vBulletin

Wow! I just found out how mumch it costs to host a vBulletin forum. A licensce plus installation comes to like $295.00. Not to mention that you need your own server/domain. I just wanted to say to the founders of OWF that I really appreaciate them making this forum.

V-bulletin is darn expensive yea... but not 300 bux O.o.
It's 85 bux a year. Still expensive though.

I was under the impression with vBulletin you could purchase an indefinite lifetime membership, good for only one forum per purchase and beyond that the only additional fees you pay are for hosting and domains.

I'm probably wrong, by sounds of things.

Hah, even with those lower estimated costs, it's still more than I'd pay for any of you.

Does Abe Babe still pay for hosting/whatever? I mean... I don't quite understand why someone would pay for something he or she never uses anymore.

I think Alcar took over the payment =/.

Tom: Yea you can buy a lifetime membership, but that costs a lot more money and you still pay for updates and stuff. Paying by the year is cheaper IMO.

The initial purchase of vBulletin was US$160, which is rather expensive if you ask me. From then on, you have to pay an additional fee each year if you want to recieve upgrades. As far as upgrades are concerned, I'm not sure if they are still being paid for, or if when they need to be paid.

The hosting is covered by myself. It's not too pricey when paid monthly, but it all adds up. Especially when you're saving for a car

Yes, Sydney and I live in the state of New South Wales (I live in a suburb of Southern Sydney, while the actual person, Sydney, lives in North Western Sydney). Abe Babe resides in the state of Victoria, in a suburb of Melbourne (not too sure how far away from the CBD she is).

Pure Edward de Bono for you: Comets orbit the sun but not everything orbiting the sun is a comet.

Similarly: The important members live in Sydney (or Melbourne) but not everyone in Sydney is important. Everyone but for Mudling, I'd say.

EDIT: that's probably a little random for anyone who wasn't forced to read that damn EdeB story when they were in year 8.
