Question

Then I will bring it back.
It says the worker class do not have sexual organs, but what about the originally free ones? If they didn't then it would just say 'Mudokons do not have sexual organs."
Which brings me to another question, which is not really related to this thread but going on my theory of the free Muds. How did the free Mudokons exist in AO before Abe had rescued anyone? I thought he was the first to escape. Which could mean perhaps they do birth young.

because it isn't right, Sam (the mudokon queen) has sexual organs, but she isn't a worker class

Im glad we got the whole "stubborn" thing sorted out. and I said your cause its shorter and easier to type. and im glad everyone likes my fart theory.
I, personally think Alf has something to hide and maybe all his info on this topic isnt true.
But theres another thing, how come Sam only lays males? Why does she never lay females, futer queens. I have to possible theories.
1)She can choose which to lay- its her own choice, then she would probably only lay males cos then when she died the glukkons would loose there suply of mudokons and "there suffering would be over!"
2)THe other theory is that the last egg she lays before dying or becoming infertile will hatch in to a female-a replacement queen.
Maybe someone could ask Alf (i dont know the site, myself ) or if anyone knows anything about how insects like bees or termites do it, that would be useful.

Asexual Reproduction

They could be like aphids or this kind of lizard. Depending on certain conditions, they can produce fertile eggs without mating. However, if that is the case, then all mudokons are of the same sex (if they are in fact like aphids, all of the young will be female). I forgot what the process was called... something beginning with P.

Splat, Sam doesn't lay males... the mudokon workers aren't male or female...

and the theory about laying an other queen when she will die is pretty good

Splat, you wanted to know how bees reproduce? There are male drone bees whose sole purpose is to mate with the queen. I think that after mating, they die. The male gamete is enough to last the queen it's entire life. The queen then continues to lay eggs(that are all female workers) and eventually lays another queen, not necessarily when it is about to die(Usually, after a certain period, the queen will stop laying eggs). This new queen goes off to form a new hive. If there is more than 1 queen, they will usually kill each other. However there are different kinds of bees and not all of them have hives that function in the same way.

Ah, i knew that bitabout drones dyin (there penis breaks off and they bleed to death, it was mentioned in one of the first to pages) but the rest of it is useful, maybe that is what its like for mudokons in the wild, before the glukkons came. Theyed lay males and occationally another female who would run off and start a new tribe. That way the mudokon race could have started with just one tribe. does anyone know about other species of bees or termites? THey may fit in with mudokons and what we know about them.

Also, earlier, when a picture of a mudokon minus the loin cloth was produced, i followed Oko's advise (that bit of punctuation was for you, Adder) and zoomed in. Ive been thinkin about what i saw, and i now think that the 2 slits may have been the shadow from the tiny penis.

Oh, and when i mention males i mean non-females.

Idea More From Canned Gabbiar

Splat, bees don't have penis. They have like these pouches and stuff that collect the gametes. And I think they die because they can't live without the gamete or something.

Now that you mention it, I do remember something about this species of honey bee. It seems that once the queen stops producing eggs, all of the bees will leave and migrate to a different area. I never finished watching the documentary so I didn't find out what happens once they reach their destination. The bees are able to produce young, but basically are like brainwashed (I think in a genetic way) to stop them from doing so. Any bee that attempts to "rebel" are usually killed.

Onto ants. I heard somewhere that in some species, when the queen dies, the whole colony dies. The queen produces eggs that all develop into female workers and soldiers. Now, like the bees, it eventually produces this swarm of other queens(reproductives) and drones. These are born with wings and they will fly off to form other colonies. Now, before they leave, the drones will mate with them (and then they die, I assume). I'm pretty sure that most of the queens die before they can create a new colony but some do. And as I mentioned earlier, this replaces the old hive which, I think basically get's wiped out. Although this part may not have any connection with mudokons.

I have also been able to draw a connection with something closer: Meerkats. Well basically, there is this one "queen" that dominates all the other meerkats in the group (which is always a family group). I thought this might have more to do with mudokons. You see, there is this dominant male type meerkat that mates with the queen. All other members of the family group are prohibited from breeding. If they do, they get banished from the group. The dominant male and the queen will continue to breed until one dies, in which case the next eldest member of the group will take over. Sometimes, males and females that can't wait any longer(they desire to mate) will leave the group to form their own tribe.

So it appears to me that Mudokons are like a mixture of bees and meerkats. Ants don't seem to have much of a connection in that they produce heaps of queens (although most don't survive).

