Metroixer, the moon would not revolve that fast. Not even close. From the time of Abe standing ontop of a cliff to the time of him jumping down and landing...... it could not revolve even close to that amount of time. It would take Abe about 4 Seconds for this process and a moon can't revolve half way around in 4 seconds.

You can see Abe's Moon in the Free-Fire Zone. It's down in a secret area. I don't remember a moon in the final screen before the FMV, but keep in mind the camera during gameplay doesn't show what's ahead of Abe, and when Abe jumps down he sees the Moon in front of him.

I do think the films will retcon some established Oddworld lore. What with Lorne saying how Abe's lips were stitched by Sam when we know Abe was hatched in RuptureFarms and Sam is kept by Vykkers, I am quite certain, and I'm not disappointed at all. I haven't come across a story that hasn't changed between different media. The film will allow the story to be infused with greater depth and synergy, and I expect Lorne to take full advantage of this possibility.

Perhaps game developers will start clawing for the chance to derive a game from the popular film, but since Lorne still owns all rights to the Oddworld universe, I don't expect him to lend those rights to anyone who is merely going to cash in and not produce something worthy of existence.

Now about these moons. I'm not the biggest fan of all Quintology heroes having their own moon. By the reveal in Munch's Oddysee it had already started to seem rather contrived. By the last chapter won't we all just be waiting for the reveal so it can get over and done with and we can forget about it? There is the question of why they even need their own moons. Abe's Moon makes sense: it has a background. It's responsible for the conflict between Mudokons and Glukkons to begin with, but Munch's Moon doesn't seem to make any sense. Maybe it does have its own history which we just haven't been told about, but without that it just seems silly. One idea suggested by someone which I kind of liked was that Munch would have his own lake, which, seen from above, would have the shape of his foot, perhaps.

First of all, I would like to know where this secret area is, because I dont think it exists. I have never encountered it but I have saved all 99 Mudokons many, many times.
Second, you can for sure see Abe's Moon on the last screen, but it does not have a print on it.
And third, Munch's Moon Does have a purpose. A very big one actually, it represents Munch saving Gabbits from extinction! (And another purpose that might not be true, but I think its a good one: It also represents Munch meeting Abe, temming up and becoming good pals while they destroyed Vykkers Labs and "Stuck it to the Vykkers and saved the day!")

Well obviously it represents Munch and all he accomplishes, but it doesn't have an actual role in the story that we know of. Aside from Munch staring up at the night's sky and thinking “I'm awesome,”, we haven't had any evidence that the moon is responsible for a change in events as Abe's Moon was millennia ago in driving the Glukkons to their Alchemy Age.

Commence guessing! :

Isn't it possible that the gabbits and mudokons have some kind of bond between them. I mean sure in MO abe needed Munch's help in saving the eggs, but why a gabbit? Why not just pick some other specie out of the random? Or maybe another fellow mudokon that can use some natural oddworldian object which he can use to travel in water. Why would abe even care about Munch? In what I remember in the last FMV in MO the moons were next to each other. There must be a purpose for that. Anyway that is my theory.

Retiring from full-time game production to try other things, like making movies.

Some kind of bond between the Gabbits and Mudokons seems possible. Munch's Exoddus was going to have explored the dysfunctional relationship between the two races. I suspect part of that would have been the Mudokons living on the Mongo River worshiping the annual return of the Gabbits to Ma'Spa.

As for why Munch is so necessary, I suppose it does come down to fate. The Almighty Raisin explains that its their destinies that lie together. More pragmatically, I suppose, is the fact that, having been captured by the Vykkers, Munch is the perfect candidate for wanting revenge on them and rescuing the Fuzzles. He's more wont to feelings of vengence, whereas Mudokons tend to be rather naïve and pathetic. The moons seem to be indicative of this fate between the two individuals, but as far as we know they've had no bearing on the two races as a whole.

I do think that, maybe, more of Munch's uniqueness and importance might have been left out of Munch's Oddysee because of familiar excuses, maybe such as his transformations into Roid and his ability to scour Vykkers Labs while he was kept as a lab animal - he would have met or seen Sam, for instance.

I think Munch and Sam was supposed to have some kind of connection, whether it's something to do with their head gear or some sympathetic relationship. I remember seeing an image of some drawn story boards showing a scene with Munch and what it appeared to be Sam.

i for one agree that it was fate and the almighty raisin was correct in saying that munch and abes destinies lied together, abe helped munch get the last can of gabbiar, and munch helped abe get the labor eggs, as for the two moons i am agreeing with max, one question who is sam i feel like ive heard of him before?

and to Oddish, right, Sam and Munch do sympathise because they both have an alien deviece in their head.

