:
Spoiler forum someone who could be a normal mod such as Khanz, or for help someone also really experienced for it.
Woohoo, my name was mentioned. Actually I wouldn't mind helping with the Fan Corner since you said you needed help. I have some ideas and shtuffs, but I'll not get ahead of myself.

I don't think that we need to get completely knew mods, but a couple changes here and there could be useful. I think if the mods are changed it should be a vote like last time, and that current mods should be given a choice whether or not they wish to continue with the new mods. Or something.

(I've got to stay hip so...) Max for GD! Overthrow Alcar!

Wheeee....~

Wow! I can't believe this! Actually two people said that I could be a mod... Thanks! Ya made me happy^_____^ <---see?

Anyway, my own opinion is, that hobo or dripik would make good mods. They're both very active, especially dripik-- he's a great guy in general. He knows how to give advises without sounding rude or cheeky.

Why does everyone get so exited about being a moderator? Do they look forward to bossing people around and closing their topics for no apparant reason?

Sorry, I just don't think people are really realising the responsibilties of being a mod.

Trust me, the novelty wears off. After a while you start wishing you were back as an ordinary user. You'll start to miss being able to go off on holiday without HAVING to tell someone.

It feels like you are getting more power and freedom, but in fact it's just more work and another chore.

Listen you halfwit layabout, NEVER tell me that you are "helping" people being a mod. That's the most shit I've ever heard anyone say.

You would be helping someone if you got off your damn ass and went out to your local volunteer homeless center to work there. You would be helping people if you went out to third world countries and helped deliver medical supplies.

I hardly consider this place "helping" anyone. It's just a place people go to talk about stuff when they're bored.

Some people really have got the wrong idea about what a forum is for.

you are a perfect exemple of those kind of people...
you apparently don't understand you can talk to people without insulting them...

also you say moderators have " responsibilties", I would like to know what "responsibilties " you think we have? Just to know if you have any idea of what we are doing

oh yeah, please try to not put so much insults in your next post

Its helping on another scale, IMO. Making browsing an online hangour a bit easier. Nothing huge, but helping none the less. Generally, I notice you tend to have some view frames set a bit smaller, like the "music is not art" thing or whatever.

Not that its bad you believe differently, but more good is going to be coming from Xavier than several others, hes a superb mod.

There are way too many listed. An ideal number (my opinion) of Moderators would be along the lines of the following:

General Oddworld Discussion
2 Moderators

Spoiler Forum
1 Moderator

Oddworld Help
1 Moderator

Off-Topic Discussion
2 Moderators

Fan Corner
2 Moderators

Non Oddworld Art & Literature
1 Moderator

Oddworld RPG
1 Moderator

Any forum that wasn't mentioned are forums they don't offer Moderator-Ship for normal members. Other forums like the branches of OIPT are decided by the OIPT, not the OWF.

Even that diagram above isn't an ideal number, it's a lenient number on my behalf. I really disagree that more should be added, I think that there should be less. As it was with the S'laskia / Danny / Anna era. Too many make it cluttered.

If you want my opinion, I think it is best to not have the new elections at all. I also think that a timed period of Moderator-Ship is a bad idea, we have great Moderators here, and no need to elect any new ones. That's my opinion, anyway.

Alcar...

I don't think it will happen for awhile though if it does happen. Its never been confirmed that new Mods will be appointed. I just brought it up to see if there was a possability of that from happening. I am not trying to get it confirm that it will happen.

All I know is that we should do this every now and then based upon how well previous Mods did. I am not saying get rid of all Mods I am saying appoint a few new ones to replace ones that don't live up to their responsabilties. The one thing we don't want are Mods whome don't do their jobs. And a lot of Mods now do their jobs pretty good. I am talking about replaceing inactive Mods. And they may have an excuse that they couldn't do their job because of certain circumstances. Well I say too bad you did not live up to your responsiabilty someone else will take your place. It may sound mean but a little bit of strictness can be a good thing. I say you have to be tough in order to get things done and if its replaceing other mods then so be it.

Jeez, you're all talking like it's the end of the road. Truth be told, I couldn't give a diahoea attack if I never become a mod at the Forums; like Xavier, I just think I'd be able to benefit the Forums and the members to whatever small degree it would allow me. Besides, I would have been voted GD mod if I were at the Forums when the last elections were held.

:

There were less members back then, and we'd all been on a lot less time. Trouble is now a lot of members are highly respected and it seems only fair they should be recognised with some higher status. But that's just me, I'm probably being too rewarding as usual.

I've been a mod in a different forum for a while now, and I have found that it's hardly anything to write home about. It's fun for the first few weeks, but after that it gets boring.

Which is incidentally why I am so exited about Moderating the Oddlympics. The Oddlympics are going to be genuinely fun to work with. Much better than sorting out fights and closing spam topics.

And I said to you while in Oddchat, that Xavier is one of the best mods you have.

But yeah, vote Death for Oddlympics!

Happy KHANZ FOR ADMIN!

Read my signature to find out what I think.

Actually I don't think we really need to have election. If we do have elections they should only be for a few postitions where it is obviously needed. Places where the current Mods need help or no longer visit these forums on a regular enough basis.

We need to have two regular mods for each major forum so that when someone is gone, there is still someone to take care of deleting, moving, changing, etc...

No, not at all. I wish I could visit more often, but my lifestyle is a piece of shit right now. I need to pull myself together.

As for the elections, I thought Alcar already had people in mind, and was going to do some promoting as Oddworld 4's release date loomed.

And I suppose I would have to just step aside from my duties if that were the case? You forgot to keep me on for fan corner. I feel Ive been doing a great job so far.

Anyways before I go off on something like that, I agree on several different things, new mods should not have to kick out those of us here who have been doing our jobs well right now.

I also agree for no relections except in certain instances, or really seasoned member being "promoted" and ideas that have been mentioned. Such as: a mod is not living up to his/her duties, Or in total power abuses, or other extreme circumstances.

For extended absense (this is just an idea Im not for it completely and Im not against it either, just an idea to toss around)

Long extended absenses, not like a day or two, etc. But for several weeks, months, etc. You cant really take down a mod because of maybe a conflict or vacation, because not everyone lives here, or can be here everyday.

Other time related issues could be if it was something like a personal problem at home that needed a bit of time to be sorted, or a death in the family or of a parent, other things that the particular staff member whoever it may be would discuss with the admins. I guess you could place a temporary mod in that persons place for the absense of the other person.

These are just ideas Im throwing out for discussion.

:
We need to have two regular mods for each major forum so that when someone is gone, there is still someone to take care of deleting, moving, changing, etc...
I need a new second mod in Fan Corner! Its hard doing everything yourself and it leaves no time to create new ideas for that area. Or even update your own stories, etc. But thats AB and Alcar's decision.

Just because we share a forum, does not mean that we are anything to do with one-another.

In fact, we have been asking for a seperate sub-forum.

Death's right. We do not work with or really even talk to the OIPT team. Even when I first started the Oddlympics, it was only me working on it...no other OIPT team people. Now it's me and Death.

We'd just like to stop being associated with the OIPT. We do not work with them, and most likely we never will. The OIPT polls and Oddlympics are very different "activities", and the only reason the Oddlympics was branded with the OIPT name is because I proposed the idea to Kaimana when I was part of the OIPT Team.

This may sound picky and rude, but please, stop associating us with the OIPT.

Phew. Done.
