Any stealth hobbiests here? If so, show yourselves!

I do stealth full time, mostly with one or two freinds and we invade an abandoned building at night, shooting up targets etc.

We think we may be the only ones, but I bet there must be more somewhere...

Wow, that actually sounds like a really cool hobby. I have never heard of something like that...

So, do you guys kinda dress up spy-ish, and infiltrate (so to speak) an old building? Do you use live ammunition on these "targets?" Or just paintballs or something like that?

In real life, I like to act stealthy, not to the degree of attacking targets though!

I just sneek up on people, or slip past them

But I'd never considered stealth as a hobby. I may have to investigate. Could you elaborate this pastime?

Yeah, thats exactly what we do...

We wear flak jackets, black clothes, holster belts, night vision goggles (waterproof). We use standard issue USArmy knives, Beretta Super Elite pistols, H&K MP5a SMGs SAS special NATO clip (33 rounds), Colt Commando M4A1 Assault Rifles with standard issue NATO clip, Flashbang type 1's, Smoke screen grenades (any type, so long as they work), and door explosives.

The ammunition we use is salt slug, a type of salt-based ammuntion that only perfarates the paper targets, but not skin.

We did try paintballs before, but didn't want to fire them in case it wrecked our other gear, and we don't like using BB guns because they aren't realistic enough. So we use the real thing, but with this special ammo.

The building we infiltrate changes each week, and we have permission to do this on both of them. One of them is a large science research laboratory that highly resembles the Black Mesa facility from Half-Life, and the other one is an old freight train loading bay with lots of sheds and warehouses.

Stelth? why, Stelth is my middle name! i can sneak unoticed through a crod of 3 and no-one would see me. Maybe it's because i'm an inch tall. who knows

Just to give you a feel for how expensive this hobby is, the nightvision goggles were GBP £218, USD $295(ish).

I have just reminded myself that I didn't tell you the rules or how the game is played, so here goes:

There are two teams, the defense team, and the infiltrate team. The defense team has to do their very best to secure the site, and make it impenetrable before the infiltrate team. And the infiltrate team has to try and get past the security, shooting targets around the building (which incidentally has no lights).

IF you get caught on camera, or by a gaurd, then they sound the alarm and it goes on to the next round. But if you capture a gaurd (or a camera) then they are out for that whole round.

Plus, all the targets are moved around the building each round, so you never know what is around the next corner. Some targets you have to blow up, some you have to shoot down.

i've snuk up on 10 of my friends and gotten them into a blood choke (not fully preforming it mind you, but enough to get them woozy) and dragged them out of a room un-noticed.

That's what we do to the gaurds. Think of the game like real life mock up Splinter Cell.

A lot of questions.

so these guards just allow you to sneak up on them and "disable" them? And you have permission? from who? how much to rent the space out for the stealth games? You must have some good paying job to be able to afford all that equipment and firearms, plus be able to go and play these games. I still don't get the guard situation. How many people are on each team? There msut be at least 5. If there are only 2 or 3, the infiltrating team would ahve a high advantage.

Explain this more: where are thee buildings? How are you able to just use them. And if they are abandoned, why are there guards and cameras?

NO, the gaurds are part of the security team, and we sneak up behind them to disable them YES, but not to cause them harm. The gaurds aren't actual gaurds for the abandoned building, just people similating them, and trying to catch us. On the next time we do it, some of the gaurd team will be on the infiltration team.

There are 3 on the infiltrating team, and anything up to 5 or 7 on the gaurd team. And the cameras are installed when we get to the site.

I am part of a club that does this, and we all pay for it together.

That sounds like a cool hobbie. The only thing I do that is Stealthy is shouting paintballs at my neighbor during when It's dark out to get back my skateboard.

It's only possible with a group of freinds, and you all need to put equal amounts of money in for it to work. You have to be really into it, and not spend your money on as many other things.

Plus you need alot of permission to do it. You need licenses for the guns, grenades and explosives, you need permits to use the land and abandoned buildings, and also the local law enforcement will need to know that you're doing it.

