Thoughts on the RPG Forum: Feedback Wanted

Now I rarely go into the RPG forum, but I wandered in there today to find some "changes" that were not even asked of the OWF staff. I've also been receiving some feedback sent to me by email.

Firstly I want to make it clear there is no such thing as a "mini mod". Not in the RPG forum or any forum. From what I remember of when I used to participate in the RPG, everyone used to help each other out and give feedback for rules, etc. There was no "power" structure, other than a moderator to ensure the place ran smoothly and to enforce basic rules of both the forum and RPG.

Secondly, I want some feedback (particularly from RPGers or members who would like to RPG, but haven't been able to). What kind of RPG would you like to see? A very informal one or a rules based RPG. Or would you like to see a combination? A "main" rules based RPG, with "allowed" sub (or informal) RPGs also going on which anyone can start and is not part of the main story.

I have yet to decide if a change in moderator will be needed, but I would like to hear what members think.

Alright, I still a bit new to the forums and RPG is my fave section. When I first started it, I liked that each person who started an RPG story had their own rules. Now it got me pretty upset when those people (not naming names) came in wanting to change everything about the RPG forum. First of all, it would be very difficult for people, especially on the internet, to keep track of all those rules they were trying to make. The simple, 'tell a story one character at a time' method that has worked in the RPG 'Work at Rupture Farms' has worked out quite well. That's what I think would be best, just let everyone have whatever they want in their own RPG's. If they wanna make it hard and have a lot of rules, go ahead. If they wanna make it simple and just tell a story, that's fine too. It's a RPG forum, not a school for the unexperienced RPGers, it should be fun! And that's what its all about, fun.

There, I said my peace.

I have to agree with Latamire, almost about everything.
I've noticed that there has been a lot of, how should I say,...- scolding, in the RPG-section.
A few members (I ain't gonna give any names out!) have been 'acting' superior, by making up rules and telling others how a "real" RPG should be played. ( I don't mean the MiniMod incidence with that.)

I also think that the 'simple' RPG's are the best way to do it(like dripik's Work at Rupture Farms and the new Sweatdrop Sweatshop).
Not that any other way would be ' negligible' in any way!

So there.
Peace !

Well I made an RPG about a few months ago and as it went it started to get really confuseing where everybody was on his or her own world and not going with the story. So I took it upon myself to get out of it and make a new RPG that had just a few rules so that everyone who participated in it would know the facts around the story and be on the same page.

I made it all fair because you were able send ideas to me and I would send ideas of mine to the other person by PM. So all of us shared our ideas. That way we knew how to approach our characters. Plus we would discuss everything before we wrote it just for the sake of not leaveing someone in the blue on what the heck is going on. I saw merging of RPG'S and that too prompted me to make my new one with a few guidelines in it. I was upset with my first one because someone merged with it and told everyone to go to his. Which pretty much ended my little campaign I had going. So far I havent touched my new RPG for months now because it seems people lost interest in it so I am letting it go and concentrait more on my fanfics. It is still open though so I am just waiting for any response.

The whole thing with me was that I was getting tired of seeing stories not end and not be completed with a great tale surrounding them. RPG'S are role playing games yes but they are also stories and what makes them fun is a very good and very long involved story. That was the vision I had and that is why I made a few guidelines with mine so that everyone who participated in it would expierence that involvement of a good long story. The grand vision I had was a great epic story that everyone together can make it happen by shareing our ideas with each other.
