In C. Stranger looks really stupid and out of place, and white border makes it look really quite bad and I really dislike the font... The steef really does look... wrong.

A. But I'd advise an entire skin change to match it. I don't like these dull greys with brick brown. It makes the forum look like it's posted on a house.

C. I actually like C! I just look past the white outlines and I really like the way it looks... A is really cool too! I don't like B at all, I just don't like the font...

The artist who did C wants me to defend his honor, so here I go. As I understand it, SS is cleaning up the white pixels on C for the artist. To know what it looks like without a disgusting outline of death, view it against a white background. If you like it, vote away! :fuzgrin:

Stranger still looks pretty out of place on C... his colouring is messed up and he's in a dodgy pose... :(

Overall none of the productions are very talented and original concepts. They are all just a collection of cut out OWI preview images stuck behind some photoshopped lettering. I think if we all sat down together and bounced ideas off each other, that we could come up with something really original. Something worth changing the current graphics for. Lets face it, the forums need an overhaul. Well, not an overhall, a facelift. And I don't think it would be fair to just have one person design it. I for one vote in favour of all of us coming together and designing a logo AND skin... |
Quite agreed.
There's something about A I don't like too much, but I can't quite put my finger on it. B is nice because of simplicity, yet feels a tad too blockish. Stranger is entirely strange-looking in C, probably because we don't have many good full-pose pictures of him. |

All the images are way too haphazard. They aren't the sort of image saturated logos you would expect to see on a website. More like a packaging logo or something. It is trying to be minimal when it wants to be maximal. It lacks vision and inspiration, it's been dressed up to look like a logo, as though acheiving the title of "logo" is something that needs to be worked at. |

Hmmmm, my thread...ruined. Darn you guys! :flames: Why didn't you guys bring this up before I started the voting. The only person who somewhat hinted the idea to me was Majic, but still...nothing solid was proposed.
Well, it would be a good idea for all of us forumers to design the ultimate skin/logo. I like that idea a lot, but you don't just come here in the middle of voting and kill my contest that I've set up and been running for over a month. That's just rude you guys, and it pisses me off. Well I like A it has a lot of potential for a logo design maybe add a boarder. B definetly needs something else to go in the back ground theres just not enough graghical elements in there to make a good and intresting to look at. And C just needs to be completely refined. Definetly not a good portfolio piece. Take it from me who knows professional designing concepts. C sucks it needs to be refined. The idea is great but the elements within the design are too jagged and messy. You want your viewers to see a nice clean, crisp image. You don't want your viewers to guess at what they are looking at. The white boarders around the characters is too distracting to the eye plus the lettering needs have a little bit of kerning to it. Kerning in an illustrator's vocabulary means the space between letters but thats not truely appropiate seamingly thats the styal of words that describe Oddworld. Um what else compositionally it works if you add maybe a black frame around the whole image. But the elements is what needs to be refined and cleaned up. And perhaps maybe add sort of a subtle transparent gradient in the background to tie the piece as one thing. But you test it out to see if that works if not don't go with it. If anything all these designs needs is some sort of bar or frame to tie the pieces together to make it as one piece. Something simple like a bar or a frame would work. You want to make it subtle and simple but conveys to people that what it represents is something far more complex which is Oddworld. Remember balance of graghical elements and text is whats important. B the text is too heavy and C well I told what it needs and A is just right. The title is a perfect size and the graphical elements fuse that togetherand its pleaseing to the eye. Thats my cryteque on this work. Paramiteabe... :fuzblink: |
