It is in my believe that a girl is way more serious in a relationship then a guy. I think most of the guys on this forum will not find it wrong to think or look at other women with the thought of 'what if', where most girls will probably find it stunning and unloyal.
It's an instinct thing, I think. And yes, a guy thing.

Most girls I know do look at other guys but they won't admit it to anyone other than their female (or gay male) friends.

Yes, it is something most girls do too, but certainly not to the extent most guys do. But a great handful of either sex has trouble finding successful relationships. So there.

I don't check out other guys. Why would I when the only person I'm attracted to is Luke? Masturbation can be about romantic/loving feelings... It's certainly more fulfilling when it is. Of course, it's mostly sexual feelings. But those are deeply connected with love, and parallels it. If it's wrong to love someone else, shouldn't it also be wrong to lust after someone else? I believe the whole "what if" thing is a sign of incomplete satisfaction in the relationship. I'm too happy with "what is" to ever wonder "what if" about anyone else.

Like it or not but we are still animals, complete with instincts. We've managed to surpress a lot of it during evolution, but with any animal the biggest instinct is the instinct to reproduce. And because it's the male who has to do most of the work, the instinct to reproduce is most strong with the males, thus explaining a slight diffrence concerning that between males and females.
Eating, sleeping and mating are the three main instincts of any animal, including us.

Ah, you're right about the term usage. I lost my point in my poor wording. While they mean the same thing, "instinct" is just a nicer word for what it really is--It's all about the connotations. But whatever you choose to call them, you don't always have to listen to your id, guys.

In any case, I can't find anything to disagree with in your response to me from a moral/ideal standpoint - it would be nice if, when you were in a relationship, you never noticed anyone else but (most) people aren't wired like that. And trying to repress that kind of thing is only going to make it worse and put tension on the relationship.

like Nate said, people aren't wired not to reproduce. Once you hit puberty, the reproducing urge kicks in, and since you're below the legal age for 'reproducing', you've usually got to work off the tension once in awhile. At least thats how I see it.

Oh come on, as if anyone gives a crap about legal limits concerning sex. If you want to have sex with your girlfriend or boyfriend when your 14 or 15 or whatever, go for it, have a blast. Not like you'll be arrested for doing so <.<.

Anyway, it's not about masturbation itself. It's about the fantasy you have about someone ELSE then your partner thats to point of discussion here. IMO it's perfectly fine to do so, if you want to. Some see it as unloyal, or strange or whatever.
I personaly don't call fantasizing the same as cheating. Cheating IMO is abusing the trust your lover has in you, but that doesn't include what you fantasize about. Besides, fantasies are things you make up and which don't realy happen and never will happen (most the time). I'm sure there a lot of guys and espcialy young kids who spank the night away with a huge poster of Shakira.

So generaly I don't mind it, but ofcourse there is a big diffrence between fantasizing about a popular hot pop idol, and your nextdoor neighboor. As a partner I would only start worrying and call it unloyal when my parter would fantasize about the neighboor or someone else in his school class.

You confuse me, Havoc. The first half of your post says it's perfectly fine to think of someone else if you're in a relationship, but the latter half begins setting rules in a sense, saying who it's okay to wank to and who it's not. Surely if something is so harmless, it wouldn't matter who it is? Hmm?

Also, wanking is in no way a means of reproduction. Sure the urge to release the sexual energy is derived from that instinct, but you can control what you think of when releasing it. You don't have to think of some slutty celebrity when you have someone you love and find his/her body to be everything you could ever desire. When love and sexual feelings meet, it's much better.

I still see it as mental cheating. Just like I wouldn't want Luke to love someone else, I certainly wouldn't want him to lust after someone else, which goes both ways in our relationship.

Thats how I see it. And Havoc even though you wouldnt get arrested I doubt you would want to have sex at 14-15. Unless you use a condom or you want a baby at that age.

Hah, your post makes me giggle, Nate. Going by the way my friends are, I'd say most girls look at guys even when in a relationship. But most of them have never been in love, and the one who believe she was in love had a relationship that ended with the guy cheating on her. I honestly expected it as they would point out attractive members of the opposite sex to each other... Kinda weird.

And I think most girls look at porn too... Just not to the same degree as guys. Hah, the only other naked men I look at these days are in my anatomy book.

If you've got something to say Facsimile I'm all ears. I would love to know how the mistake that I made when I was young makes me a "loser". Especially since I stepped up and did the right thing.
