Strange...
I've got AE, and when I got my new XP Home comp. it worked fine!

Try re-installing after you scan your hard-drive. I can't see why it wouldn't work the first time, though.

All of the Windows XP range unfortunately has issues when installing old games. Although my AE/AO installation worked perfectly, if worse comes to worse and you really want to play it on your new computer, you can have your system perform "dual boot" meaning it has an option of running 2 operating systems and gives you a choice at startup. Just partition your hard drive and stick your Win98 SE cd (or other) in and install to the empty partition.

On the Microsoft website there are updates for this sort of problem but not all games will be addressed.

Is that before installation, or after installation when you try to run the program? That message does not sound familiar to me unfortunately

You said in your first message you can't run AE anymore - does that mean it used to run on this new computer of yours? It works fine on my WinXP HE.

So after it's installed. Are you sure it's not that annoying error dialogue that asks you to send a message report to microsoft? Hmmm what version of WinXP HE you running?

Hey I checked my version but sorry man... 2.0.0.0. I've also got WinXP HE build 5.1 Build 2600. Have you tried e-mailing technical support at Oddworld?

Don't take this the wrong way either but are you using a backup or "burnt" version of the game? I've been told when you play burnt games in WinXP, you get the "send error report" message 99% of the time.

E-mail tech support at Oddworld. I'm quite sure you're not the only one out there with this problem. Other than that I hope I helped. Good luck
