Fan Made Creatures

Hello all!

Being the OWF Fan Game Expert, I wanted to start up a thread for a place to discuss the creatures that you the fans have made. How do they behave? What do they eat? What do they do? Where do they live? Do they have a religion? I wanna know! Spare no detail! Anything goes! OR, perhaps your making a creature that you want ideas or advice on it? Either way, I am interested in hearing what you have! If its good enough, I may consider asking you if you would like to see it in my game Oddworld: Mollucks Revenge.

You can catch some details on my game at the "If you could make an Oddworld game, what would it be like?" thread, where I have posted pictures and details.

Oh sweet I have many Oddworld creatures that I have come up with in my fanfics like this monster known as a "Rorm Beast"

When you think of the Rorm beast think of the Rancor in Star Wars. This ferocious creature is native to many small lost continents far in the south of Oddworld. The creature is 50 ft tall and his mouth when opened is half of that. This creature has huge claws and can move swiftly through dense jungles and such. Its favorite food are meeches. They have been known to be beast of burden for many Governments of the southern lost continents.

They have a horrable temper and a massive hunger for blood. They usually come out at night but occasionally you would see one every now and then in the day. I will draw you a picture of it and then post it here for ya.

Sounds like it would make a cool boss in OW4. Looking forward to the pics...

Are there any religions or followings for it? where does it like to live? (IE Caves etc)...

Reese

Mainly Fleeches you say? quite small for a monster with a 25 foot mouth gape...
I would say Kintos and paramites would make better food...

No I said Meeches as its favorite food. Its like the T-rex of Oddworld. In my stories I made the Meech seem like a Rapter and the Rorm like a T-Rex. They would attack each other and of Course the Rorm would gulp the Meech down. They have been also known eat scrabs, paramites, Elums and other things aswell.

There is no religion its part of the wildlife. It lives usually in real dark muddy swamps. It makes its own nest out of mud and water and blood and the bones from previous meals. And its generally an unpleasent creature. I will have to show you my drawing of this creature. Its really cool! the reason the mouth can be wide open like that is because usually it has the ability to breath fire

Looks pretty odd to me! Keep up the FANTASTIC work! a very good idea to say the least, I will consider a possible place for it in my game, although I can't promise anything...

Reese

PS: Looks like it evolved from the Kinto, is this the case or am I imagining it?

Actually thats amazeing because I never knew that looked sort of like a Kinto. I actually got the idea for this off of a creature that appeared in Star Wars Episode 2 Attack of The Clones. It was in the Arena scene at the end of the film. It was that cat like creature that slashed Amadala in her back.

When I saw that I thought that is exactly how I would want the Rorm to act and be like. Real vicious. I knew I couldn't copy off of that because I needed to make something original. I was thinking dinosaur only Oddworld styal. Pretty much a reptile/mammal that lived in its own filth and had the hunger for blood. A Nightmare of the night that all would fear if ever encountered, and makes creatures that we seen already look harmless to this beast.

I made it strong because one the Governments of the Southern Lost Continents includeing the Continent of Sailas which was in my fanfics breed these creatures to be Beasts of burden. But also these creatures flurish in the Jungles of the southern hemisphere of Oddworld. Thats the whole idea on this creature. Read my fanfics they are in my stories. Its called Oddworld Conquest of Lost Continent and Oddworld Crusades of the Relec. There are tons more creatures and characters I made up but I will just stick with the Rorm.

Both of these stories are related. Crusades is a sequel to Conquest. But I am not quite done with Crusades though.

Here is a creature of mine: The Flamiter. Its a cross breed of the paramite and the slog. It leaps onto its prey, clenching it with its huge claws, and ripping it to shreds with its huge razor sharp teeth. This creature feeds mainly on fast moving targets such as Scrabs, but has been known to invade slog kennels and paramite nests. This creature is like the physical incarnation of a twister, it can go from docile, to viscous in a split second. This creature is nicknamed the "cruise missile" because it locks on to its target and then launches at it. The Flamiter is around twice the height and size of a male scrab, and lives quite happily in shallow holes and caves. This creature is hunting game, and is considered un-harvestable as it just jumps out of the stockyards and kills sligs. Although this creature is hunted, it seems to remain steady in numbers.

Hope you all like it...

