Bada-bing. Lookin' good! :)

Jordan 08-03-2011 07:23 AM

Just saw that! Fucking beautiful!

Sekto Springs 08-03-2011 07:34 AM

Definitely an improvement...

Also, I just noticed they included the pinkie fingers. I wonder what Japan will have to say about that.

Wil 08-03-2011 07:44 AM

Sweeeet. :D

Sekto Springs 08-03-2011 07:46 AM

They even worked his palm prints onto the model. Well done. He's a bit glossy though. I noticed that pretty much everything in "HD" has that gloss to it. I'm not a fan. But I'll let it slide on the pretense that Abe was nervously sweating for his big photo shoot.

Dynamithix 08-03-2011 07:48 AM

Looks really good. Props, JAW!

DarkHoodness 08-03-2011 07:52 AM

Wait - They've brought back his original 4-fingered hand design? So it's not an issue in Japan anymore?

Looking good BTW, even if he does look a little odd, like all the Munch HD models. But there's only so much you can do with an old engine.

Sekto Springs 08-03-2011 07:54 AM

I will, regrettably, probably be unable to play either MO HD or SW HD as I terminated my PSN account not too long ago to save money. I know for a fact that my computer does not have the graphics capacity to run the games via Steam.

Alf 08-03-2011 08:00 AM

Hey, there's my buddy Abe! Doesn't he look handsome? A very good photo.

Sekto Springs 08-03-2011 08:06 AM

I think Alf's jealous.

Michael 08-03-2011 08:08 AM

Wow, that's a great improvement! Is it safe to assume that this model will be the one seen is Abe HD eventually, or will JAW build another similar model?

DarkHoodness 08-03-2011 08:14 AM

If Abe HD is using a different engine from Munch HD, I'd hope they'll do a better-looking model for it - Fantastic as the Munch HD models look, they still seem a bit odd somehow. I think I read somewhere that they're using an improved version of MO's existing game engine, and can't have models that aren't symmetrical.

Abe's never looked better.

JennyGenesis 08-03-2011 08:51 AM

Abe could have at least been smiling.

Jordan 08-03-2011 09:02 AM

Moody git. I like his hands. :D

JennyGenesis 08-03-2011 09:07 AM

4 FINGERS FTW!!

And I'm not moody :p but surely you can agree that it would be nicer if he had a happy expression on his face.

Jordan 08-03-2011 09:08 AM

I wasn't calling you a moody git, I was talking to Abe, silly.

Crashpunk 08-03-2011 09:18 AM

I am loving that, A really well done to J.A.W. *claps* Abe has never looked awesome.

Oh Snap! He's got Abe's Oddysee hands! did the fingures grow back or something?

OKAY!

STM 08-03-2011 09:44 AM

That is just sexy! Abe has never looked more appealing to me, yes you heard right!

4srs though, amazing work JAW you're really bringing back the games we want how we want, my one and only problem is the Abe sprite still has those eyes that look all zoned out...but it doesn't bother me so much so meh.

elums mum 08-03-2011 10:32 AM

Thats actually pretty amazing for an in-game model. Look at the face theres so much detail. And omfg return of the pinky finger!!!!!

Havoc 08-03-2011 10:37 AM

Damn that's looking good. Pretty much same quality as Abe in the old FMV's, that's just amazing. Imagine what would happen if they were to recreate the cutscenes... at this rate you won't even be able to see the difference anymore.

Sekto Springs 08-03-2011 10:59 AM

I don't think the cutscenes need to be recreated. They were pretty revolutionary for their time. To make them any better than they already are would be pretty expensive.

Havoc 08-03-2011 11:01 AM

True. Would look a bit backwards if the ingame graphics beat the FMV's graphics though :p

STM 08-03-2011 11:02 AM

in game cut scenes could be tweaked though.

DarkHoodness 08-03-2011 11:06 AM

In this day and age, if you have the existing models already it should be a lot easier now than it was to create cut scenes back in the day. The old cut scenes, if used, may look out of place unless they keep the art style of the old games EXACTLY the same. You'd have gameplay graphics being better quality than the FMV graphics. :P

EDIT: Augh people posted before me. See, this is why I normally don't say much.

SW was the only game with in-game cutscenes though.

Crashpunk 08-03-2011 12:43 PM

I'm guessing this is going to be the in-game model for Abe? I can't wait to see some poses for gameplay.

Oh and this is random but.

Something about him looks a tiny bit... flat. Not quite alive. But, apart from that, he's absolutely fantastic.

Abe has slipped into the uncanny valley? Say it ain't so!
