Capture Images from Movies

Hey, I'm having troubles capturing pictures from movie files, particularly QuickTime .mov files. I try to capture it by doing the usual Print Screen, but to no avail.

I've seen some people get captures from .mov files, and was wondering what on Earth you use?

you'd need a capture card or the capabilities of a capture card on your graphics card.

i think there are some programs that do it, though.

Same here, just shows a black screen. But the movie that you can capture are the ones that you can save, and open the movie file in Window Movie maker. It'll let capture a shot.

Some DVD programs allow you to take screen carptures by the click of a button, without pressing print screen, so try opening it through a DVD program and take the screen capture through that.

I've got a program, called photoimpression, wich makes you capture the screen as a function. I is no freeware you have to buy it, but it does work

I don't know if I am allowed to give the website.... but if I am, just say so...

Im pretty sure the Print Screen button works properly in the Realplayer. If it doesn't, try a program that actually has a 'capture screen' button in its GUI, such as PowerDvd.

I ended up downloading at least ten different programs, all to no avail. I think half of the problem is my crappy computer / OS. Thankyou everyone, in the end, I found a program that will convert stuff to realplayer

I remember I had that kind of problem, so done some research on it. It's to do with how movies are displayed using DirectX which causes a bypass when you use the traditional Print Screen method. I have a program called Media Player Classic which has a screen capture facillity, but I don't know if it would work for .mov files. I've only used it with DVDs and .avi files.

The other thing I found sometimes works is to open up two media players at once [i.e. Windows Media Player and RealPlayer] and play both movies. For some reason this sometimes allows the Print Screen method to work.
