The prospect of reading almost a hundred posts scares the willies out of me, even if it's a great subject, so I'll just answer the original question by saying I respect bisexual people as being people who are physically attracted to members of both sexes. Hetero- and homosexual people often get confused when they find themselves attracted to a member of the unexpected sex, but I know that's fine and normal, so it makes perfect sense that there's a vast middle ground to cover between the two monosexual extremes.
That said, I don't think for one instant there aren't swarms of people calling themselves bisexual to get attention. They probably believe themselves, too. I'm positive I know a few.

anyone no matter how straight you are could possibly fall for the same sex

I disagree.

It's not so much that it's a possibility for any given person. It's more that there's a possibility, because it happens so often in a large number of people, that one might be susceptible to the same anomaly. It's just tricky to know whether it's a possibility or not unless it actually happens.
That's AS Statistics 1 talking. Sheesh.
