As far as I know, I've seen a video interview with McKenna. Back in 2003? I can't remember clearly.
But she has spoken at least once.

I think the last time she spoked was in an interview on CGnetworks, about the making of SW's cinematics, which somewhere in this year.

I also think the next time we'll get some solid on oddworld will be somewhere around December. Oddworld are probably to busy with moving to another location to think what have plans they got for oddworld and related stuff and there new direction.

I dont like being left in the dark on information especially since Oddworld Inhabitants kept such a tight lid on Stranger's Wrath for like two years or more. I hope December would be the start of a lot more information coming the fan's way.

I, too, hope this. But I don't really see it happening. I'm not getting all hyped up for anything. All I expect is something by December 2006. Otherwise, I'm all good.

But yeah, nothing after that and Lorne must have commited sepuku. Or at least employment sepuku.

He has said loads of times since Stranger's Wrath that they're doing things, that the Abe screenplay is going ahead; that they're continuing games using other developers, etc, etc.

Of course, I also want more information, but don't say they haven't said anything! For ****s sake, people.

I think it's somewhat disgusting that Lorne claims that his fans are so important to him, and then decides to uproot the proverbial plant and chuck it on the bonfire without saying a single thing about it, except for a cheap explanation speech that it's dead cause the games that they had started churning out were crap. But other than that no word on what is happening, whether anything will be done, or what the future holds for the company.

So I just assumed that it was dead and that lorne doesn't have the guts to admit it. That's the only reason that I can think of for why he isn't saying anything. But still even then it's kind of lame that he can't be honest to his fans. The ones he supposedly "cares about".

Yes, he is said to be a creative, innovative, mind blowing game designer and that is what he used to be. But I fear money has consumed his game talents and replaced it with an immortal desire for money and a mind whos only goal for Oddworld now is to keep the series going until it just conks out.

I think I understand why he hasn't delivered on many of his promises. I have the exact same problem.

I've had ideas for comic series that I've wanted to do, and I've had a LOT of them. The fact is that I just can't keep up with a lot of the ideas I get. I become mentally swamped and feel like I have too much going on at once in my head, so I sort through the crappy ideas until I get to a good, small list of what's possible and what's not.

Lorne's problem, as I see it, is that he gets very excited about his ideas and tends to tell people about it before the proverbial bomb hits him and he realizes it's not going to happen.

I remember someone saying that Lorne never came through with Sligstorm because he didn't like the idea.

Hand of Odd might have been shelved for a later date, since Lorne never gave us a reason why it's not happening.

Fangus was shelved, but most likey will not happen because it's basically a "mow-through shooter," something Sherry would never allow for Oddworld.

Now, take into account that he's got a forum full of fans (and at times, me included) yelling at the top of their cap-lock, "WE WANT ODDWORLD NOW! MAKE IT HAPPEN MAGICALLY AND OUT OF THIN AIR, LORNE!"

People, you can't expect some of these games to happen right away RIGHT AFTER they've been promised, because games take time. You can't expect Lorne to make good on every single thing he's talked about. He's not a machine. He's got a life outside of Oddworld.

He's not some lying, money-grubbing, conniving scumbag, he just has trouble keeping up with his ideas. It's unfair to expect him to be giving us quality games like the kind he's famous for and do it all in the amount of time that the forum members expect him to. He's most likely under a lot of pressure as it is with the movie, and for us to whine and cry because we're not getting something while he's got his hands tied is just selfish.

And he's probobly under enough stress as is without you blasting him like that, Dino. Besides which, I thought you didn't like / care about Oddworld. Suddenly you do?

His whole stance on everything was antigreed. Well, thats the message I got across from his Oddworld games. In AO: You were a guy who was destined to bring down the money hungry Glukkons who killed the sacred wildlife to gain moolah. In AE: You were to bring down another corporation who was using Abe's ancestors bones in an energy drink TO GAIN MONETARY FLOW. Do you see where I'm getting here?

You play as the underdog bringing down the evil industrialists of the land.

I agree, but just because you can lay down a path, doesn't mean you will follow it. What I'm saying is is that he sees the horribe problems in our world and he expressed the severity of them in the Oddworld Series, but now I just think he might be using the games to just get rich.

Firstly, Lorne wanted to realease his first Oddworld game so that the gaming market had something different, not just a product to gain money.

He has indeed expressed the horrible problems in this world, perfectly. And in these games that he has portrayed indutrialism as an evil ploy. Would you spend a year and a half on an anti-deforestation movie to just then after its production, cut down a forest?

People are just getting bad views of Lorne because of these OWI shenanagins.

I definatelythink they should of cancelled the fps. I don't think OW was meant to be all bang bang boom boom. I think a strategy game would be a great addition or maybe a game like Animal Crossing Oddworld style.

My frustration, at least, stems from concern. As dipstikk has eloquently put it, Lorne Lanning has many large ideas that he gets excited about, and boy, can I relate to that... but oftentimes they don't pull through. Knowing that he has a set project, and that he is working on that, would put a lot of people at ease. Despite his assurance that Oddworld Inhabitants still exists, they went underground, and have closed the site's updates down entirely. Alf is gone, so there is no fan relations at the moment, and the company dropped off the map. Knowing his tendency to accidently stretch himself a little too thin sometimes, I think that makes fans wonder if plans have already fallen through, and we just don't know it. We may be impatient sometimes, but a message from OWI informing us that they are working on their next project would be a smart move. I can see why they would be afraid to stick their necks out and make promises that can't be kept, but just being honest about their hopes would be good press. Stranger had barely any press at all, and it hurt them. If there is going an Abe's Oddysee movie, I want to see teaser posters and trailers, I want people whispering excitedly about this new, strange movie set to come out at such-and-such a time, and i want it to grab the attention of people who may have never heard of Oddworld before. I have said it before, and I'll say it again: when I hear for certain that there will be an Abe's Oddysee movie and it has been green-lit, I will a) scream and b) throw a party, in that order.

Also, right now, games are not going to be the next project. That we DO know. Lorne's staff is gone, and he said that a project like a movie or TV show could help him get a game greenlit, but that if it were, it would be outsourced. So, I think video games should be furthest from our minds in terms of waiting for news on his next project.
