September 11th

The official September 11th memorial topic. In memory of all those that lost their lives in the 9/11 attacks. You will not be forgotten.

Keep spam and conspiracy theories out of here. Memorial topic, not debate topic.

Marvak 09-10-2007 11:05 PM

Amen, brudda. Odd, I can hardly belive it's already been 6 years since. I was only 9 when they happened. What a way to lose your innocence, eh?...

Bullet Magnet 09-11-2007 02:25 AM

Let's also not forget those lost when Hurricane Carla hit Texas is 1961, or in 1709 at the Battle of Malplaquet, the 1683 Battle of Vienna, the 1992 Hurricane Iniki over Hawaii, the Aegean Sea helicopter crash of 2004, the Battle of Plattsburgh in 1814, shoot-out at that Haitian church in 1987, the Battle of Brandywine in 1777, and of course, the terrorist attacks upon the WTC, the Pentagon and that field in Shanksville. 2001 wasn't the only year in which a tragedy occurred this day.

Mojo 09-11-2007 02:35 AM

You forgot Columbine.

Alf Shall Rise 09-11-2007 02:58 AM

Ah...good ol' 9/11. No wait, bad ol' 9/11.

Hmm. Today was tragic, freaked me out. I was right across the river, students, teachers, parents, anyone in the town I live saw smoke rising from one of the towers. I was only 6, and I was picked up from school and brought home.

And which makes me mad is that Bush was threatened beforehand, was he not?

Mac Sirloin 09-11-2007 03:07 AM

Oh, I remember the attacks, I didn't realize the full severity of what I was watching at first, but I remember.

I was discussing what I was seeing with someone from the lego company, asking for parts for something.
(I was at home for lunch.)

I am sorry to families that lost loved ones in the attacks, and also to people who were traumatized or at the very least shocked by them.

Jordan 09-11-2007 06:39 AM

No one ever told me about it until last year. I always wondered why we needed silence every year.

Laser 09-11-2007 09:10 AM

really Jordan?

wow that is rather amazing

and as much as i would love to start a conspiracy theory thread i will respect 9/11 by not doing as such

alf's brother's mate 09-11-2007 09:24 AM

hmmmmmmmmmmm.
There's been a lot of chat about 9/11 of late, well obviously, as today is of course the sad anniversary of it. I declare 1 minutes lack of posting. No joke.

Mutual Friend 09-11-2007 10:04 AM

Damn. I forgot to make a thread yesterday that nobody should do a 11/9 thread today. Oh well.

Don't say you believe that loose change crap...

Laser 09-11-2007 11:46 AM

actually i do belive it could have been what Loose change is on about but i'm open to more logical explanations apart from the obvious "al quaeda did it" one

sadly we didn't have a 1 min silence at our school. Although it would have killed 1 minute of time

Mac Sirloin 09-11-2007 12:05 PM

Nor did my school, not that It would've mattered, half the kids would've been yapping about something or other.

Venks 09-11-2007 12:15 PM

I remember in seventh grade when I first heard of 9/11. It didn't effect me at all. Neither did Virginia Tech and I live in Virginia. I might start worrying about these things when people stop killing each other every day.
Currently the only thing that make me worry is the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings.

Manco 09-11-2007 12:46 PM

In memory of all those who died, and all those who lost a loved one.
*bows head*

Gabiar 09-11-2007 01:12 PM

In loving memory for those who died.....

(Fucking Bin laden, go to hell, asshole!)

Mutual Friend 09-11-2007 01:15 PM

You can't have a nice, heartfelt message followed by such vitriol! Heh!

Havoc clearly stated at the very start of this thread that this was a memorial topic, and not to disrespect it with posting conpiracy theories or spam. I'd have thought that in a thread that deals with such a somber moment in history that there'd have been a little more respect.

I've deleted or edited certain posts to comply with the thread's original intentions. If you want to go off on different tangents, start a new thread in Off-Topic Discussion.

I have mixed thoughts on the 9/11 attacks, but regardless my heart goes out to all those affected by the death and destruction it caused. I honestly hope when Freedom Tower is completed that it properly pays respect to its previous occupier and those that lost their lives.

Alcar...

Hobo 09-11-2007 03:22 PM

Thank you Peter.

Would be interested to see if anyone outside the US held a moment's silence, as far as I am aware no one I know here did.

Salamander 09-11-2007 09:09 PM

*Has moment of silence.*

You forgot Columbine.

I'll remember it come April.

Nemo 09-12-2007 03:03 AM

How I feel on the matter may offend some readers:

It's been six years. Get over it.

Mac Sirloin 09-12-2007 03:11 AM

Yeah, but the war in Iraq thing keeps my mind fresh and bitter.

70 Canadian soldiers, 70.

Paul 09-12-2007 09:46 AM

The war in Iraq has is prolly going to cost the lives of more people than sept 11th has

alf's brother's mate 09-12-2007 09:51 AM

yeah.
sorry for the spammy post Pete.
Who here had a minutes silence for the dead of Afganistan of Iraq?

Wrong country, mate. The Taliban of Afganistan did 9/11.

Weapons of mass destruction. Apparently.

used:) 09-12-2007 11:57 AM

Weapons of mass distraction.

We watched a short rememberance video of it in my world cultures class. I forgot about how bad it was. I had seen the impact dozens of times, but the sounds of the impacts and the screams were much more terrifying to me.

Hobo 09-12-2007 12:20 PM

It's absolutely horrible to watch. Still makes my stomach turn.
