Let's also not forget those lost when Hurricane Carla hit Texas is 1961, or in 1709 at the Battle of Malplaquet, the 1683 Battle of Vienna, the 1992 Hurricane Iniki over Hawaii, the Aegean Sea helicopter crash of 2004, the Battle of Plattsburgh in 1814, shoot-out at that Haitian church in 1987, the Battle of Brandywine in 1777, and of course, the terrorist attacks upon the WTC, the Pentagon and that field in Shanksville. 2001 wasn't the only year in which a tragedy occurred this day.

Ah...good ol' 9/11. No wait, bad ol' 9/11.

Hmm. Today was tragic, freaked me out. I was right across the river, students, teachers, parents, anyone in the town I live saw smoke rising from one of the towers. I was only 6, and I was picked up from school and brought home.

And which makes me mad is that Bush was threatened beforehand, was he not?

Oh, I remember the attacks, I didn't realize the full severity of what I was watching at first, but I remember.

I was discussing what I was seeing with someone from the lego company, asking for parts for something.
(I was at home for lunch.)

I am sorry to families that lost loved ones in the attacks, and also to people who were traumatized or at the very least shocked by them.

No one ever told me about it until last year. I always wondered why we needed silence every year.

There's been a lot of chat about 9/11 of late, well obviously, as today is of course the sad anniversary of it. I declare 1 minutes lack of posting. No joke.

actually i do belive it could have been what Loose change is on about but i'm open to more logical explanations apart from the obvious "al quaeda did it" one

sadly we didn't have a 1 min silence at our school. Although it would have killed 1 minute of time

I remember in seventh grade when I first heard of 9/11. It didn't effect me at all. Neither did Virginia Tech and I live in Virginia. I might start worrying about these things when people stop killing each other every day.
Currently the only thing that make me worry is the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings.

Havoc clearly stated at the very start of this thread that this was a memorial topic, and not to disrespect it with posting conpiracy theories or spam. I'd have thought that in a thread that deals with such a somber moment in history that there'd have been a little more respect.

I've deleted or edited certain posts to comply with the thread's original intentions. If you want to go off on different tangents, start a new thread in Off-Topic Discussion.

I have mixed thoughts on the 9/11 attacks, but regardless my heart goes out to all those affected by the death and destruction it caused. I honestly hope when Freedom Tower is completed that it properly pays respect to its previous occupier and those that lost their lives.

Alcar...

We watched a short rememberance video of it in my world cultures class. I forgot about how bad it was. I had seen the impact dozens of times, but the sounds of the impacts and the screams were much more terrifying to me.
