1 cat: Optimum house cat level. Prefer a male cat in this instance, but whatever.
2-4: We're creeping dangerously into the dreaded "Too many mothereffing cats!" state.
5-7: My patience is frayed with these cats and their allergens, preposterous demands of affection when I'm doing something else.
8+: Danger, Will Robinson! Anything at or beyond 8 catwise is insanity. The constant refilling of dishes, litter box emptying, in-fighting, and screwing makes this totally unacceptable.
And no, I'm not a "dog person", either.
