Will, if there's someone you like that doesn't like you back, you can complain. If you don't particularly care, who gives a rat's ass what they think? There's a difference between potential for love and social status.

I hate it when people complain about being "single". I say it's better than some bullshit relationship just for the sake of not being lonely. Loneliness is the human condition. If there's someone you really care about, good for you, go for them. If not, learn how to cope on your own. And if you're just looking for a good time, don't set up any false pretenses.

That seems to go against the fundamental ideas of civilized sexual activity. I think it's a shame to give up virginity for "a one-night stand". Sex should be with someone you know and love and trust. Bollocks to anyone who gets burned. That's life. To forego emotion for simple sexual satisfaction is just weak. You should read Brave New World.

Couldn't have said it better myself, mainly because I'm all drugged up from having my wisdom teeth removed today. I think having sex for physical purposes only is only half as satisfying as it could be, if not even less. There's just so much more to it than physical pleasure when there's a deep emotional bond. Finding that is definitely worth the wait.

I hold the same stance, Rich. I think using marriage as a marking point in one's life for when one can have sex is just bullshit. It's a completely arbitrary event in life that a lot of people probably don't even experience. I say people should decide for themselves when the time is right. And hopefully they won't make a stupid decision.

The position I've been in about, three times. And they are still my friends, but there is always one major flaw, that would definitely not see us moving on from friends to partners. And no, it is nothing to do with beauty.

Sorry for generalising you, I thought you'd share the Christian veiwpoint of Sex being a Holy gift from God that should be restricted to marriage, which is of course bullshit. I'm glad you aren't foolish.

Sex is a natural function for people to have children. It feels good so that you'll be encouraged to have more children and carry on the human race. The "Holy" thing is only used as people fear that if people have sex before marriage it will be immoral. Which of course needn't be true.

Apology accepted, but I am Christian, and I do believe it's a gift from God, meaning I think it shouldn't be given away to just anyone (but if a person wants to, they have every right to do so without question). I don't think it needs to be restricted until marriage at all; however, I think there are some people out there whose "right time" may be only after marriage (I'm not one of those people, just in case you're getting the idea that I am) just like some people's time is much earlier. Everyone is different, so no, my friend, it is not bullshit for every person out there. Thinking absolutely NO one's time is after marriage, is.

Once again, I think sex is "Holy", but I definitely don't have a fear of having sex before marriage. Even if I did believe it was immoral, I would never try to impose my beliefs on someone else. I hold my personal beliefs for myself and myself only. I think everyone has the right to choose when, who, how many, whatever for themselves.

Personally, I wouldn't have sex with someone I didn't intend to marry someday, though. Personally. That's just the way I like it.

Personally I think that restricting sex to marriage isn't that bad. People should be able to choose when they loose their virginity.
However, I don't believe they should restrict themselves to after marriage because "The Bible says so". They should choose and think for themselves. As you and I have done.

I guess this is why I have a problem with polygamy: I think sex should be with someone you really really love. I am also of the belief that there is one person for everyone and that there's a level of love that simply cannot be shared between more than two people. And polygamy goes against that.

I think so too, Raisin, except I think some people are meant to be alone... like some people are destined to have a certain career, some people are meant to have a best friend, some people are meant to be with a certain person, etc. Just another common part of the partial fate I believe in and mentioned in some other thread.

Polygamy does go against my belief that the highest level of love cannot be felt by more than two people, but wouldn't you agree that people should have the right to choose if they want to reach that level for themselves?

Yes, they should. I will still be mentally opposed to it, though. And I think it's a shame that love isn't a prerequisite for marriage. In terms of marriage, I place polygamists on the same level as people who marry then divorce for money, Vegas drive-in wedding couples, and the like.

Anyway, I agree with what Reptile says. Although I've met a few girls who are sorta weirded out by affection. I dunno. Maybe they were abused as as a kid or something and they're mind is f'ed up. But I think those come few and far between.

This so reminds me of the homosexuality debate. I don't believe they can have the same sort of love a couple can have either, but how can either of us truly know? I guess the only people who can know are the polygamists themselves, like homosexuals can only know if their feelings are real. And many people say they don't have a problem with gays until they try to get married, which I will never be able to understand. If it doesn't cause any harm to anyone, why care?

One reason I kind of doubt it's true love as opposed to a sleazy excuse to sleep around: the guy in the paper a while back, the one who was like older than my parents and kidnapped a fourteen-year-old girl, then, when he was captured by the cops, he said that it was of her own free will and that she had eloped with him to become something like his sixth wife. Bull. Freaking. Shit. Maybe it's different for other polygamists, but if that guy is the status quo, they're a bunch of lecherous sickies who sound like the kind of people that lure little kids into cars with tinted windows with promises of candy and a fun ride.
