AO, it's simply the best. It has that unique dark atmosphere... Scary-- I might say.

....yeah...

Munch seems to having a tough time, I think MO was great because it was different to Abe games, and that's the point I think. Two different characters with two different oddysees. The Movie sequences were great. And I missed it when I finished it, I even dreamt there were more levels!

I do often dream of Oddworld.

I like how in AO/AE a lot of the time you had to hide in the shadows. I think this was going to be implemented in MO, but never happend. Remember that Sligtoss movie where Abe throws that Slig into the recycler? If you watch it again, you'll notice that Abe was hiding in the shadows while the Slig was lighting himself a cigerette. Very cool.

I have to agree on the issue of somewhat bad camara angles....that got to be a bit frustrating during game play in MO....I have not yet completed the PC versions of AO & AE so it's not fair for me to make a final judgement about which is better....can't wait to do so since I upgraded the graphics card on my computer..... but I see things that I like about each version..... one thing I can say for sure, the Oddworld sreies is one of my favorite games....Thxx OWI....

As far as story goes, MO has a better story and more emotion than the other 2 games. Of course this is all OPINION and does not say which game is better.

But I can see where OWI is going.....what they have done and where they want to go. AO was a strange game.....odd to say the least. It's structured around tradition 2D platforms, but it has very good art, fantasy art that cannot be beat...only matched, and the tasks you must do in the game, while becoming familiar over several attempts, leaves the player enthusiastic in coming back to the same task . And you have such interesting characters......odd as they may be, you feel for them, so you will be ready to get them across that pit or meat saw on the first try next time because oyu can't possibly see them cut into little piece and fly all over the place (though these physics do look cool and don't get old themselves)

The character design is Oddworld's strong point....that and the art. The characters are the best characters I have ever come across. (granted I dont play games too much anymore, but from what I do play, Oddworld is the best) When I first saw the opening movie for Munch, I was moved. I felt so bad for the gabbits and for Munch. That really never happened before from a video game. (No, sorry, none of the Final Fantasy games really moved me.....just had to stretch after a while )

The dark, deviant art left with the 3D conversion, which was a disappointment, but the brightly colored world and cleaner factories still offered awe. The griminess of the 2D games may return later on, but that griminess is most suitable to a 2D backdrop.....like a painting. The art in AO and AE were paintings of grime. The art in MO were painitngs that got a 3D face lift and became art with depth. It's really a matter of opinion, but I liked the 2D grime better than the 3D crispness. I hope OWI can find a way to make the 3D crispness as grimy as possible in the future.

And the motif of Oddworld of greedy industrialists fighitng fanatical environmentalists parrallels todays world all too well. PLus you have the mysterious "Khanzumers" who are not yet revealed. They are the drive behind the industry.......Abe is the leader of the movment against the industrial force. The world of Oddworld is a fantasy world, but one that is modeled ofter our own world, and it's a big allegory that really makes you think in terms of our own technologically advancing world.

so whihc do I like better? AO and AE, just because I'm grimy

I like them all but I prefer AO and AE because its so inspireing with their incredable envirorments. I love painting stuff like that.

Here is a question what do you think of the design for Steef? Big difference from what we saw before. In many ways it reminds me of a sort Oddworld slash greek mythical creature in which Steef is.

I like AO and AE better. Why?? Well, Mo was a bit disapointing.
I think its too funny, and that doesn't fit in oddworld. Oddworld games should be dark, scary and exiting, like in Abe's games.
I just hate that BOING sound that comes from Munch when he jumps.

And i noticed those clips with Abe throwing the slig in the recycler,
was this supposed to be in the game??? Did they cut out very much, out of MO??
In that case:
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

AO does that to you. I remember playing AO and dreading having to enter a new screen, in case a Slig was present.

That was because Abe is very vunerable, and Sligs are very trigger-happy.

AO/AE - No doubt about it!

The artwork and environments in AO/AE can only be described as "visually stunning," compared to that of MO (or what I have seen of it). I agree that it would take more time to develop the 3D characters of MO (character combinations of movement etc.) but there's just some things you can't do with 3D...

My opinion is also attributed by the thousands of "screens" of gameplay created in AO/AE, each more detailed than the last (remember Scrabania/Scrab Vaults?) Definitely a lot more difficult to create than a single 3D landscape with various "sprites" here and there.

Also, what happens to consoles? Anyone still have a Super Nintendo or Sega Mega-Drive, or even a Nintendo 64, and still use it more than once a day? For the sake of Oddworld Inhabitants, I myself do not want MO to become victim to those "X-Box + 10 games for so and so dollars" advertisements when a new console comes out.

Computers have been around for as long as people can remember, and it's the only platform that doesn't get completely replaced. Similar components and more upgrades every now and then, but it's still "a computer!" People will always have computers longer than "game-general" consoles, and therefore a dusted, valued and memorable copy of AO/AE will DEFINITELY be given another go
