Statikk's Movies to Stay Away From.

Lion's Gate really did a great job of whoring themselves out with this muddled and poorly paced flick. They got it a big showing America-wide and gave the film to every major reviewer and it paid off.
My biggest beef is that its way too hard to follow. Everyone receives these revelations and profound life experiences that intricately intertwine with everyone elses...in about ten poorly placed, shot, and paced minutes.
They also make Asian people look like assholes in the film and Dillon's role sucks big time and is overacted and preachy.
This is worth a dollar halfsies rental with a bunch of your drunk buddies to MST3k it.
On my rating scale...
0-1: Battlefield Earth with man ass
1-2: Battlefield Earth
3-4: A Val Kilmer Batman movie.
5-6: This is hard but I'm going with Titanic.
7-8: Pretty good, movies you liked as a kid but still dig now like the Goonies, Sandlot, stuff just a cut above the rest but missing that something to put it over the top
9-10: teh kickass, Goodfellas, all those 'Nam movies from the 80s, 90s, major culturally significant blockbusters like Star Wars, Jaws, Jurassic Park, cult movies that you love like Falling Down, Repo Man, and Army of Darkness.
I give Crash a 6 and there is no way it should have got film of the year

This should just be an overrated movie thread. I've been meaning to start a thread like this for a while.

2001: A Space Odyssey. Quite possibly the most overrated film I've ever seen. Yeah, the parts with HAL, or whatever the hell that robot's name is, are moderately interesting, because you get to see some pretty spiffy interaction between humans and advanced AI. As for the everything before that, too drawn out. And the ending? Can we say "pretentious?"

Wow. Five minutes of multi-colored shots of an eyeball and a moving landscape. Genious.

I just saw crash, and I thought it was an amazing movie.

One of the worst I can say, probably Dream catcher. Yes it's Steven king and blah blah blah. But the characters were so simplistic and happy-go-lucky that I felt like vommiting. And oh god, what a horrible ending, nothing better than watching two slug like aliens fornicating eachother with their tails.

I remember early on in school career seeing 2001: A Space Odyssey on a book report list. I was amped about something like that so I took. Goddamn, that book was boring!
The HAL parts, especially how HAL was killed were cheesier than Chester Cheetah in a kiddie pool of Velveeta listening to Manowar albums.
The book even had the balls to say it was the "best science fiction novel of all time".
Back on topic, though.
The Saw movies are so effing overrated. I had somebody say they put it up there with Silence of the Lambs and Se7en as one of the best serial killer movies of all time.
The movies had shitty acting and terrible lens/camera work. To top it all off: easy to see "twists", the second one especially.

I personally was not impressed with Texas Chainsaw Massacre (A.K.A Texas Chainstore Manicure), but that's mostly because I'm jaded to blood and gore.

In my opinion, stay the hell away from Labrynth (sp?) and The Never-Ending Story. I'm still pissed that I wasted precious time watching those god-awful excuses for movies.


I probably have more on my "To Hate For The Rest of Eternity" list, but I can't think right now, I have to catch my bus.
