Saving the world from Ishtar.
(OOC: This is the result of one of the exercise fics we do in MSN Messenger)
*Dark Hood and Dragadon are in ARAT, talking to each other. Since Hak is going to be missing for a while, Ishtar is missing. Dark Hood's mobile phone rings*
Dark Hood says:
Oop, phone call.
*Awnswers it*
Hello?
Bladewing: "It's me! I think I've found Ishtar!"
Dark Hood says:
You have?
Dragadon says:
*perks up interest* you did!? *waits eagerly for the news*
Bladewing: "Yeah! Hold on a minute. . . I'll put a tracking beacon near her to keep and an on her, and I'll pick you two up."
Dark Hood says:
Ok.
*Hangs up*
Dragadon says:
ok
*A little while later, Bladewing warps in*
Bladewing: "Ready to go?"
Dragadon says:
*bounces* yes yes!
Bladewing: "Okay."
*They warp onboard Bladewing's ship and make our way to the bridge*
Zip: "You got them, bro? Okay, hold on tight, lets go!"
*Bladewing gets into his place on the bridge. Dark Hood and Dragadon hold onto something*
Zip: "We saw her hanging out in Dark Hood's wood. . ."
Dark Hood says:
Beckney wood?!?!?
Zip: "Yeah, that's it."
Dark Hood says:
But. . . Why there out of all places?
*Dragadon wonders if she was taking out her frustations on the developers...*
Zip: "Oh, and the housing develpoment is deserted, since it's Saturday, but the strange thing is that there were no secruity gaurds around."
Dragadon says:
really? no guards? hmmm, I wonder if Ish had soemthing to do with that?
*We arrive at our destination and exit the ship. A copule of the houses are on fire*
Dark Hood says:
Oh boy. . .
Dragadon says:
um... oh dear...
Dark Hood says:
We'd better make ourselves scarce while I call the fire bragade.
Zip: "That won't be nessesarry, the ship is equipted with snowballs"
Dark Hood says:
Well hurry up and put the fire out!
Dragadon says:
hmmm...
Zip: "Okay, okay!"
*Bladewing, Zip and Max enter the ship again*
Bladewing (As the door closes): "Try looking for Ishtar whilst were doing this."
Dragadon says:
is it me? or does this forest look a lot thicker then I remember it last? Not to mention larger?
Dark Hood says:
It's a wood, not a forest, but yeah, it does look a bit more thicker.
*The ship flies up and blasts a huge spray of snow onto the houses. We get cold standing nearby*
Dragadon says:
*shivering* im a sky dragon not an Ice dragon *trots over toward the development area*
*Ice develops near and around the houses. Dark Hood follows*
*The ship lands when they are done putting the fire out*
*The hosues suffered serious fire damamge, and are covered in snow*
*they see a tractor impiled on a tree, 50 feet off the ground..*
Dragadon says:

Dark Hood says:
Yeesh! What has Ishtar done?
Dragadon says:
um...this is just a guess.... but i think she decided to revert this area to the way it was before all this development...
*Dark Hood sees that nearly the whole development site has been covered over by trees*
Dragadon says:
and i think that is a very good guess...
*Dark Hood looks at his house which still looks like the mess it is*
Dragadon says:
well...looks like she is leaving those that were trying to stop the development alone..
Dark Hood says:
Uh-huh
*The roads are still the same asthe developers made them, but are surrounded by trees*
Dark Hood says:
Good thing she left the roads in.
Dragadon says:
yeah..
Dark Hood says:
Anyway, lets go find her.
Dragadon says:

*Dark Hood goes up to the security hut and opens the door to find that the really bad secruity gaurds that once threatend him have been killed.*
Dark Hood says:
Yeesh!
Dragadon says:
eep! she wasnt fooling around..
Dark Hood says:
Ah well, who cares about them. They deserved it!
Dragadon says:
you know...the last time she acted like this was when...
Dark Hood says:
When what?
Dragadon says:
*clears throat* when she went balistic on the ones that caused Hak's death..
Dark Hood says:
Uh-huh. But I mean, this is the last place I expected her to come.
Dragadon says:
i know... it puzzles me as well
*We see Ishtar hurling fireballs at a nearby digger. She is in her White Dragon form... (a white dragon is her alternate form)*
Isthar: I ma kcis fo uoy sgnieb ginyortsed siht tenalp! Won I lliw yortsed uoy!
Bladewings translator: "I am sick of you beings destrorying this planet! Now I will destroy you!"
Dragadon says:
*low voice* she is jsut doing this to keep herself from going into deep depression from missing Hak... I can tell..
