointing out that glucose is a kind of sugar molecule.

In my mind, I believed that Glukkons had came from the same contient as the Mudokons came from. That would be Mudos. Even though the Glukkons technology is different from the Mudokons, I can say that Glukkons probably mo way to make a ship big enough to go through an ocean to get another contient. I can also presume that if they had no plan to destroy land until they all met Mudokons. The whole population would have to have met Mudokons in order to have a world wide grudge against them.

I believe that all of the Glukkon colonies should have had a relationship with Mudokons back then, because if Glukkons never met Mudokons, they couldn’t care less if some paw print was on a moon. They would theorise it was merely a concidence. There would be no Mudokons saying that they are better than everyone else. Also, there needed to have been some gathering for all Glukkons to be on to destroy a good portion of their population. Going over seas to go to a single place doesn't seem reasonble.

:
'cause something is sure, those "big headed bastards" came frome a different continent than the proud Mudokons
Oh, if you knew the Mudokons back then, you would feel bad for the Glukkons and consider the Mudokon like jerks.

And who is Splat? He is the Fan Corner and RPG forum moderator. He made some pretty good RPG back in the day.

Oddworld is a a planet with colossal oceans. It's really more likely the Vykkers came form another continent given the fact they created all of the glukkons' technology.

If I know my history, the Europeans had came over not to get more resources, but to use that opprunity to set themselves with a new life. The Spanish came to South America to find gold, bits of nations with a certain Christainity group came over to make their believes possible, and the Lost Colony people came over to find gold for the English. Then of course, others came to use the space for farming and use of their old jobs. Now what the white man did to the indians is that they traded. They weren't forced to do anything.

And actually, the Glukkons lived on Mudos, they didn't try to find more resources. May I also bring up if it wasn't for the Mudokons, the whole Magog Cartel wouldn't have existed.

No, I'm pretty sure the Vykkers created most if not all of the Magog Cartel's technology. I'm not saying the glukkons are dumb. I'd expect creatures like them to be gifted in other arts, but just look at them, you couldn't expect them to be able to go to a workbench and just invent all of their machinery. And I know the whole deal with the Alchemy age, but that was at a more primitive time.

Well, on this topic, I'm not really sure. I've always pictured species scattered across Oddworld, not particularly confined to any one continent. Glukkons could come from another chunk of land, true. But the real biggie that I just thought of is that part of the Glukkons most probably stayed there.

What I'm saying is that while we see the Glukkons that are dressed in corporate suits, smoking cigars and running macho businesses, there might probably be other subspecies of Glukkons still sitting on their "other continent," in their natural form. Take a look at us, for example, and compare yourself to some African in Ethiopia, eating out of handmade wooden bowls, while you enjoy your dinner out of fine china.
