Member Photo Album Idea

Okay, based on some discussion in the member picture thread, let's start talking about a member photo album and what we'd like to see it it.

Do you want to see more than a photo album, like integrate some basic info on members as well, like a profile? Or just keep with photos? More than one photo for members if they wish, or just have one per member? And would you like to see it auto-uploading (i.e. can upload your own photos) or you just send them to me and Peter to put up (I'm sure me and Peter would prefer it if members could upload. )

I wonder if there are any vBulletin hacks already out there that will allow us to impliment this (and mean less work for Peter too).

That is a great idea, i think a photo of each person is enough, more would be messy. There could also be a profile next to their photo would be great.

Some things to remember about the photo album when replying are, whether a new design is necessary or whether it is integrated into the current OWF styles. Or as suggested by Abe Babe, should their be a profile next to it? More than one photo?

And, I guess I could make the backend for it. Although there are two photo albums for vBulletin at vbulletin.org. However only one of them is good, and that one requuires damned GD image support for PHP. This GD image support is only available packaged together with the latest PHP version, something which only Justin can upgrade to (I think ).

I vote for one picture per person and a profile as well. But with the profile I think either one set person or other people should put together ideas to make it (such as any forum awards they have won, what they are known for etc but not have it include anything nasty.

I was thinking maybe in our individual photos we should add something other than our smileing mugs. Like each of us has a special talent or hobby we do right? Well why not sort of have that aswell in the photo album to go with our pictures like as a background element just so it represents who we are and what we do?

For example since I am an artist I can have a picture of me and my work I do. And someone else who plays guitar could have a picture of him or herself surounded by a musical type background.

Of coarse everyone would have to make their own picture background that represents you. That would be cool. I already got ideas on how I would like to represent myself and my art.

I'm thinking we would prepare 1 or 2 pictures to send to Abe Babe and Alcar. No profile stuff, though. Just a couple pictures.

A photoalbum for the forums is a great idea! It would let everyone to know each member on a more personal basis (I think?). But we should find out if everyone would agree and wouldn't mind having their photo of them put up?

My prediction is that not everyone will want to do this but the majority I think would.

I think there should be 1 picture and a profile. As for the setting, maybe if you're viewing it in the industrial setting, it could look like a wanted poster.
