Resemblance.

Yesterday, I was babysitting some little boy and he made me watch the movie Small Soldiers with him. After watching the film I saw an unbelievable uncanny resemblance between the main good guy - Archer and Stranger. Resemblances include the facial lion-like features, the hulking arms, the voice, and the fact that he has a bow. If you find this hard to swallow, rent it and watch it yourself. I don't know what to make of this, maybe just a little observation, or does it go deeper? Okay I've posted and now I will go
fuck off. Discuss, you pathetic little fanboys.

Oy...I've seen small soldiers. It was obviously destined to fail in zee box office. Okay, you have a PG idea(walking talking action figures) in a PG-13 setting. Disaster! The only reason I saw it was because my sister was friends with a guy in the movie. He was the guy who played Kirsten Dunst's boyfriend...the motorcycle guy.

Anyway, I would never like to admit that Oddworld Inhabitants has an awesome character that resembles an action figure from a C- movie.

No comment for me!

I've never seen it, so I couldn't comment at all. However, it doesn't take something to be big or popular for someone to be a fan of it. Perhaps Archer was a bit of inspiration for Stranger's design.

Alternatively, like Slogs and shriekers, it's just a coincidence.

I think I was an infant when I saw small soldiers.I think archer is stranger but with a goofy grin on and a nice cowboy suit.

Archer is the guy on the right. Just kidding...he's that dude on the left.

Also...has anyone played Metroid Prime? There is a creature in their that has a somewhat slog-ish design. Ya know...the dog-like/t-rex ice-creature with only two legs.

I remember watching that movie. Never occured to me that Stanger resembled Archer, but now that I think about it they do look very similar. Could be coincidence?

That is almost uncanny, SS. I have no idea why I never put the two together. Good find though.

Incognito, I <3 your Gargoyles avatar. I used to worship that show.

Nah... i don't know if they found inspiration or not. But oddworld is fully original. I think it's only a coincidence.

But if you absolutely wanna know, then you could try ask ALF...

The strangest thing I saw was the Futurama episode with Martians (the people of Mars).
It might have just been and native american rip-off, but the three fingered hand and feather-hair leads one to believe that it's very Odd...

You know I'd never thought of it until now. They do look somewhat alike, but Stranger's head kinda of remids me of a camel and not a lion. The muscle structure is very similar and so is the bow.

Yeah, then name "Native Martians" was mentioned, so I think it's safe to assume that they were based off of Native Americans. Also, the mention of making casinos with the giant diamond isn't a big hint, either.

On the Small Soldiers bit, I was obsessed with the Gorgonites (the monster toys in the film) in sixth grade, but I'm over it now. It wasn't THAT great of a movie. I think that Stranger may resemble Archer, but that's all. And I don't think anyone cares enough about Small Soldiers anymore to lawsuit-ify OWI.
