Release Date

Hello there ye loyal buds,

I was just noticing that there are some websites and even some magazines that have published a release date for the next game. What's up with that? I don't even know that! It will be posted at oddworld.com when it's set. Any other dates that you may see prior to that are pure speculation.

Hope that clears things up a bit! Now, back to my brew!

Well, Im glad that we got confirmation on an old rumor from you. Anyways, thats how it seems things have always worked. Gamestores usually put a tentative release date so that people will go like oh lets preorder that game.

I went last christmas to gamestop, and I asked about OW4 and Halo 2. They said they had no information on OW4, and werent taking preorders yet. But they said that Halo 2 would probably be out that following august. Well lets just say, they were definately wrong and I knew they would be.

Yeah Alf its good that we got this info from you. I too was suspicious about that April 2004 realease time. It just dident seem right. I made a thread about this so called April 2004 release date. I knew there was something wrong with it. And its confirmed to be rumer just as I thought.

So, what happens to those poor schmucks who preorder the game? They still get it, just later than expected, right?

most likely...

I've pre ordered games with false release dates many times in the past, if it's a reliable store (such as gamestop) they will see to it that you get the game when it's available, even if they lied about it's release date.

of course i dont want to end the kiss-ass tradition so, Hiya Alf, uyou have been coming by more often i've noticed. hope to see you s'more soon

Yeah, they cant not give you the game when it comes out. Otherwise they could get in real big trouble. Anyways Ive still got H2 ordered with gamestop. It will of course, come when its finished, but I will have a guaranteed copy the day it comes out.

And I plan on doing the same for OW4 as soon as they take preorders.

Thanks for the news, Alf. Or, rather, the anti-news. It's good to be... well, I was going to say 'clear on the matter', but since we now don't have a release date, everything's fuzzier than before. Anyway, you know we appreciate it, so good on you, and thanks again for the deconfirmation.

Well for bad or good. Well, atleast we have some form of an update, and some kind of news, even if it deconfirms another news bit, or gossip.

Oddworld 4 is the next game to be released by Oddworld Inhabitants, featuring a character we suspect will be called The Stranger. He's a Steef, and by trade works as a bounty hunter, but he's apparently in trouble with a couple of poachers, which you can see in the Spectrum 10 image. It also appears that The Stranger will have the ability to alter between his natural centaur-like physique, and his disguised humanoid form.

The game itself will be much more open-ended than previous games, relying more on exploration more than stealth or jumping. Interestingly, it will also incorporate aspects of First-Person Shooting, which is sometimes that's caused a bit of contraversy, but I don't know why, especially when there are far more valid points to get concerned about, like the uninventive character design. Anyway, it's almost definitely destined to be a great game. Oh, and did I mention it's going to be a Western?
