I think this'll just turn into a bunch of whining and/or flaming. Oh well, might as well get my crap in.
I hate it when those obsessed Christian lunatics stand against something because it 'goes against the Lord' or 'it's Satan-worshipping'
Like the Harry Potter books. I used to go to the little meetings at my resident book store. (Before you all wonder is i'm a freak for doing that, I was 8 at the time - suprisingly, it was pretty cool).
Okay, so I've been going for a few days. Then, whamo, here comes a Bible-thumper. She looks about forty, so she probably isn't completely brainwashed by the Pope or something. Wrong.
Right in the middle of the meeting (I dimly remember picking what my Hogwarts House would be), she goes up, and says,
"Witchcraft is the worship of the devil."
The person in charge of my little Harry Potter fantasy world looks up, sees the Bible, and although I'm not sure after such a long time, I could've sworn she rolls her eyes. We resume. Bible-thumper lady is put out a bit, but keeps going.
"Harry Potter is brainwashing our kids to worship Satan." says she.
By now, I'm about to explode from the stupidity in this conversation. So I speak up.
"Have you even read Harry Potter?" I ask in my cute, high voice.
"I only read the Bible." She says, avoiding the question.
"Yeah, but Harry Potter?"
She looks away. "...No."
"Okay. So why do you think Harry Potter is making me worship the devil?"
"Because it's witchcraft. And witchcraft is devil worship." She says, like a broken record.
I won't bore you with the rest of the details, only saying that I launched into an attempted explanation about how Harry Potter does not make me want to drink sacraficial blood, or kill people for the hell of it. I even go so far as to relate Harry Potter to the Bible, by saying that Harry is kinda like Jesus fighting the devil (Voldemort).
Of course, she punctuates each line with some thous and thees and all that other crap. It goes in one ear and out the other, so to speak.
Okay, so I exaggerated a bit of it, but it's basically what I like to call My Traumatic Expirience With a Brainwashed Christian.
This stuff is popping up more and more. Christians are going nuts over the smallest thing.
It's the same way with all those freakin' parents. They're complaining about all the violence and sex and language in games, and screaming at the people up top to put a stop to it. And they're the ones who took one look at the stuff the kids asked for, whether it was GTA or Manhunt or whatever.
God, I fucking hate those over-protective bastards.
