This topic is great. Being a comic-nerd/fanatic, I have lots of rambling to do.
Dipstikk, I'm sorry you can't appreciate my green pubic hair. If it helps, it's well trimmed and a very vibrant shade of green. So far all of my friends [as well as my girlfriend] loved it. Them. Whatever.
I thought spiderman sucked. The green goblin story was so horribly twisted and inaccurate that I hated the character [in the movie, atleast.] Toby Mcguire[sp] did a miserable job of playing the part of playing ole' spidey, too.
Sure, peter was a bit of a geek in the comics, but he had depth, too, god damnit! Which is something he totally lacked in the movie. I like the sequence of him using his new found web slinging ability. But that's it. The rest of the movie progressed entirely too fast for my liking.
X-Men, on the other hand, was very well done. Some of the characters were a bit inaccurate, but it was still an enjoyable [and buyable, hee] movie. The only thing I disliked was the fact that the story revolved around wolvereine. I liked the brief back story on magneto, and the actor who played him was outstanding.
I have yet to see X-2, which is surprising on all accounts because I bought tickets for the sneak preview, and I think Nightcrawler is one of the coolest, and has one of the most interesting backstories of all the mutants. Unfortunately, I was..erm..busy.
Ah, the joys of premarital relations.
I'd gladly see movies based on super heroes if the first, or atleast half of the movie was devoted to the backstory, trials, and personal problems relating the the character. I'm sick of the "oh no, the girl I love is being held hostage/menaced by a stereotypical villain' plot.