I like that story a million times better than the other one where a meteor shower made the shape of Abe's moon right before he escaped Rupture Farms.

Hopefully the film will have some backstory on Abe's moon...then we can finally have something solid.

I would think they'd keep it as a spiritual mystery in the film. Talking about millenia old near-irrelevant history is probably too self-indulgent for the first film, especially as the moon is not all important to the plot.

One thing I hope that will be eveident in the movie is quality script. I think the conversations in the game are great. Especially glukkonese stuff, but I honestly think they should knock off the silly humor, like all pf the cartooney noises when Abe hits his head on something. Or how he sounds like a headless chicken when his tatoos are being bolted on him. I think they should have some humor sort of like in shrek, how something so unscene pops up in this fairy tale esque production.

On another note, what do you think will affect the popularity of this movie? From it's oddworldness, it sounds kind of like 12 Monkeys. Which was a huge sucess despite its extreme lack of funding.

Yeah, but twelve monkeys was coolio, in an odd "YAR DEPRESSING MOVIES COOL //_-" kind of way.

Lack of funding? How did they get Bruce Willis?

I don't believe so many of you are doubting whether the movie will be CGI or cartoon/live action. Due to Lorne's credentials and the Oddworld FMVs, I'd have thought it obvious that the movie will be CGI (boy will my face be red if it aint).

On the subject of childish humor, I've always found guilty pleasure in actually enjoying Oddworldian slap stick. The conversations and Glukkon talk are many times greater, but when I see Abe getting knocked around, something about the expressions accompanied by the cartoonish sound effects right in the middle of this whole dank, dark universe just makes me laugh.

I certainly hope the movie retains its dark feel, but I'm a fan of pretty much all the humor like that displayed in Exoddus. I love that in such an expansive world, the Oddworld crew doesn't take themselves too seriously. It's part of what gives that Oddworld 'vibe' we're always talking about. And who knows, the mixed array of humor and style presented in the movie may attract audiences of all ages to see the film.

No idea. We've only seen her with it. Could be something to do with her suicidal depression and mood swings, or could be something to do with her pill popping.

:

Funnily enough, that image was in a magazine called XBM, which featured unique photos of Oddworld Inhabitants at work. The interview they calimed as their own was actually stolen from an issue of PS PRO which was released a long time earlier. Only just now, years after their release, have I noticed they're both published by the notorious Paragon Publishing. I'd give you dates, but stupid Paragon Publishing never put any kind of date on their publications. Morons.

:

I would too, but we're big fans highly familiar with Oddworld and deeply desperate to see more and more of it. I would much rather the film allows OWI to reach out and really get the attention and appreciation of the world, and I think Shrink is right to consider such a backstory to be somewhat pretentious.

:

I'm in two minds about the childish humour. The excess of cartoonish music cues really grates with me, but the slapstick can go either way. If it's accompanied by metalic boings and twangs (e.g. when Abe and Munch first bump into each other) it's incredibly inane, but if it's somewhat realistic (e.g. pressing the jump button when standing at the edge of a screen, or Stranger running into a wall), it's muchly funny. I'm impartial to farting, though.

:

It's not that many people, but any at all is unbelievable enough.

It sure is fun to gather wool but we haven't gotten confirmation of an in production movie, nor people working on said film. The owners of OWI haven't stepped forward to confirm anything, so lets not get carried away. no projected budget, no projected release date, no potential actors. We're mentally masturbating over this quite fiercely considering how little we have to go on.

Assuming her hands can reach her head, I guess she just puts the pills in her mouth. I doubt the Vykkers would have any ethical problems in giving them to her. Maybe they even started it to keep her alive and she got addicted. As for suicide, perhaps she can kill herself by repeatedly slapped herself on the head, like other Mudokons hilariously can.

We know there is a completed Abe screen play, and that is the film Lorne has been wanting to make for over a decade, so I'm placing all my bets on it being Abe.

I hope it is Abe (it probably will)

How many do you think they should make? I mean if Abe is first then Munch and Abe then Stranger and who ever is in the next games.

Or should it be a Trilogy, Abe, Munch and Abe, Stranger.
Or should there be more.