Dark Hood says:
Anyway, we ought to stop her before she destroys the rest of my villlage.
Dragadon says:
um how? she is a demi-goddess remember?
Dark Hood says:
By talking to her.
Dragadon says:
have you ever tried to talk a god like being out of something? It is very difficult with Ishtars type and damn near impossable with Demonakos'
Dark Hood says:
Hmmmm. . .
Dark Hood says:
(To Ishtar) HEY!
Ishtar: *turns toward him with a scowl* what do you want Dark Hood? Can't you see that Im busy?
Dark Hood says:
Yes, but could you stop now? Before you destroy my village? You've made your point destroying this development, and I thank you for it, but I think this is enough. . .
Ishtar: No...I'm going to keep going until I have caused mankind to revert back to a lifestyle that doesn't threaten the well being of this planet! Your kinds lust for techology and quest for near immortality have polluted your gene pool! Your tecnological advices in the science and medical fields have prevented natural selection from taking place in your species and is gradualy destroying this once beautiful planet as a result!
Bladewing: "We know, but that's how we came here. If you destroy this now, you'll effect the future and we won't exist. Things are much, much better in the future, beleive me."
Ishtar: not nessacarly, you see...there are many different realities, one of which is where you came from *points to BW* there are infinate possiblites for the future, yours is just one of zillions.. 1in another...this planet could have been blown up or sterilized due to nuclear warfare. Or mankind could realize the error of there ways and willfully chose the lifestyle of the Saurians once again.. Infinate possiblites..it would take the rest of your lifetime and then some for me to tell them all
Dragadon says:
IF that is so...then why are you doing this?
Dark Hood says:
Look, Ish. I notice you seem to be doing this violently. Violence solves nothing. . .
Ishtar: violence seems to be the only thing your kind understands..
Dragadon says:
*winces* ouch..
Ishtar: and that brings up another point.. You know of all the wars your kind has inflicted upon each other...mainly because one side didn't like the ideals or the appearence ot the other..
Dark Hood says:
Yeah, I know Humans suck, but. . .
Ishtar: Now...about 75% of those wars would have never happened if you all stayed at the native life style.. The Saurians were once technologically more advanced then you are now.. But due to their greed they nearly ended up destroying themselves.. the survivors of that catacism vowed to forsake technology and to live the way of the ancestors from that point on...and they still do today. I am mearly trying to have humans do the same..
Dark Hood says:
Why not let humans do that on thier own and leave them alone before somebody notices you and blasts a nuke at you and destorys everything? My house is just over there! *He points* I'd rather it wasn't destroyed, thankyou very much.
Ishtar: a nuke I can disintagrate with just a thought.. turning it into harmless ashes
*meanwhile, Bladewing, Max and Zip have dissappeard, and the ship is hovering above Ishtar*
Dragadon says:
um...i wouldn't guys.. *muttering* this is going to get messy...
*Bladewing warps all of us on board and flies to the future*
Bladewing: "So you thought we were gonna fight, eh?"
Dragadon says:
bad idea...she's nutsoid enough without having deal with the effects of timetravel on her..
Ishtar: *growls* WHERE AM I!?
Dragadon says:
*mutters* more like 'when'
*Bladewing goes up to Ishtar*
Bladewing: "Look at the world below. Look how peaceful and green it is. Can't you see that humans do learn their lesson?"
*He points out Saurian Isle*
Bladewing: "Notice surians don't need to hide thier island anymore?"
Ishtar: *low growl* how far into the future is this?
Dark Hood says:
4952. This is Bladewing's time.
Ishtar: *look of shock* you...idoit...don't you remember what Nadia said!? Of how timetravel effects us!?
Bladewing: "Don't worry, I'll take you back in a minute, but just look at the earth below and observe."
Isthar: *still scowling* I said before...this is only one of many possiblites of the future..
Bladewing: "This is the certain fututre, because if it wasn't, we wouldn't exist. This is the exact same universe and everything. We as in my race of modified humans."
Isthar: you did not here me did you? very well...I shall show you another of the possiblities...
Dragadon says:
um Ishtar you not going to...
*they all suddenly disappear*
*they appear in the same place same time, but the earth looks vastly different*
Ishtar: now you look Bladewing..what do you see?
*He sees an earth that is nothing but a black husk...the atmosphere is gone, the world is dead...*
Bladewing: "Yeesh!"
Dark Hood says:
F***ing hell man!