I would advise InfiLite to anyone who wants to play but can't be bothered with all the guns and money. All you need is Nightvision goggles and a torch. One person pretends to be a security gaurd, the other navigates in the dark, trying to get a target, or just to jump the security gaurd. Both of you take turns on each round, and you record the scores as it goes. Pretty simple really.

This sounds really cool. When did you and your friends come up with doing something like this? Or what sparked the interest? It would be cool to see you guys put together a video or something so we could see it or use the security cams in these buildings etc, or mount a vid cam onto one of your team mates. Although I guess it would have to be nightvision enabled. Anyways continue talking about this, Im listeningn.

well, yeah, I find it hard to believe you. Maybe it is because I live in the an urban area where things like this don't happen too often. I just can't believe you have the cops' permission to do this.

Beleive me, the cops were the hard part! But because we registered as an official club for doing this, and have all the right documentation etc. then it's all legal. All the cops at the local station think it is really cool, and sometimes they donate things like retired bullet-proofs and flashlights.

The thing that sparked the interest, was my person liking of abandoned buildings, coupled with my mates similar interests, and a mutual interest for games like splinter cell and half life.

We wanted to create something that would enable us to all join in, and do something much more than just play multiplayer computer games. We wanted to design a game where we could make computer games real. Where nobody gets hurt, but we still use guns.

The nearest we had like that over here in Australia (believe they are worldwide) is a group called the Cave Clan. They go into old buildings and sewers and all that kind of thing, just to explore them. Never do any damage or anything like that. But I don't think they got permission for all of the places they went. I used to see them advertise w/ stickers on lighpoles and stuff and wondered what they were. Then I read an article on them that said it was getting harder for them to do their thing cause cops would get them mixed up w/ vandals. And I didn't see the stickers around after that. I'm sure they're still around, but just not noticed anymore. I actually considered joining them, as exploring old buildings is awesome. But I don't quite have the sense of adventure as some, as would be more concerned of getting caught.

how did this club get M4A1's? they are special forces weapons. Acutally, how did they get automatic weapons when they are not available to civilians!

I also do this too. It is called URBEX or Urban Exploring. Me and a freind go with a camera to abandoned buildings to take photos and explore. It's like urban potholing.

Lots of people do this - but if you want to meet people that do, or find local groups, go to www.infiltration.org and either read through articles or talk on the forums.

Also, if you are more interested in the photos, www.abandoned-places.com is a really good place to start! I really like the work that guy does. Hopefully my website should be up soon, which will contain photos of abandoned places also.

The answer to that is, we buy blank firers. We have to modify them to be able to work with our special ammunition, (which incidentally won't work in any normal gun, nor will our guns accept ordinary ammuntion. The local law enforcement know that we have these guns, and they also know that they don't fire lethal rounds, nor do they have the possibility of ever firing lethal rounds.

Because it isn't special forces exclusive. The Remington Wingmaster for instance, is widely available as surplus to many police forces around the US, AND is also used as a special forces weapon.

The special forces lineup is usually glocks, mp5s, mac 10s, desert eagles, spas 12s, wingmasters, C4 and sig sauer pistols. It is possible to get hold of any gun produced independantly from the government or government military but you have to have the right documentation and license. The M4A1 cost us $4582 inc red tape, we only have one and it is one of the best guns we have.

Our best gun has to be our own home made gun, we called it the JAK 9, it has 4 barrels, joined together in a minigun fashion. When all 4 barrels are loaded, if you pull the trigger, the top barrel will fire, then if you pull again the second will fire, and using the recoil action of the second shot it reloads the top barrel. This goes on forever until you run out of ammo. The barrels don't rotate, but it works just like a gatling gun.

Certainly a kickass weapon.

So...when did you start this "club"(well, "club" isn't a cool enough word to decribe what you're doing, but oh well!)?
How many members are involved? I would be really interested in something like that.
