Erm...some new art

Hello friends!

I allowed myself to think of my new art topic here.
The following pictures are not older than two weeks. I have to work quickly because of my apprenticeship as graphic designer.
These works are for a project in Typography: Making a calendar.
First I have to finish all twelve pictures then I can start working on the design of the calendar.

For any reason, I decided to make a fantasy calendar.

The first drawing will be a dispute between two griffons. It was drawn with ordinary Faber Castell coloured pencils on 150 g paper.

Have fun looking at it,

Alector

Ooh! I like.

Seriously, the detail in your stuff has always been great, and this is no exception. The color in the feathers and the muscle structure on the horse "parts" are just... wonderful.

Hi again,

thanks for the compliments. I wish I had some more time for drawing pictures. During my holidays, I have to do lots of things like taking photographs, designing logos and making this calendar.
well, I think I may be slightly proud of some of my works. Even though there are some pics which are kinda failed, but I will show them to you anyway.

hmmmm....let's see what pic I can show you next.
I've got it!

the next picture will be a mermaid. I thought about creating this character a while ago. I don't like ordinary mermaids, so I thought of an animal form. I wanted to keep this creatures fish-like.
Have fun looking at it.

Wonderful stuff, Alector. Really beautiful.

Have you heard of a trading card game called Magic: The Gathering? The cards are known for some fairly exquisite art, and the fantasy element incorporated in your works would definitely go well with them. The game is nerdy rubbish and you're way too talented to work for them, but if you ever needed money you could probably do quite well in that sector.

The mermaid is what made me think of it. They were always good with merfolk. You're better though.

Wow these are very good, I didn't bother looking at this thread yesterday because I thought they would be useless pieces of Art, but I was wrong.

And this new stuff is no exception. They're wonderful! If by chance you're allowed to reproduce the calendar (when you're finished) on here, I'd love to see it.

Art is cool as ever... I like the mermaid, the fishness is good (although I liked your lumpy-bumpy Mudokon-fishdude better ).

(PS you on deviantART? (See, I'm there, my little gallery, yay) I'd love to see more of your art, y'see, and if you were on devART I could stalk- Devwatch you! )

Wow, all the people who came here. What an honour

First I need to reply to some questions and notes before I'm getting to post a new pic.
Raisin: Sorry, I have never heard of The Gathering and I can't really imagine that. Is it a company or just a website? I mean earning money in my course of studies doesn't sound bad. I still don't have an own computer in Leipzig and it's not easy to get online because of pressure of time, so I don't had any chances to collect informations about such things. Could you give me a link to it or such? I want to see what it is exactly.

Thanks to Alcar. We'll take photos of the presentation. I can post them into the same topic. But it will take 87 days until I can get here again. I hope to get the computer I want. If yes, you can see me earlier here. I need to take photos of the calendar because my scanner is too small for the size of the sheets

To Abby: Hey, glad to see you here! We rarely see us on MSN, but it's great to meet you here!
Deviant Art sounds interesting. I always loved your art and the way you use colours (Karismacolours aren't available in Germany, I fought for them on eBay... )
I think of joining Deviant Art. That sounds funny.

The following picture is a re-designed Pegasus by me. I thought of nature colours again. I like brown feathers and fur - so, why not using these colours for Pegasus?
Let's see if you like it also:

Their website is www.wizards.com/magic. Like TheRaisin said, the Magic: The Gathering card game itself is crap but the artwork is great.

Thanks for the link, Godlesswanderer.
Let's see if I can find good informations about it.

When I draw pictures, I always listen to music. Every picture I drew arose from the music I was listening to. I was hearing "Spirits Of Native Americans" when I drew Pegasus. I think the horse looks free, even though one can't see the full body and wings.
But I'm able to draw pictures without music also.
The next two pieces were drawn in school. Both look similar but they have a different meaning.

Guess what the following characters are. They are not the same

What does your signature mean, by the way?

It's a real pleasure to watch your drawings, I really love your 2 lasts, even I prefer the imp sitting on the coloured mushroom. In fact I love when it's coloured.
I'm in a hurry to see your next drawings

PS : is he taking a sunbath ?

Hi,

thanks for the compliments. My signature is the language of Mordor of Lord of The Rings. The imp is enjoying the sun. I think he's got some free time. he looks so lucky and unworried.

The next picture is an Earth Chicken. well I think that many people don't know what an Earth Chicken is. Let me explain it: It's a ghost, which lives in houses with humans together. When something is wrong or dangerous approaches, the Earth Chicken will squeak. It's supposed to protect humans. On the other hand, if a human ever sees an Earth Chicken, he immediately dies.

I think there are no graphics or drawings about earth chicken. I wish I had more time to think of the looking of it. for this time, I used a mixture of animals. well...you can quesshow many and what animals the Earth Chicken contents of.

Have fun looking at it:

Thankie. I took this pic for March. I drew it quite quickly. It took me one hour only.

But the next was horrible to draw. The background is quite crappy and the wolf looks like a punk. Well, just look

Edit:

To avoid double posting, I'm going to put the last pictures of the calendar in here. I'm going back to Leipzig tomorrow and we probably won't see us in the next 80 days. I still like visiting my "second home" because you didn't forget me, even though I spent most time for school in the last two years.

Thank you again.

Bye,

till the 29th of March in 2005!

Your Alector