Ishtar: You see? this is another of the future possiblities.. YOUR past as you know it is set in stone for you...but the rest of our future is still unknown...a blank slate
Dragadon says:
she is right BW...the future you know of may be true..but our future is yet to be written..
Bladewing: "In that case. . . how did we meet up if I don't exist? If this is our future, where do I come from?"
Ishtar: this is ONE future...Yours is another...all futures split off at different points in the timeline. You can only travel back in time to the past that you know of...therefore you would still exist. I shall take you back to YOUR future
*they disappear and reappear back in front of the earth BW knows*
Dark Hood says:
*Sigh* I give up. Comeon, Blade. Lets go back to the past.
*They get warped back into the past. The development is there again, before Ishtar touched it*
Isthar: you took us back a little bit too far.. *looks annoyed*
Bladewing: "Yeah."
Ishtar: *looks mad* you did that on perpose!
*Bladewing takes us back a little further into the past, before the development existed*
Dragadon says:
*groan* Bladewing is being a smartalec..
*It is the same lush undergrowth that Dark Hood knew before it all got destroyed*
Ishtar: *taping a foot* what is the point of this? I KNOW what it used to look like..
Bladewing: "Whoops, wrong direction."
*He takes it a bit more forward in time, but misses it again and takes it to the time after Ishtar has destroyed everything*
*everything is green*
Dragadon says:
*groan* you need to work on your caluations..*
Bladewing: "Yeah, but I forgot to save the co-ordinances last time. I'm having a little difficulty."
Ishtar: *rattles off a few numbers* THATS the coordinates
Bladewing: "Yeah, but whilst were here, take a look at the result of what you plan to do."
Ishtar: much better looking if you ask me...
Bladewing: "I'll take you down and you can see for yourself how this planet now looks"
Ishtar: *shrug* if you insist
Bladewing: "Close up."
*Underneath the tree cover, no other life exists apart from plant life. The ground is littered with bodies of all speices of creatures, and rubble from old buildings, and looks a wasteland covered in trees.*
Ishtar: *raises a brow* something is not right here...I would have left the animals alone..
Bladewing: "There is something you are going to do wrong, I know it. Everybody makes mistakes, even gods."
Ishtar: *starts thinking* what does the rest of the world look like?
*He flies around the world. Everything looks the same*
Ishtar: ack! *puts hands on her head* I know whats wrong! I completely forgot about biodiversity! this world is unbalanced!
Bladewing: "Yep. And this is what you do to it."
Dragadon says:
A little too much green there Ish..
Bladewing: "So, if I were you, I'd leave everything alone. Humans destroying stuff for profit is much better then everything dying and nothing exisiting at all expect from a small number of speices of plant life."
Dragadon says:
Besides Ish.. As what humans would veiw as a god.. isn't a gods job to just sit back and watch his/her creations act on their own? To make and learn from their own mistakes? And to only intervine in extreme circumstances? Isn't that what Moon and Staros preach? To not get invovled directly?
Ishtar: *slides down the wall into a kneeling postion and breaks down* I just...wanted to do something to keep me from...thinking about...*big sob* Hak..
Dark Hood says:
Well, why not play some computer games or something? Or. . . or write a book? Or something else instead of trying to change the world?
Ishtar: its not so simple..for us...Since a mortals life lasts as long as a blink of an eye to us...any amont of time away from him is torture to me. it is way many of my kind and Staros' don't even try to get so close to a mortal...it is too painful for us when they go.. yet...falling in love with a mortal still happens...so we have to make the most of it when we can..
Dark Hood says:
But you can make Hak imortal, can't you?
Isthar: I could...but that is taboo. That and a mortals soul cannot handle eterinal life...it would drive them crazy...and they would be misrable..
Dark Hood says:
I could probably handle and imortal life, but it'd take a bit of getting used to.
Ishtar: yes...but you soul is not designed for it. You would adventratly grow weary of life...and wish to end it but will be unable too.
Dark Hood says:
How is it possible to grow weary of life if you have a good life?
Ishtar: even a good life will get tiresome. those mortals that have acchieved immortality regrated it soon after... Tell me DH.. Would you be able to handle literally watching all your friends all of your family grow old and die...continuely? While you remain forever unchanged?
Dark Hood says:
That. . . that would be hard to imagine. I'd get over thier deaths eventaully, but it would be really, really hard. And yes, I would hope to see them again in my afterlife is there is such thing. . . So you are right.
