Question What made YOU buy your first OW game?

I was just wondering what made everyone pick up that game on the shelves at their local retailer and say,
"Hey, this looks interesting." and buy it. Or did you get it differently?

When I was six, my Dad brought home Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee, and I was sure it was going to be dumb. I was wrong. Now my Dad regrets he ever bought it, because I'm so obsessed (Oddsessed?).
So...whats the story?

In 1999 the Abe's Exoddus was released in Europe (or hungary) I was seen a walkthrough in a computer magazine... I don't read it after four months in the magazine I seen the walkthrough's end... and I read it... it was interesting... so i ummm... gathered... (illegal) the Abe's Oddysee...

And then AE, it was the first game i brought( before i had a PSone) Then i got hooked. Me some friends start to draw the charceters coz we thuoght there w're like 'em. His mother was the only one who finnished the game. And so on.

My Big Brother brought AO close to it's launch date in England for reasons currently unknown. Either played it round his mates or just thought it look pretty good. Though he doesn't care for Oddworld as much as I do, he's still a better player

I invested in a PS2 at launch time. I wanted to buy PS2 and PS1 games to go with it, since I'd never owned a playstation previously and PS2 is backward compatible. Well, I got Madden NFL 2001(at the time it was cool) and Oddworld:AE, which my sister recommended. I loved AE so much, I began drawing sligs. I just loved their design. OWI is what helped me develop my artistic talents. I don't show much of my art here, because most of it goes with the novel and short story I'm writing. I'll post my Short Story once I get the copyrights.

It was around the time of release for Abe's Oddysee. My brother went to the video store one cold rainy October night and picked up Oddworld Abe's Oddysee. I remembered the comercial Oddworld Abe's Oddysee and when I saw those comercials it was like scary but gave me an ah feeling. Well when my older brother brought it home I came down to my basement which is like my family room and I saw him playing that same scary game that I saw on the wierd comercials. Ever since rented it I was hooked so I week later I dished out some cash and bought the stinken game.

Same here. When Abe's Oddysee came out, I drew stuff from it all the time, and I still do!

I guess I should have added a "yet" to the end of that statement. I was actually looking at EB today to see if they had any used copies of Abe's Oddysee and Exodus.

My brother's friend lent us a bunch of games when we first got our PSOne [actually we were late in getting a console in our family for reasons I don't remember now]. Abe's Exoddus was one of these games and I instantly fell in love with it. It was the first time a game had had such a great impact on me, which is probably why I am still here now.

But anyways, the first game I bought was Abe's Oddysee as I found it in a PC store under their "Platinum" range. I soon after bought Abe's Exoddus for the PC and eventually the two PlayStation versions when I was able to find them.

It was on the demo disk that came with my PlayStation, which I got at Crimbo '97. I finally got the same some time in the summer. I remember it was a day I went with my mum to pick elderflowers. It was also the fourth PS game I got. Wow, my memory's not so bad as I remember.

I used to play over at a neighbour's house when I was much younger, and one day he brings home the full version of Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee. Now, if there was ever a game I was fully immersed into, it had to be Oddworld. We all took turns, and even after the many days and weeks of playing, we never did complete Rupture Farms

After a while, we decided to save up, and bought our PlayStation. Abe's Oddysee was on the demo disk that was free in the console. Eventually, I decided to actually purchase the game. Haven't looked back since.

Well my friends always told me about these two games and how great they were. For my one friend's birthday a few years ago I bought her AE. Still hadn't played it myself.

Then I bought myself an Xbox for Christmas 2 years ago..and picked up MO for it (remembering how good they said the first two were) and was hooked!

I ended up buying myself a PSOne and the first two games to complete my collection!

When I got my first playstation it came with a demo that had AO on it. It's all my sister played on as we didn't have many games to start with. I watched her, got hooked so we bought the game and it went from there. As I was only little I couldn't play it very well but I drew pictures and stuff and so on. Then we bought AE and so on and so on.........

I watched my cousin play it and borrowed Abe's exoddus. I accidentally broke it and when I went to buy a replacement I bought Abe's oddysee. Then I bought Abe's exoddus recently again so really it was because I saw a freind watch it.

I had a PSX for christmas '97 and it came with V rally and Oddworld: Abes Oddysee. It wasn't until a few weeks after christmas that I actualy started to like the game.

I bought AE when it came out, then MO when that came out.

I started playing AO from the Demo Disk with the playstation. A friend was playing the game and was stuck with finding the 13'th mud. So I wanted to help him but we kept starting over cuz we liked ****ing around.
When we finnished the game I forgot about it for a while untill I read the review in a game magazine I just had been subscribed for for a few months (still am to the day of today BTW). Then when I saw it would aslo be on PC I got to the store's and bought it. Though I never came further with the game then mid stockyard escape and just forgot about then. Then Exoddus came out, ofcourse bought it, and finnished it. It was then I rememberd I also had AO I still had to finnish and so the storyline was a little messy for me :P.

Ah... beautiful time's!!
I remember: "So... get me outa here! And help me resque the others."
In the full game I was always like... ok... why the heck did they cut that one out? But now I know, it was part of the story. He didn't know he was the savior yet :P.

Back when i was in first school i managed to get a hold of the Abe's Oddysee demo and was really taken aback in every aspect. I played and played that demo until my eyes hurt. I went and baught it as soon as i had the money, £30 was quite a bit back when i was about 5 - 7 years old. Then before christmas one year Abe's Exoddus came out and i went down after school to Woolworths for days on end to look at the back of the case. Got it for christmas, still got and play both the games, not a scratch on them, think i've even got backups of them cos' i'd cry if i nacked them lol.
