OMG! Awesome! Finally, an announcement! I'm sure the film is going to be briliant. Thank you, Max, and of course, Oddblog. *commercial smile*

By "next project" do you mean the one they're working on now, or after what they're working on now?

The one they're working on now, obviously. Otherwise, something else would've been announced first.

I so knew you weren't talking hypothetically last week. Did you ask him my question?

Oh, and regarding CS: Holy cow! Never saw that one coming.

Certainly that's one great way to revive Oddblog.

Well... Our hopes have been killed of having an Abe film. But at least this is another good film. Maybe Lorne wanted to make a more successful game first. Or something else.

Sounds like a movie that will be rated PG-13. Good thing I will be a teenager by the time it is released.

And did Max went to this announcement? Wow, how come I wasn't invited. *Sees invition's little note on the bottom, "For mature people only"* Oh.

Anyway, I will be sure to watch it. And hope it's successful.

The Abe film is still being actively worked on internally at OWI. It’s seeing the light of day probably depends on Citizen Siege's success. I think it'll be PG-13, which is something of a first. Lorne's putting himself on the line by spearheading this, but it would pave the way for other production studios to make the gritty, mature CG films they want to but can't, because there's no proven audience.

I thought it was a game, since I vaguely remember something that was named that. Oh well.

Lorne Lanning has been planning this for a while now actually. He released that he was going to make a game of it in December of 2004, but I guess he decided to make it a game first. So the plot, theme, and characters probably have already been made, and OWI and that other team is working on it right now. But now why would there be a new Oddworld website page, is what I'm curious about...

Edit: OANST, have you been watching kid channels again?

Oddworld is still the main priority for Lorne Lanning...

don't worry about it, they are doing this so they will have more credibility when they will do the abe movie. So they will keep 100% of the decisions internally, and don't have to compromise the abe movie.

trust me they realy know what they are doing.

and everything they do, they do it to bring you the Abe movie you want to see so bad

Xav’s right, Citizen Siege will give Oddworld Inhabitants the power and leverage in Hollywood they need to produce an Oddworld feature film and retain 100% creative control. They’re not going to force Oddworld onto the screen if it’s been ravaged by anyone who thinks they know what it should be.

Citizen Siege is very gritty and very powerful, and because it’s set on Earth it’s going to hit closer to home than Oddworld could. We all love Oddworld’s reflection of our world, but once people turn off the games they can easily distance themselves from the characters. You can’t see Mudokons being oppressed all around you, but you see people giving away their civil liberties, and that’s what Citizen Siege is showcasing.

That said, OddBlog has a press release about the new partnership between OWI and Vanguard. Enjoy!

Actually I agree with Max. Sure, I'm disappointed that we won't see the Oddworld film as soon as we thought, but better take the risks on another story than our (and their) beloved Oddworld.

Everyone needs to shut up and quit whining. I think this is great news; and its sure as hell better than nothing. I belive its best for OWI to go off and make a film like this first, as apposed to going flat out and creating a movie off of Abe with no credidations in the film making feild at all. If they where to go and do that, and the film dosen't go as well as expected it could be the last of Oddworld we ever see. They need to test the waters first and not ruin something awesome that should be done right.

I think that OWI knows how to create quality pieces of work and this will be none the different. I know everyone was expecting something else but I for one would love to see what else OWI has to offer.

I just read the press release. Cool. I feel beter already.

I do hope there are subtle nods to Oddworld, such as corporate logos, childrens toys, and graffiti during during the film.

Happy

You know this morning I was very sad to hear this news, and wasn't sure about posting in this thread at all, but after hearing this input,:

:

and an acticle that I read, I honestly really am feeling much better about the matter. I Thank You Oddsville for changing my insight on this.
Thank you Max and Xav, for your always informative news.
And of course Thank You Oddworld Inhabitants for giving us some updated information, and proceeding to make us all a film.

Anyways, I agree this is excellent news, and it is even better that they might be working on the Abe film simultaneously with Citizen Siege.

Here is the article on the Film:
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/...OPeghUxg%3D%3D

It states that there will be a followup video game deal, but that will not be a secured agreement, until the film contract is official.
It says that they will be working on both the game and the film at the same time, as well, to have them launched together... so I don't know what is happening to the Abe film right now.

I'm going with Oddsville on this one. At least Lorne didn't come by with a fish and spanked us all, while laughing. With a sign saying, "Burn down OWI!!" Ooo, that free time of mine getting ideas now.

Anyway, I was a little surprised to hear that the movie would not be Oddworld, but the plot seems awesome. Dark plot, exciting character, and a story that makes me want to give the government a dirty look. Plus, I think that will be the first CGI movie that is PG-13. Or am I wrong? Probably, but still, one of the first.
