Hey guys, i modelled all the MOHD characters so i thought I'd pop my head in here and say hi.
As far as character proportions go, all the new models are exactly the same as their old counterparts. The new models have to align exactly with the old model to fit the animation rig. Extra anatomical details and muscle definition has been worked in as extra polygonal detail and normalmap detail, however as rightly mentioned there's
loads of these guys on screen at once and lots of extra polygons = lower performance. As a result these guys have an appropriately lower polycount than say, Abe, or the Bigbro. At the distance you see these guys you'd never notice the difference anyway.
Based on your guys opinions what i have done though is go back and ramp up the intensity of the normals on both the scrab and the paramite to make em look more super-ripped like in the concepts. I also did a quick pass over their textures as well to give em a bit of a spit polish and get rid of the 'shiny and smooth' look of their textures, as that seemed to be the general consensus.
As far as colour goes, i use the original 256x256 textures as my colour palette base, so i can assure you they are the same colour as the old models