I dont think giant animals on OW should be included. Sure, if they're in water such as the Sea Rex but giant land dwelling beings would just spoil it.

I "made" a creature called a Breg. It's an industrialist species which torso slightly resembles that of a scrabs (basically, it has no arms) but instead of being lean and muscular, it is slightly overweight. They have three legs; one in the front and two in the back. Each leg looks more like a long slender singer with a joint mid-way down. its head is similar to a scrab because it homes forward and bend down over the chest. The difference is that Breg have no beaks...they are much less fierce looking. The Breg play the roles of teachers, political figures, and judges.

Naturally, these creatures once thrived in the arctic. There, arms would not be needed, and if anything, the cold would only freeze them off. Their faces evolved stretching low to the ground, shielding their bodies and making at far easier to see the ground in front of them. Their eyes, over time, developed a semi-transparent layer covering their entire eye in order to ease the pain on their eyes induced by the stinging wind and sleet. Although it protects their eyes from the freezing cold, in temperature-controlled climates it only blurs their vision, and is now more of a menace to them than an aid. The protective layer gives the illusion that they have no pupils.

Glukkons, realizing a worthy opportunity, have provided the Breg with mechanical arms and mask/helmet/ visor/binocular "headgear" which allows them to see better in exchange for criminal pardons, their ideas taught in school as morally right, and permission to "revamp" all geographical factors as they see fit.

Unfortunatly, I don't have a scanner, nor a program in which i could attempt to recreate my sketches of them

First of all, welcome to the Oddworld Forums KintoKid! Great to see new members starting off in threads like this...
You can buy scanners relatively cheaply, as when they break, most people just buy new ones because they cost so much to repair. All you need to scan the images in is MsPaint, as that has an option in there that allows you to import from a scanner. I suggest PhotoPaint, as that can handle scanned images quite smoothly. Depending on where you live, a scanner can be around $25 to $50. Not alot of money really, considering how useful it will become.

Anyway, back on subject, these ideas are all fantastic! Keep them coming!

I've thought of an ODD native type creature, i would show you a picture, but i can't draw, i've attempted to draw it before, but i failed, so if anyone would like to have a go at drawing it, be my guest. I'll describe it to you:

This creature is about shoulder hight to a Mudokon, their skin colour is like a light/shady brown, covered in a thin layer of hair, they have thin arms, and their hands have five long thin fingers (no thumbs), which have five joints, incuding knuckles, and on the middle joints they have extra fingers growing out from them, with sharp finger nails which would be used for digging quickly and self deffence (so they would have ten fingers on both hands). Their legs would be thin with two knees, and their feet would look similar to a Mudokons. Also, their heads would be smaller than a muds (with no ponytail).

I hope i have got every detail in there, so if there's anyone who wants to attempt it go right ahead. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me.

This is another creature I came up with in one of my fanfics. Its called a Leena. Leenas are the natural counterpart of the Greeter. These creatures are two ft tall beasts of peer hunger. They are constantly hungry and are alweys eating. These creatures were believed that the Glukkons used its shape for the design of the Greeters. These creatures travel in packs are generally unpleasant. They will stop at nothing to eat a Mudokin. Their favorite meals though are scrabs. They live on Mudos and most of Oddworld in tropical jungle type regions. I give you the Leena! They go by the color of Blood red and a dark green under part

how about a flying slog or something

it would be like a normal slog, but have a rocket pack on it that enables it to fly around.

Lampriles - sorta like a treefrog.

Plains elums.

Polar sligs (Hm, half my page has been eaten. Grr. These have fur and pointy external ears, like a cat, but are otherwise pretty much the same as normal...).

These here are the "Plains variant" of the slog - they're called "Painted hunters".

Because I love plays-on-words... sea slig.

And as I got bored... wrote me a profile of normal sligs (as they behave in my fiction, anyway - as the "non-industrials" are a little different) as well...

Oh, and just because he's cute... Roven:

I made one called the gabbikon its a mix of the mudo and the gabbit. its about 4 ft. tall and has sharp teeth. the story i made for them is that the glukkons had the vykkers make the ultimate slaves since the mudos are growing dim unless they went to the native lands and stole them. so they skipped the rush and made the gabbikon, pretty bad name i think ,but oh well ill think of another if that don't work. I'll draw a picture when i have the time
Chow for now!
