Over the past week it has come to our attention that we are in dire need of extra server resources. As a result, the management have decided to upgrade and swap over to another server, as such, some downtime will occur. This new server is owned by the same people, just a different company name, as they have been great to us so far. Essentially, we are not "moving" everything ourselves, the server admin will do it all for us, but a hard drive move will need to be completed. This means we will have to close the forums for about a day, if all goes well.
You might be asking what exactly are the extra resources we need, after only being on the server for a little under four months. The plan we are currently on limits us to 400 MB of space. Because we are rapidly using up that small amount (in actual fact, we have about 20 MB left) we have needed to seek out a newer alternative. We could easily have stayed put, and just got an upgrade. But for the price of the upgrade, we could get even more for the same price if we moved. One such reason we need the new space is for our upcoming secret project, which requires a hell of a lot of space, I'm told
We are hoping to complete the move this very Monday. So the forums will be shut, to prevent any additional data being added while the move is made. Oddworld Universe and Oddworld-Web will continue to function, as Oddworld-Web is completely file based, and Oddworld Universe's database is hardly significant (in terms of space
).
