I am makeing an epic film I need talented conceptual artists.

Hey people well its a new year and a new agenda for myself for the comeing year. Thats right a new agenda. And what might you say that is? Well I've decided I am going to make my very first animated movie but I am not a film maker nor an animator. I am an illustrator who knows a bit about the production process of films and how it all comes together. I can write the story and of course illustrate it and design the story boards and maybe even direct it. Well let me get to the point of this thread. I am looking for talent because I am only one person and one person can't design a film.

Mainly I need a team of good artist and when I say good I mean good.
The rest of the stuff that is involved makeing a good film is already taken care of. I have local talent for that. But as an illustrator I need a team of artist and what better to come here and request for artist all over the world to help me on my vision of my epic science fiction and fantasy adventure. Sure I can find local artist in my home state of North Eastern Ohio but I don't want to do that because there arn't many good Fantasy artist in my area and its all boreing corpret graphic design in my area.

Thats right I am designing an amazeing story that has to be on a DVD some day. Maybe it won't make the box office but it sure can become a DVD. I really don't know how long this project is going to take me but it will be a long time. In the next year I am going to start this by spending the entire year produceing conceptual artwork just to lay out my vision on paper. In the following year I will then cross my fingers start animateing it and putting it together as a animated motion picture.

What I am asking for you is, would you like to help me on this in the conceptual art stage of the project? There is no pay but there is expierence you can add to your resume. If you are intrested then PM me or let me know here and we will talk. But before you jump on board of my project I need to know a little bit about yourself and I need you to show me some examples of your work before I choose you to be a concept artist. I am looking for a specific style and I really only need maybe two artists. Whats worse is to choose someone who isn't relible and I don't want that. Mainly if for say I choose someone and that someone decides to help me on this what they would do is mail me their work and I would mail my work to them and we would simply colaborate online by e-mail and such ideas we can use in the art work. That was my idea here but if not thats fine. But here is the thing if we decide to mail each other our work. Do not on any circumbstances send me your original. scan or photogragh your work and take it to a printing place like Copy Max or print it yourself if you don't want to pay the fee and send me a printed copy of your original work. I don't want original work, when it comes to mailing I want to see printed copies xerox what ever, but never the original!

All I have to say is for those who love art and maybe even one day get into the business of the applied arts and illustration this can be an interesting expierence on how it works. I mean I am graduating college in the spring and this is my profession. originally I was going to do this, this year but I never got to it. I was so busy moveing out that in all reality I couldn't do remotely anything towards this. So now that this hectic year is over for me I have the time.

Think carefully about this don't just sign in just for the sake of art. Its applied art and I am looking for reponsible people.

I'd love to help, but I'm much better at cartoony drawings. Not too good at Fantasy either.

Well good luck with the movie. If it becomes famous someday, I shall log on to many accounts on a reviews website and give good comments. A thousand good comments, my friend.

Once again, good luck.

This is cool um yeah anyway I am going to be starting this around the beginning of the new year. Before we start designing things and concepts. I will go ahead and produce a series of my own illustrations and then I will post them here or send them e-mail to the few artists I hire. Give me about one week to make my decision on who's hired. Do me a favor if your intrested post some of your own work here so I can view it. If your picked remember I will send you information specific information and a deadline on the first series of work.

I broke my conceptual campaign down to four major deadlines. The Spring Deadline which will be May 30th, The Summer Deadline August 30th. The Fall Deadline which will be November 30th, and finally the winter Deadline which will go into 2006 as being March 30th 2006.

In each deadline work must be finnished and we will discuss the concepts through PM or e-mail or through this thread.

Now I own an Illustration Studio workshop and I am a freelance artist. When I make my decision on my art team I will discuss with each of you individually what you should go and work on. For instance I would give someone a job to work on technology designs. Thats how it works professionally anyway..

But remember don't force yourself at doing this.

I want to be a director someday, and I'd want my "epic" to get the recognition it deserved. Straight to DVD "someday" doesn't allow that.

Yes I have. And thank you for proving my point. You can't begin working your way up by starting with your most ambitious project...like an epic. You have to establish yourself in the industry before you'll get enough money to produce an epic film. If you don't have enough money to fully manifest your vision, you have no epic.

I also disagree, he can do whatever he wants even if his project has the same chance of survival as a rubber duck in a typhoon. The fact that he woke up and said "I'm going to make an epic" kinda shows this.

I believe I'll be rich some day as well. There's nothing wrong with being ambitious, but at the same time you must be realistic. PA isn't going to have an epic if he goes about making it the way he is. It's not mean...it's the honest truth. You can't just say, "Hey! My first film is an epic! It's not going to theaters...just DVD maybe, but it'll be an epic!"

