Abe Oddesey Statue

Dear all,

I bought years ago at a computershop a statue from Abe for myself from GT Interactive. Now i would like to buy one for a good girlfriend of mine, but dont know where to buy one nowadays, does somebody knows where i can buy such statue... it's about 20-30 cm long.

People can make me and my good girlfriend really happy with it.

Thanks for all support and reactions.

Best Regards,

Leo de Bruin.

Hi Manthan/Leo. An officially‐licensed Abe statuette has never been made, but that hasn’t stopped several companies from trying to flog them. Sorry to disappoint you, but the one you have is made by a company completely unaffiliated with Oddworld Inhabitants.
  • Studio Oxmox used to manufacture an Abe model, but were ordered to cease and desist.
  • Mooncrest Models sell an Abe and a Molluck statuette.
  • Someone called Kenneth Lilly once tried to sell Oddworld artwork on eBay claiming they were designs for officially‐licensed models. I confirmed with OWI that all Oddworld artwork is done in‐house, contacted eBay, and the auction disappeared from eBay’s listings.
N.B. This should be posted in the Oddworld Discussion forum, and probably in the Buy Thread.

Thank you Max the Mug for your information, and i found out that i have the Studio Oxmox version, as the other looks quite bad.
Too bad that Oddworld Inhabitants doesn't make a Abe model. It's just a great world in Oddworld. Is there any information about a new Oddworld game in development?

There is sadly no information about a new game on Oddworld at the moment.

I have a statue that i bought from the company "Muckle Mannequins" many years ago. I still have the box and the styrofoam box for it and everything. It is about 18 inches tall and it is of abe standing ontop of a rupture farms barrel. I could possibly part with it, as i stopped collecting oddworld swag a few years ago, but i have no clue what the selling value is for it. Does anybody know what these statues usually sell for?

There is a small picture of me with it on the oddworld fan of the month site here....http://www.oddworld.com/firsttenyear...fan04_04.shtml. That was about 3 years ago or so......

The statue sold by Muckle Mannequins is the one made by Studio Oxmox. The value of it, like most ultra‐cult merch, is purely what anyone is willing to pay for it. Considering it’s not licensed, it shouldn’d be too much. Most fans simply aren’t interested in unlicensed merch.

That figurine was mentioned in the Art of Oddworld book.
I'm surprised there aren't action figures, in a sense. After a movie or something, they could make action figures of all/most characters and species. The sort of quality, maybe, of Alien or Predator figures. I'd spend hours messing around with some Scrab figures and all. 'Tis a true shame. It would rock so much.

And on the other hand max, there may be fans who'd pay anything for that figurine. Particularly since it is the only figure that was ever made of Abe and the best they may ever get. Some will take the chance. The fact it's a boycott may raise or lower the stakes, depending on who's buying it. I say the thing proves Oddworld is, or was at least at one time, big enough to warrant a whole company starting up an unlicenced business of figurines. Who knows.

...and at least we know you could try to get ol' Manthan here to buy it

Indeed, and it’s high on many fans’ merch wishlists. Here’s a short extract from a pamphlet that was handed out at E3 in 2000:

[…] wait until you see the bomb we drop on the world of action figures!

:

Yeah, I know. I was just trying to disuade people from support unlicensed material.

I searched on the site and they had no statues, only Stranger's Wrath, they must have sold out or something.
