Favorite Wildlife

Well you kinda figured out the topic, what is your favorite wildlife animal, mine is without doubt the wolf, I worked with wolves on a preservation for a while and absolutly think they are the most interesting animals on the planet, but that may be the Native American in me. Anyway, how about you what is your favorite wildlife animal. I was really aiming for more of the majestic wildlife like native birds and wolves more that exotic animals, but if you absolutly think they are the coolest animal on the planet then okay, tell me...us.

My favourite wildlife animal has to be the Siberian Tiger. That's based simply on the fact that it looks so cool. I've only ever seen pictures, but yeah, I'd have to say they're my favourite.

Happy Giraffes? Giraffes!

Giraffes are the coolest thing eva!
Did you know?
1. Giraffes will not drink milk through a straw (Unless you ask them to while wearing a hockey mask)?
2. Whenever Giraffes see campfires they laugh hysterically?
3. They control all the world's mirrors and ice supply? See Here!
4. They live in Terre Haute, Indiana and Atlanta (More commonly known as Hotlanta!)?
5. They love bread sandwiches?
6. Their legs are filled with various types of fruit juice?
7. They have their own language? See Here!
Truly incredible aminals (sic)!

Well my favourites the Siberian tiger and penguins have already been taken so I'm going to have to go with the armadillo. No particular reason, I just think they're cool.

Shadowman, what were you doing with wolves? That sounds like a pretty amazing job.

For a collage project, I did research on wolves. In the summer, I asked the school for funding my trip to go visit the wolves on the west coast. Since it was a free school activity they eventually gave in and payed for my flight, I am taking classes in wildlife management

I love all animal species (I love nature), but I think my prefered is the dodo (who no longer exists today... thx humans...).
One of my dreams is to see a real dodo one day... (maybe genetic will do it for me)

Here a pic for those who have never seen what it looks like :

My favorite wild animal, I'd say, Is probably Grizzly bears. Nothing can **** you up like a grizzly bear. One swipe of the paw will break your back like you're nothing. You can't compare to that.

It's certainly a possibility. There is a stuffed dodo on display in the natural history museum in London.

I can't think of any favourite animals, but I'd have to say my least favourite animals would be dogs. I hate the fact that stupid people get man eating, ex-guard dogs and keep them as "loving pets".

Ann, thank you. You made my day. Various types of fruit juice in their legs . . .

I would have to say . . . wow. Let me think about this one.

Snakes maybe? Naw they're weak sauce. They're not that cool in practice, just good for a cuddle.

I guess I'd go with Siberian tigers if SOMEBODY hadn't already said that one. So Bengal tigers then. HAH! I beat you.

Or coyotes. Besides being sort of haunting in a sort of strange way, there's sort of this like you know if you've ever seen a coyote there's just kind of this aura about it? It's like that. I dunno. I certain je n'est ce quoi, or however the heck you spellz it. And besides that, they're really cute. Honestly. Coyotes are so cute.

Coyotes are my favorite animal! Wheeeee!!!!

Raisin, I'll agree that there is something special about seeing a coyote crossing the road or something and they are pretty cute, but they're not good for people living on a farm or people with outdoor kitties.

My favorite type of wildlife is sealife. I love dolphins with every fiber of my being. They're beautiful, graceful, friendly animals that have been known to save the lives of humans countless times. They've been my favorite animal before I could even spell the word, and I know they always will be. Several summers ago, I got to encounter one in captivity, which is definitely the way to go if you want to play with one. Dolphin encounters in the wild can be harmful to both the humans and the dolphins as it totally screws up their behavior.

Besides dolphins, I also adore tropical fish and corals. Everytime I go to the beach, my back side is so tan while the rest of me is left as pale as ever because I spend all my time snorkeling with the fishies.

Sorry to destroy your illusions but it's made up of feathers and skin from other birds based on pictures. I was excited when I first saw it too but if you look at the fine print on the plaque you'll see it says that it is fake.

Shadowman, what did you actually do with the wolves?

Coyotes are loners where as wolves live in packs, although coyotes are sneaky little devils. They have different instincts where as wolves are more dog-like in behavoir. For example if you give a coyote a lack of attenion it simply doesn't care if you show affection for it, wolves on the other hand, because they live in packs, relize are mad at them you show lack of attention or no affection. Also if you where to somehow train a coyote and you smacked it, the coyote would bit you because all it relizes is that you attacked it, a wolf on the other hand sees it must have done something wrong because when they where pups there mother displined them. But Coyotes are amazing creatures as well. As for Dolphins, I have gove diving with them numerous times, very intellagent, said to be in some ways smarter than humans.