Well, I guess that's enough of my babbling. I guess you're all getting pretty tired of it right? Well, if you need any more, tell me and I'll have more to say. This is a really interesting thread...

wow, so much information, so little time! A lot of info tha could and might relate to mudokons. I'm not saying that i dont beleive them but maybe these sorces of info may not be entirely correct (no effence meant, im not saying anyones stupid, gullible or lying). I think maybe Alf may have some adnormality, possibly caused by personal injery. Also, mudokons working for glukkons may have there sexual organs amputated by vykkers, or may be there "neutered" to stop "ideas"!

Well lets see...

The stuff on the bees I remembered from this documentary on Discovery Channel, the stuff on the ants is also from a documentary on Discovery channel and the Meerkat info was from a documentary I watched on National Geographic channel. You must remember that some of these apply to one species... other species may do things differently.

Native Mudokons

:
the native Mudokons are some old spiritual mudokons who weren't cached by the glukkons and they still survive in the wild. They were born before Sam was captured by the Magog Cartel
I dont know how old the cartel is. But it seems that the slaves in rupture farms have been there for a couple of generations other wise they would have more knowlege of the outside world. Either from having it experienced it themselves or passed on from the previous generation who did live in the wild. The fact that this knowlege seems to be non existent sugests to me that a few generations have been passed and the knowlege forgotten.

Also when OWI gives info on the glukkons past seems to speak of a long time ago like centurys or something. So the glukkons have been "modern" for Quite a while and thus I asumed that the keeping of slaves and the keeping of a queen to make slaves is an old "custom".

I also asumed that Queens can grow older then the droness they produce like in a bee colony.

And putting these things to gether I thought that sam must have been in capture for more then a mudoken life span.

So i dont think that is right plus the modukens you encounter in ao dont seem to be verry old.

So I place my opinion here

In the distant past when sam was captured a few mudokens remaind behind evading the claws of the glukkons ( so far i agree with you )
But the mudokens that remaind behind knew they wouldent last for ever and if they didnt do anything they would die out in the wild and that would be the end of that. So they began rading parties stealing eggs and resquing a mudoken here and there to keep their numbers stable. A prosess wich today is still going on.

So the mudokens we see today arn't the original escaped mudokens but their followers stolen from the glukkons and raised as their own.

But thats just my opinion

Interesting points and ideas Kleeng. My personal theory of the matter is that there is more than one Mudokon queen and some live in the wild with other tribes currently unknown to Abe or his tribe. Also, I didn't mean canned gabair was rong. I actually meant it to Alf (no offence meant, especially if Alfs reading this, oh please please please dont hurt me! ...)

I like your theory Kleeng. I do think that when the glukkons captured sam and a whole lot of mudokons, a bunch of mudokons escaped(or evaded or whatever) the glukkons and went off and started their own tribes and that they knew that their numbers wouldn't last. Guess that's why Big Face had to choose someone to close down rupturefarms... to increase their numbers. And guess they chose Abe because he's the only one that escaped from rupturefarms and that he knows his way around. But splat's theory is also reasonable. There could be more queens around.

Maybe(now this is a little silly) when Sam was captured, she laid emergency eggs or something that were queens. Like perhaps when they are threatened or something, they automatically respond with something to preserve their race. Kind of like our immune system. Just a hunch.

I wish Alf would answer this question.

I like your Bee-Meerkat theory Canned Gabbiar, it makes alot of sense. But I always thought the reason worker class mudokens have no sexual organs because they were neutered to prevent anything occuring on the work floor. (I know I wouldn't like to see that in the workplace)

Well i'll just say before the last four and a half pages repeat themselves, that i like Gabbiars theory about emergency queens. Its similar to one i said earlier.
well if were gonna start again, i better get lost or i could edit time, on the other hand, if we dont edit time we could just keep ging round and round in circles, so i'll say, if yuo've only just joined this conversation, read the last few pages.
On the other hand, if we are gonna start again, someone wake me when it gets to my part. zzz...

I agree, it was canned gabbier, but you have to admit it, you are pretty similar, you both have long names that are both related to gabbits.
I think this post is now, after five pages, grinding to a halt. Well, weve leart a lot about the natural world and each other, but the original question, Do mudokons have any sexual organs? Well, i guess we'll never know...

Lots and lots of very interesting theories, but lets just stick to the facts that we know are solid.
  • Sam (as far as we know) produces all Mudokon young.
  • Queens, in most colonies, are able to produce young Queens if they are about to die. I think the same may apply to Sam in this respect.
  • Mudokon worker class DO NOT have reproductive organs.
Very few solid facts, but we havent been told alot. Why dont we actually wait till someone comes along that actually knows whats what?
