Well guys and gals OWI is planning on a new future in the development of Oddworld. They are moveing to Berkley for perhaps a film studio. I say development because Lanning wants to persue new media beyond the realm of games. Which to me is a bold move on his part.
You probabally already know this by now that OWI is officially closeing its doors in San Luis Obispo to persue a brighter future for Oddworld. I thought I bring light to this and discuss what may actually be in store for us in the future.
If nobody knows about this news which I highly doubt, here is the Lanning interview to confirm that this is official.

The title of this interview is rather unieque and scary seemingly that OWI is not in paticular "ending" but moveing on media wise to something totally different. Perhaps films which I truely hope because if you ask me the gameing industry is starting to become corrupt and the media lacks depth with character development and story telling. Lanning is all about creativity and story telling and with the way the gameing industry is these days I feel it lacks that. Now before you guys disagree with me here ask yourself this. Do you honestly think its in OWI's best intrest to keep on makeing more games, changeing publishers, changeing consols, and just winning awards everytime they make a new game because it looks pretty? If you ask me that is not original and creative. I sense Lanning's persument for his true vision of Oddworld, and games are proventing him from doing that. Maybe at first it worked but now games are starting to weigh down on him. He needs to get out of there and do something different.
I am in total agreement with this issue. I say the best media is films. If film is the promising media for Lanning's vision then this is indeed a great move for him. Quite frankly to be honest with all of you I am getting a bit tired of Oddworld games. Oh don't get me wrong I am a die hard Oddworld fan infact I am looking to try to get a job with them but never mind that. Its just that I feel OWI needs this. OWI needs to do this in order to stay alive in its amazeing creations. Film is the next level in media and I feel OWI is ready to take on this. Its different but exciting none the less. The interview is right it does sound like an Oddworld Fan's dream come true. At least for me it does.
What do you think?