If this is going to be spam guys don't post in this thread thankyou very much. I am serious on what I am going to do. I might not have the money to produce an A movie but ya know that doesn't stop me from being my own independant Illustrator/ Film Maker. I do have the money to produce something at least. I have the studio and I have the talent plus in a few months I will have a degree. Don't tell me I can't create something remotely as interesting as Lord of the Rings or Star Wars etc. People who constantly say that "some day they will be rich or they are going to produce the greatest epic ever told" are seriously in for a rude awakening. I am sorry but that is the truth and I know the truth hurts. Ya know I never said this will make dollar one nor did I say what I am going to do will be successful.

This is a project solely for the purpose to break the ice and use my ability to produce something interesting and fun. I have always wanted to do this and now that I have the professional training I am going to do this. A long time ago I realised that success will not come to you but you have to go to it.

So be my guess wait and you will see that waiting just doesn't work. I say why wait and constantly talk about it and not go and do it. Its as simple as that. Its amazeing you guys are all the same I am on step 1 and you guys are thinking I am jumping to step 5010. I know that I would love to get my epic stories that I have already written into theaters and such and I know I would love to make it a huge hit of the year. But there is a little something called reality here and well I understand that and reality dictates to me what I can do in the here and the now and well that is to produce a small DVD movie that I could use later on someday for bigger purposes. But reality also says to me that I can go right ahead and illustrate my ideas on paper and make this DVD. Thats step 1 and thats where I am at. You guys are just absolutely crazy to think that I want to be the next George Lucas or Peter Jackson. I am just doing this for fun professional fun for crying out loud! I am not trying to establish myself anywhere Oddguy and I can make my own DVD's! I am a hobbiest and I do this for fun!

Anyway back to topic Dipstick if your intrested in this, post some of your work and I will view it. Don't worry about the information as soon as I pick people to be concept artist you will know all the stuff you need to know for designing. Um and like I said I am not starting this until after the New Year so just relax. Infact I already have people in mind that I will hire and you Dipstick are on my good list as of now. Oh another thing don't design anything until I show you the designs I make so you can get an idea of what this is.

Here is who I am looking at so far:
Good List:
Dipstick: for your sheer intrest in concept design
Leeum: for your web expertise
Feril: for your intrest in technology industrial design like guns, weapons. I could use you
and Oddish: For the same purpose of Dipstick sheer intrest.

Thats my good list don't mistake me though I still have a week to make a final choice but from what you guys said in your post I sense a positive feedback from you all. I am looking for an artist who can design nice creatures any body out there? This is your chance to have some professional fun.

Epics are films that stay with the public and considered classics even twenty years down the road. Epics are films that have characters that are household names.

How is your film going to be an epic if it goes straight to DVD maybe?

I'm not trying to be a jerk, but you'd be doing a real disservice to your "epic" if you make it the way you are planning.

Ok I am sorry I got the word mixed up I always thought "epics" were large on going stories of heroes in a universe where there is a collection of stories which they are by the way. Which I do have. I don't really think it has to be a collection of major motion pictures but I am not a film maker so I wouldn't know I am an illustrator different profession so bare with me. And I know your not trying to be a jerk. Sorry about that instead of the word epic its stories.

Oh and lastly this is not a major motion picture my friend trust me I don't want it to be, id rather have this as my own genunie thing. If someone down the line loves it and wants turn it into a motion picture which would be 1 million to 1 chance of it happening I would be pleased.

Mann I have headache!

Well, yeah...that would be a correct definition.

You were talking about an epic, and a film in the same thought...so I assumed you were going on about an epic film, in which my definition of epic would be correct.

Ooh, PA attempts sarcasm, I love it.
Epics are large. However, the definition has nothing to do with heroes, a universe, or a collection of stories.
And this isn't spam, because it's related to the topic.

I'm sure PA's 'epic' will be about some holy rolling christian with the divine touch.

Whatever crap he turns out will be along the lines of the 'veggie-tales' series, I'm sure.

Volunteering your time and effort is like giving a pregnant crackhead a rusty coathanger and a dark alley...You just shouldn't do it.

I mean, he describes himself as a freelance artist, right? If he was any good he'd be signed up full time with someone, Not piddling his time away in his mother's basement/'illustration studio'.

Jesus, you backwoods retards sure do get mighty big ideas.

Ahyuck.

Well I made a decision and do to current circumbstance I have decided to do this myself. Its just not worth it too much burden on other people and I don't wish to bring that upon people so there we go. Actually I am glad Ive decided not to do this because I know what I want and relying on other people to get what I want just doesn't work.
