THAT was some freaky sh*t

Yesterday we got hit by this big ass storm that had prouduced a tornado when it first hit the state about two hours before hitting are town. Although it had weakend to a point where it couldn't make a tornado anymore when the front of the storm hit you coud SEE the clouds rotating like a funnel cloud! I thought a tornado was going to drop down any moment. My dad is having an episode trying to get my brother, sister, and baby sister into the basment, I'M having an episode because that's the closest thing to a tornado I've ever seen not to mention the line of clouds are over are house and if a tornado did drop down are house is doomed. The tornado sirens arn't going off but we all were freaking out anyway, I'm running around upstairs grabbing all my memory cards to my games (Over three hundred hours on half those games I'm not giving up all my hard work to a tornado

)

Thankfully it passes and the rest of the storm is mostly normal, My mom get's home from work safe (Yay

), we don't have to spend the night in the bastment, and I had a panic attack for nothing

.

The only other interesting thing that happened was the watertower near are house got struck by lightning while I was looking but it wasn't very interesting anyway.

So has anyone else ever had tornado problems like this?

When I was 6 or 7 years old, I watched a tornado form right before my eyes. Although I'm pretty sure the actual image of the tornado forming is distorted in my memory (It seemed like it was a mere ten feet in front of us), the details of the situation are still vivid. Everything went dark, terrifying me and my mother, as we were driving home in the storm. I can remember the clouds swirling around and all that.

I was so terrified but so young that my solution was to get out of the car and run, but fortunately, after my mom snapped out of her shock, we turned around in the middle of the road and drove in the opposite direction. Fast.

We went back to the mall, which had no electricity, and waited it out with a large group of people. As we drove home, I looked at all the damage (trees blown over is all I actually remember) and being the cute little girl that I was, I kept telling my mom how mean I thought the tornado was. ^_^

There are tornados around my area sometimes. Don't think one has ever specifially touched down in my city, but definitely in the area. If I remember correctly, one actually went through the downtown area of Fort Worth a few years back. Caused quite a bit of damage. But for the most part, all I have to worry about is flooding from heavy thunderstorms, or the occasional hail. I live too far down tornado alley for anything really juicy.

We don't have many of them up here in MN anymore but when I was 11 years old we had what was called The Super Storm. It thunderstormed for three days straight. I think there was something like 11 tornados and over 30 funnel clouds.
It rained so much that peoples basements were flooding and they were being told that there were funnel clouds and to go to their basement but they couldn't. I don't remember how many people died but some drowned and some were killed by debris.
We lived in a trailer back then and were driving to my aunts when I looked up above the lake by where she lived and saw three funnel clouds forming from one giant cloud. It was gnarly but I was scared and started to cry.

A few years back I went to Missouri to visit a friend and saw a tornado that looked like a huge black wall far off in the distance. We booked it to his house and got there to the basement...thank gawd! It didn't pass thru his town but we hung out there just in case.

I am glad you and your family are all ok. Just so's ya know...I'd grab the memory cards too. Thats alot of work to lose.

We have had one exceptional storm in the time I'm living here. The wind was extremely strong, rain cam down HARD, and them suddenly the rain stopped. We all went outside, since it was so dark, on mid day. When we looked towards the clouds, we could see some thick, DARK-GREEN clouds rolling towards the north, while some reddish clouds went south. When they hit eachother, the green ones just rolled over the reddish ones. Spectacular sight. They started rotating as well, so I was like: "Wow, that may form into a tornado, if the wind was stronger". That was some scary shit. Never saw that before, and never saw it afterwards.

Yeah, I've seen a tornado before, somewhere near the border between Romania and Hungary. I was like 9 or 10, on a highway/road in the middle of nowhere. Scary as hell, the whole sky was dark grey and blackish. I saw a tornado in the distance going parallel to our car. It wasn't a "mature" tornado but it was at least 4 metres. There was also really heavy rain.

Hmm...We had green clouds when the storm was close to passing over, then the sky was yellow while it stormed it was strange since everything turned yellow then it was red after the storm was reaching the end. This mostly happpened since the sun was going down not to menton we had three rainbows on top of each other the whole time but we were to busy panicing to care

Ya know...
I've had many experiences, but not one of a tornado.
And damn-straight, am I glad I've never seen one, or I'd crap my pants. O.O
But yeh...many warnings and watches, but I've never seen a tornado.

I live in the wonderful Treasure Valley, therefore, no tornados.

Sheesh we've got tornado watches for the all of wisconsion and they have a tornado warning upstate right now and is heading for us...time to round up the memory cards again!

Ha, you all get owned by tornadoes.

We never get such things here in hilly western Pennsylvania. That's not to say we don't have our fair share of threats. Sometimes the river floods the lower part of my town. And if it rains hard enough, the dam breaks and you can kiss the entire township good bye.

I can't get any bananas because cyclone Larry wiped out most of Australia's crop. Now they cost about $AU13 a kilo - that's *pulls out calculator* $US4.1 a pound!!!

I know that doesn't really compare with having your house destroyed by a tornado or anything but I'm really hungry right now.

We are so freak'n lucky! The storm just hit town right after the sun went down because it got dark the storm lost most of it's strength and broke up over town. Of course we still had to deal with a storm but no tornados. Other then that I saw a tree a few houses down get struck by lightning (We have alot of large trees around where we live) And I almost lost my damn hearing from the thunder after it! It didn't start on fire or anything but I checked it this morning while heading for the bus (To go to exams! Bleh

) and you can see a line running down the trunk and a good half of the tree is dead. I still don't understand why it didn't start on fire

At least you get red Squirrels (not stupid evil unnatural grey's) and wild cats. I have a sink-pond with Sticklebakcs, though, which rocks. I have some more...'worrying' things in my garden, but they might put you off your dinner. Some, anyway.

Well we just got hit by a tornado! From what I heard my school's trashed *YESSSS* we can't get down there to see because they have everything blocked off. The tornado bells went off while I was getting my memory cards again

It looked fine here but my Grandma who lives on the other side of town said it look horrible, her friend who was right in the way of the tornado called and said she saw the funnel and debre coming at her house! Worse of all he got another tornado making storm coming are way. I'll tell some more latter when it over and I get to see the damage. (Thank god I live on the other side of town!)
