I think you're missing the point. I would most certainly not insult Alcar. There was a time when insulting Alcar is exactly what I would do, on a regular basis. But lately I've found that he isn't the person that I thought he was.

This forum has gone to shit, really. It has been down the crapper and back again several times on the run-up to EZboard, and since we've been back from EZboard. I don't think a little respect where it's due will go amiss.

Alcar has the power to ban, yes, but if he doesn't want people to think he's an ass by abusing his powers, he'd simply warn them or join in the fun. Alcar is a big target for this forum's tease, if he truly did ban everyone who insults him, most of the frequent posters would be on parole by now. And no you don't have a valid point, he wouldn't get banned anyway, but with the addition of using Codek's own post as his puppet for humiliation he should be banned. He is afraid that if he insults Codek directly he'll have his comeback shot down and made to look stupid, so he abuses his mod powers to ass-rape Codek's post in order for him to look like he has the upper-hand. It's just a way to compensate for his lack of decency when it comes to a healthy flame.

But hey, banning is a useless punishment for most of us. Staying away from the forums for a week is probly in the user's best interest (or atleast that's how I've heard mods putting it).

So you're saying that the reason I now won't insult Alcar is because he could easily ban me?

Well you're wrong - I've insulted him in the past, and I'll do it again if I feel the need for it. I'm not worried about being banned. The reason I won't insult him now is because I have nothing to insult him about - what I originally thought of him before was wrong.

Now, I think I should make it clear that Majic will probably NOT be in for an easy ride when Alcar discovers that he abused his moderator powers in a last ditch attempt to win an argument. I don't care if Majic gets banned or gets warned - he could die tomorrow, or he could win the lottery, either way I would feel nothing for him. But I would rather he at least realises (through one way or another) that his moment of childish stupidity didn't make him as big or clever as he obviously thought he was at the time. So make sure you let him and others know just how you feel about what he did.

This potentially brilliant forum doesn't need immature moderators who can't handle a situation without aggrivating it. It doesn't need immature moderators who consider it a good course of action to rape someone's post. What it needs (in my humble opinion) is people don't act on agendas, grudges, and emotions - but instead people who react on fairness and rules, and people who can empathise with both sides of an argument, and draw it to a conclusion peacefully.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I've had enough of these stupid postwars that end in conflict with the moderator because he doesn't know how to do his job properly. I've had enough of the blatant lack of empathy and respect for peoples views - I've had enough of the lack of thinking before posting. I've had enough of the poor identification of problems in the running of this forum.

This forum could potentially be GREAT if we just change the morally slack attitude among posters and moderators. The rules might as well not exist for the amount of effort people put into following them - and apparantly there are no rules for the moderators to follow either. What's to stop a moderator from messing things up? Nobody can point it out as there are no clear guidelines for what the moderators are and aren't allowed to do.

Why can't we change all this and realise our potential? It sickens me to see so many talented and intelligent people who's skills are being neglected when they could so easily be harnessed for the better of OWF.

To be honest, outside of the post rape, I don't recall any other time I've ever really used my mighty moderator powers of doom for anything outside of wholesome niceness. As a mod, have I ever gone around and royally screwed things up? Sure, I'm not a clean cut staff representative. But I'd consider myself far from abusive or evil. Merely, you need to humble yourself a bit. The forum won't turn into dust without constant attempts to better it. The rules have pretty much gone unchanged for years. New generation members are always replacing old ones. People always like the "good old days". Let things flow, man, flow like the bitter sweet wind.

Wow, it's really amazing how a simple goodbye thread can turn into crap. I've spoken to Majic, and really don't see any reason to demote him. Yeah, he shouldn't have done it, but one smudge against his stellar report card still requires a microscope to see it.

I'd also like to mention, that out of all the Moderators, Majic was the only one to actually voice his opinions based on the OWF - TGA Split without sugar coating it, or taking sides, to profit out of it. He told me to my face I was an asshole, and I love him for it *love hearts*
