Hulk!

I am surprise nobody did a thread on the movie Halk.

So did anybody go see the Hulk yet? I thought it was a sweet movie and different. I never been to a movie that was viewed like an actual comic book. I thought the Hulk was sweet. Out of all the Marvel Comic films that have been released so far this one is a first. It really touched basis with the Hulk. I thought it was well done. If your not into serious action this movie isn't for you. I love it when Bruce Banner says "You wouldn't like me when I am angry!" That line is sweet. Plus his facial expression were so evident of the green Giant in him The Incredible Hulk! I thought they did really good acting in this film plus the Hulk was amazeing!

What did you think of it?

Facsimile 06-27-2003 03:39 AM

Get this: The Hulk arrived in our town yesterday, but we STILL DON'T HAVE THE MATRIX RELOADED!

Disgruntled Intern 06-27-2003 03:47 AM

Okay...I'm just going to ignore the fact that you can spell 'incredible' yet you can't spell 'hulk' correctly.

The comic has always sucked, the story is weak, and the movie is pathetic. Making movies based on comics is as lame as making games based on movie.

That is so true, i hate the movie industry now. They on the trend to make movies about superheroes, i hate the movie Hulk. I heard they are gonna make a new superhero called the Punisher....."i do not kill, i punish" i think thats his model... Anyways i just hate superheroes movie.... like daredevil is not bad enough *shudders*

Xavier 06-27-2003 07:56 AM

uh... isn't it supposed to be hUlk? with a U?
anyway I don't think I'm gonna see that movie, I'm not a movie freak, and It doesn't realy interest me

He is already a Marvel character. He was in the Spiderman game.

paramiteabe 06-27-2003 11:53 AM

Oops my bad Hulk not Halk. I did this late at night when I came home from work, I was half awake. Yikes I guess I screwed up!:D The Punisher is nothing new. There is already movies out that were made in the 80's or early 90's.

He is just as old as the other Marvel Comics.

Disgruntled Intern 06-27-2003 01:31 PM

The punisher isn't a super hero, which is cool. He's nothing more than a jaded vigilante seeking revenge on those who killed his family.

I'll probably see it just because I was a fan of the early movies.

ratman 06-27-2003 02:44 PM

WHAT? hulk looks like the stupidest movie ever!!!!!!(hulking hulk, heh heh heh)

Nath 06-27-2003 03:50 PM

I've heard really bad reviews of the movie "HULK" but i still want to go and see it.
Some of you have said that it is a stupid idea to make comic books into films. In my mind I think that's a good idea. I've never read a comic book in my life, just watched the cartoons of them, so i think that the films would be able explain more in one go, than the cartoons can. And also, before the film DareDevil came out i had never heard of it.

Mac the Janitor 06-27-2003 04:35 PM

The Hulk. Pfft.

It's worse than all the other bad movies lately. The only fairly decent one to come out within the last couple months is Matrix Reloaded, but that was still fairly dissapointing.

And since when can the Hulk fly? In the previews they show him flying over the Grand Canyon or some place.

And to top it all off, he's not incredible.

Nath 06-27-2003 04:45 PM

I don't think he's flying, i think he's jumping. But it still looks stupid

Mac the Janitor 06-27-2003 04:59 PM

Oh, ok. That's not as bad, but it's still stupid.

And why do his clothes rip off of his body everywhere except his crotch and his ass? I mean, It's not like i want to see big green hulk penis or anything, but why would his whole body grow to a gargantuan size except his waist and pelvis?

Which one? And where?

paramiteabe 06-27-2003 05:40 PM

It wasn't that bad it was like watching a comic book. I am not saying it was great but it was cool special effects wise.

And he can jump real far because he is the Hulk its one of his powers. He was never flying in the movie he was jumping and when he was on that jet he jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge onto the jet. The movie is just like the comics.

Statikk HDM 06-27-2003 08:17 PM

I will not read any comic book based on radiation giving superpowers. It's just really freakin stupid, gamma rays will not do that kid of stuff! Also, if a movie produceer can't get a good script they always head for comics. It pisses me off but what can you do? People eat this comic book crap up and they have a built in comic nerd fan base. It's win win for the moviemakers. It saddens me to see El Chop Chop(Eric Bana for those of you you who haven't seen Chopper rent the movie!) in a movie that looks like it will suck so hardcore.

Yeah, I saw that part. I kept replaying the scene in my head, with the hulk going "Wheeee!" as he leapt. But the movie was bad. I actually fell asleep.

paramiteabe 06-28-2003 12:42 AM

I hate to tell you but the same producer who created Spidar Man and X-Men and Dare Devel created Hulk. And there is a Fantastic Four in the works aswell as IronMan which is one of my favorites and Silver Surfer. All these Marvel Comic Movies got their start from the movie Blade. Blade is part of Marvel Comics and since it made a lot of success we are seeing the other Marvel stories become movies.

Obvieously your not into Marvel Comics so you just don't like it. Thats cool nothing wrong there. I am just saying for people who do like comics will like this movie. People who don't then would hate it.

Disgruntled Intern 06-28-2003 12:56 AM

The only reason I like iron man is because he's paralyzed. Well, until he puts on his suit, atleast.

Fantastic four was the shit.

