Mark my words. "Medal of Honor: Airborne" will kick your ass. I've never been a fan of the Medal of Honor series (I'm personally a Call of Duty man), but "Airborne" is going to rock seven ways 'till Sunday. Premise: you jump out of a plane to start the frickin' level. You can land
anywhere in the level, meaning that the
entire mission is nonlinear. Enemy and friendly AI reacts accordingly and is supposedly completely unscripted. It. Will. Rock.
(As long as it includes all the things I just said.)
Besides, Call of Duty 4 is moving on to modern combat, so there will at least be less WWII games on the market.
...
Now, I'm a little biased because I'm a WWII nut, but I really don't understand why people get all bent out of shape over WWII games. Really now, there's still plenty of room for exploration. Nothing notable and extensive has been done with the North African campaign. Nothing good (outside of CoD2) has dealt with the Russian front. Nothing good (at all) has been done with assault on Fascist Italy.
What I
do understand, however, is the frustration with the sheer amount of
SHITTY WWII games on the market. I can agree with that, but I definitely don't think that developers should give up on WWII all together.
And honestly, nazis aren't anymore cliché than terrorists, zombies, aliens, or post-apocalyptic militants. And really, I can relate to killing fascists that actually existed and posed a threat to the free world far more than I can relate to killing Muslims that
I'm told are bad... or, you know,
things that don't and probably will never exist.