Ishtar: Let me tell you a story... There was is a member of Staros' kind who fell in love with a mortal. This was 2 uni ago... His time with her was total bliss, until one day Demonakos came by and killed her. And there was nothing he could have done to stop him.. since their relationship was still so new...he had yet to prepare himself for her eventral death. Her sudden death tore his heart to pieces...and he went into a state of depression so deep that no one was able to get him out of it. Needless to say...when that universes time came to an end...he did not live through it...in fact he refused to take shelter...in a sense he committed the only way we can commit suicide..
Dark Hood says:
I see. . . So if I become immortal, and something really bad happens and I want to end it all, then I can't?
Ishtar: *shakes her head* that is why, when Hak was killed, I was so quick to bring him back...I knew i would have done the same thing as the one in the story I just told.. I wouldn't have been able to handle Hak being gone before his time..
Dark Hood says:
Yeah, I see now.
Ishtar: it is why I can't stand not being with him...as anything can happen to him without my knowledge..
Dark Hood says:
You could get Bladewing to put an invisble beacon on him, just to keep him tracked all the time, and you can always contact Bladewing, right?
Bladewing: "Yeah."
Ishtar: that would be interference from someone in the future...something that is not condoned by my kind. We have only tolorated Bladewings presence here only because he has helped me keep you *points at DH* and others from pearishing before their time
Dark Hood says:
Ah, okay.
Bladewing: "It's been a plesure helping you, Ish."
Ishtar: *nods* I was happy to have your help..*narrows eyes* other then that one time where you summoned Demonakos..
Bladewing: "Oh that! Uhm. . . I'm still sorry for doing that. I thought it'd be good to see Demonakos and Black Dragon side by side."
Ishtar: *snorts* if he was just a very spikey dragon perhaps...next time take in consideration what he is...
Bladewing: "I won't do it ever again."
Ishtar: you better not..
Bladewing: "However, as punishment I was you loyal slave for about a month. I learned my lesson."
Ishtar: loyal save for the few times you managed to sneak away...
Bladewing: "Aw, come on! Even strange creatures like me who are used to working long hours need a break sometimes."
Ishtar: you right...I had forgotten that you weren't an immortal *grins*
Bladewing: "He-he!"
Bladewing: "Anyway, lets get back now."
Dark Hood says:
Promise you won't try and change the world?
Ishtar: oh alright...but I will still terrorize those developers..*mischievous grin*
Dark Hood says:
Okay, just don't attack the friendly one with the green hat with "Tom" on it. He's a friend of mine. Also, leave the ones that pray for mercy, and don't damage anything too much.
Ishtar: party pooper...oh well i will just resort to tactics that are more...indirect
Dragadon says:
um like...
Ishtar: oh like the ground suddenly turning into thick sticky mud..
Dark Hood says:
He-he-he-he! That'd be funny.
Ishtar: *thoughtful* or a tree limb suddenly reaching out to trip someone...or giving them a good whack in the bum...*laughs*
Bladewing: "Ish, I'll drop you off at Dark Hood's place before you destroyed the development. Dark Hood and Dragadon, I'll take you back to Oddworld. Is that okay?"
Dragadon says:
thats fine with me
Dark Hood says:
Ok
*Bladewing goes back in time.*
Dark Hood says:
See you later, Ishtar.
Bladewing: "Bye Ish."
Isthar: bye *waves*
Dragadon says:

Bladewing: "Have fun!"
*Dark Hood and Bladewing laughs, and Bladewing warps Ishtar out*
*Bladewing sets course for Oddworld*
Dragadon says:
you know i can see the headlines now.. "Developement halted due to mysterious forces.."
*Dark Hood, Bladewing and Dragadon laugh hard*
Dark Hood says:
Ohh, he-he-he-he!!! Thats a good one!!!
Bladewing: "He-he-he-he-he!!! Yeah!"
Dark Hood says:
Anyway, that was very impressive to defeat Ishtar like that, Bladewing.
Dragadon says:
"Yes it was."
Bladewing: "Well, I may be a bit stupid, but I have my bright moments."
Dragadon says:
I was impressed about how you used her own tactic against her..
Dark Hood says:
Yeah, I was too.
Bladewing: "Well, just think of it as good thinking, and good luck."
Dragadon says:

Bladewing: "Anyway, here we are. Oddworld. I'll see you guys later. I've got a mission to do back home. I recievied it whilst I was showing Ishtar the world in my time. Tisk. The things I do for you guys, eh?"
Dragadon says:
ok bye BW. He-he!
Dark Hood says:
Bye, Bladewing. Thanks again for helping us save the world from Ishtar.
Bladewing: "Think nothing of it."
*He warps Dragadon and Dark Hood back to Oddworld*