Too bad they attack and kill porpoises. You have heard about that, right?

Shadowman, you've just made me love coyotes even more. They're like, "We're too cool for jyor training, ese." Of course, they have Mexican accents because they live near and/or in Mexico. Except for the ones that don't. Anyway. They just kick ass.

And yeah, I guess if you think about it wolves must be a bit smarter than coyotes, seeing as how their hunting in packs must be extremely effective. But I don't know man. Those coyotes, man.

Also all the mythology surrounding them. Lovez it. Coyote is always portrayed as a trickster and sometimes a shapeshifter, and ya gotta love those guys. Plus I read this book called Coyote Blue by Christopher Moore and it was really cool and there was this god Coyote and he was really cool and, well, ya gotta read it to get it. Ya jyest gotta.

But to end this digression, yeah I think dolphins are awesome, and I think most sealife is pretty cool except in real life I don't really wanna come in contact with them because let me tell you. Let me tell you man. If you've grown up with Pacific Northwest waters you don't want to go to far from shore. *shudder* There's never much sun at the coast, the dropoff is immensely steep and sudden and deep, and the water is this horrible greenish opaque color and every time I go in the water I just can't make myself go more than a few yards out because the moment I lose sight of my feet I start getting paranoid that there's some horrible sea creature or nasty little animal or flesh-eating giant monster just lurking there just to piss me off! *shudder again* That's why I don't like the ocean. Pools are good though.

I like animals. They don't like me though. They sense fear!

Well for a majority of the time at one of the wild life preservations I brought food and stuff when they didn't hunt their food. Since these wolves where somewhat people friendly (only slightly) they eventually got familliar with me, so I could easily walk by there den. Also we had to check the pups when the mother was out for illness or defect so I got to play with the pups for about 45 minutes to an hour each day.

Who could think that dodo's feathers were still well kept ?
It's like dinosaurs. When a specie dies off, it's almost impossible to find organic things from them.
Moreover, at this time cameras didn't exist...
Cruel world, isn't it ?

Wolves aren't damned. All wolves go to heaven. Didn't you know that?

Squid are pretty awesome. They're incredibly intelligent in a stupid sort of way. Nahmean? I guess the reason I don't admit to their high intelligence is that they've a different sort of intelligence. They're cold-blooded and not mammals. They're different. And they think in different ways. If they ever get too intelligent the human race is doomed!

I think dolphins are too much like humans, what with the porpoise-killing and all. What's an animal that's really smart but really peaceful and kind? And yeah dolphins are kind but they're not exactly peaceful per se.

Porpoise killing?! I can't believe I of all people have never heard of such a thing. I mean, I guess because I've always considered them two completely different species that I never looked into their interactions with each other... Now, I do know that adult male dolphins (bottle-nosed, to be precise) have been none to kill calves (baby dolphins) for somewhat unknown reasons. I forget if they were killing both male and female calves or only males when I read about this a few years ago. Apparently, such killings had increased during that time.

So, you're right; dolphins aren't all that peaceful... and neither are people. For those reasons, I really wish these "wild dolphin encounter" businesses would become illegal.

That's what I meant about them being too much like humans. It would be nice if there were more creatures gifted with such intelligence but not marred by such horrible traits.

Yeah, dolphins have been known to attack and kill porpoises. I don't think I ever heard an explanation as to why.

I still like dolphins though. They are very playful and cool and whatnot. And that sound they make: "Ree-eh-eh-eh qwhhhrrr!" So cool.

Reptiles rock. Snakes ares so cool 'cause they just don't care. Nahmean? A green iguana will tailwhip you to hell if you try to touch it, but a snake is just like, "Whatever, man, glad for the body warmth." Laidback. Very cool. I like snakes. At Central Washington University they had a python named Monty. Monty Python. God I loved that snake.

Hee hee. No really though. The python was donated to the science department by some old lady. She had named it Monty. It truly was Monty Python. Such an awesome snake.

On an unrelated note, I am halfway through my first Jones soda ever (it's a twelve-ounce can, green apple flavor). Very tasty.