Whoever is was that said they never read comics, but watched the cartoons is sadly missing out. Comics are rarely censored, whereas cartoons are heavily so. Movies do NOT provide a more in depth look into the character because they only have two hours to tell a story. And that story always focuses on the love interest.

Weak.

I've always been a fan of comics that were about ordinary people. Maybe it's because I can related to them.

I mean sure, I have purple cut off jeans, and at the moment, green hair, but that's just to spite the hulk. I've been calling myself the 'mediocre bulk'.

Though I did dye my pubes as well. That's kind of incredible. Maybe I just need to spray paint my penis in the matching shade.

Dipstikk 06-28-2003 01:41 AM

...Isn't he great, folks? Let's give him a round of applouse!

but seriously, that just scared me.

thanks, DI, I'll be in rehab for weeks, all because of the man who dyes his pubes green.

...eew.

Majic 06-28-2003 01:53 AM

My friend says that the dude only actually turns into Hulk 3 times... that sounds retarded. Don't advertise a comic-based movie as being action filled if its filled with nothing but no huge grean people.

Anyways, Spiderman and X-2 were both pretty good, IMO. The first X-Men just didn't have enough real action, and Daredevil was flat out poorly made.

Disgruntled Intern 06-28-2003 02:45 AM

This topic is great. Being a comic-nerd/fanatic, I have lots of rambling to do.

Dipstikk, I'm sorry you can't appreciate my green pubic hair. If it helps, it's well trimmed and a very vibrant shade of green. So far all of my friends [as well as my girlfriend] loved it. Them. Whatever.

I thought spiderman sucked. The green goblin story was so horribly twisted and inaccurate that I hated the character [in the movie, atleast.] Toby Mcguire[sp] did a miserable job of playing the part of playing ole' spidey, too.

Sure, peter was a bit of a geek in the comics, but he had depth, too, god damnit! Which is something he totally lacked in the movie. I like the sequence of him using his new found web slinging ability. But that's it. The rest of the movie progressed entirely too fast for my liking.

X-Men, on the other hand, was very well done. Some of the characters were a bit inaccurate, but it was still an enjoyable [and buyable, hee] movie. The only thing I disliked was the fact that the story revolved around wolvereine. I liked the brief back story on magneto, and the actor who played him was outstanding.

I have yet to see X-2, which is surprising on all accounts because I bought tickets for the sneak preview, and I think Nightcrawler is one of the coolest, and has one of the most interesting backstories of all the mutants. Unfortunately, I was..erm..busy.

Ah, the joys of premarital relations.

I'd gladly see movies based on super heroes if the first, or atleast half of the movie was devoted to the backstory, trials, and personal problems relating the the character. I'm sick of the "oh no, the girl I love is being held hostage/menaced by a stereotypical villain' plot.

paramiteabe 06-28-2003 10:33 AM

Well yea to put it mildly they were pretty crapy movies. X-Men out of all of them were the best but your absolutely right the other ones being shit movies. And I too was dissapointed in the Green Goblin. They shouldn't have put him in a Power Ranger type outfit. They could have made him more like the comic. Unfortunately they probabaly spend too much money on the films.

But X-Men thus far seems to be the good one.

Jacob 06-28-2003 03:17 PM

I thought Xmen was good, aswell as Spiderman. Xmen 2 is thooperly, but you don't get to hear much of Nightcrawlers background, i dont think anyway, since i haven't read the comics. Aren't Rogue and Nightcrawler brother and sister though? Cos Mystique is mother to both of them...

Anyway, i'm going to get Daredevil soon...yes...

It seems the non-comic readers like the marvel movies more than the comic readers, prolly due to the fact they don't have anything to compare it too...

Green Goblin was thooper by the by...

Al the Vykker 06-28-2003 03:31 PM

I dont really have a desire to see hulk, I never really read his comics, and never really liked him period. I agree both Xmen movies were great, and so was Spiderman. I would have liked to see my favorite villain the lizard in SM2 though. He was always really cool in the really old comics, and his story was really cool too.

Nath 06-28-2003 03:31 PM

The only reason that they put the love scenes in all those movies is because they want to attract alsorts of people. Some might want to go and watch them for the love scenes (or whatever), and some might want to go and watch it for the action scenes, personally i like both, but i prefer the action scenes.

A reason why they don't show much of the backstory is because, if they did, they would have to spend more money making more movies, and alot of people might end up getting bored of it after a few years.

And i have also heard that the producers or whoever, create a survey on what people want to see in the films.

I would also love to hear who you would cast for the main parts, instead of the people who originally played them. I thought Toby Mcguire played spiderman really well,

Disgruntled Intern 06-28-2003 05:08 PM

Toby looked like peter parker, but he was just too soft spoken, monotone, and he seemed like he was trying way too hard to come across as dark, brooding, and mysterious.

Because I never read the later issues of the x-men comic, I can't remember if mystique is actually the mother of rogue as well, or if they just added it to the movie, as well as the cartoon [x-men:evolution] for a sadistic twist.

Nightcrawler's backround was deeply religious, and he loved his mother despite the fact that she made quite a few attempts to end his life.

Mystique supposedly has thousands of children all over the world.

Jacob 06-29-2003 04:44 PM

:

or if they just added it to the movie
It wasn't in the movie, it was on the fighting game of Xmen, which is linked with the comics more than the films/cartoons...

Whats the difference between presuming and assuming...?
