An argument about music and Art and Justin Bieber's body double

MOD EDIT: This thread up until this post was split off from Bits & Pieces after this post.

I changed my mind.

Varrok 01-24-2016 12:00 PM

Dammit, I missed it.

It was probably something very shameful. Did anybody notice this?

Crashpunk 01-25-2016 06:32 AM

I bet it was a Bieber song or something.

FrustratedAssassin 01-25-2016 06:40 AM

Shut up, his latest album is good I wouldn't be ashamed by that. You know what I'm actually going to post a song off it here.

Varrok 01-25-2016 07:43 AM

Shaaame

Crashpunk 01-25-2016 08:45 AM

I actually sat down and watched that entire music video.

And you know what...

I now want to kill myself.

Alf Shall Rise 01-25-2016 11:32 AM

At 1:03 when that kid (don't think he was Bieber?) jumps off that small hill, the scene changes before he lands. I bet he fucking wipes out

Varrok 01-25-2016 11:34 AM

I hope Bieber jumps off a hill

FrustratedAssassin 01-25-2016 12:28 PM

ITT: people who are thirteen

OANST 01-25-2016 02:32 PM

*continued: listen to Justin Bieber.

Nate 01-25-2016 09:37 PM

That video was super pretty. I'd be jealous of Bieber for getting to visit those places if I actually thought it was him in any of those shots.

Dynamithix 01-25-2016 11:15 PM

Justin Bieber has definitely found a new sound with his latest music, quite similar to the likes of Travi$ Scott. Still not too into his music, but I don't mind his newer tracks like Where Are You Now or Sorry.

FrustratedAssassin 01-25-2016 11:32 PM

Where Are You Now is a great song and I actually have it in my playlist. Hating Justin Bieber was popular like five years ago and you should just grow up.

OANST 01-26-2016 06:30 AM

It's soulless music by committee. I don't hate Justin Bieber. I just don't listen to soulless music made by committees.

Varrok 01-26-2016 06:35 AM

What about Soul music made by committee?

OANST 01-26-2016 06:41 AM

Well, that's different.

So edgy

That's.....not edgy. Like, at all. That's just not having bad taste in music....

Job McYossie 01-26-2016 08:25 AM

Nah brah it's pretty edgy to say

Like dang who made you the authority, chill out with other's music.

Varrok 01-26-2016 08:25 AM

She's still young. I listened to shitty music when I was 12-14 too.

I can't tell if you're being serious or not. If you are, let me say this. It's not her music. It's not even Justin Bieber's music. It was music written by a committee for him to sing over.

STM 01-26-2016 08:31 AM

Haha the sounds I like are different and thus better than the sounds you like.

You should all shut up and listen to avant gardë industrial military pop rock

OANST 01-26-2016 08:44 AM

You guys can't honestly tell me that you consider pop music (music written as a salable product being presented by a salesman (artist)) to be in the same ballpark as music written by musicians who write music because they love sound, can you? I'm not trying to come off really strong on this because honestly, to me, it isn't art, and therefor doesn't even enter the conversation in a meaningful enough way to either hate or love it. I hate Disturbed. I don't care at all about Justin Bieber.

FrustratedAssassin 01-26-2016 08:49 AM

Actually, indie pop and synthpop are some of my favourite genres. So yes, I do consider pop music to be in the same ballpark as music written by musicians who love music because it's the sound that matters, not the intent.

Varrok 01-26-2016 08:53 AM

Modern pop and good music are like fast food and food in a fine restaurant. You can like fast food, but that doesn't make fast food a good food, made with care by the talented people who love making food.

FrustratedAssassin 01-26-2016 08:57 AM

Oh, so old pop is somehow magically better? Also are you saying Skrillex, who produced most of the songs on Bieber's album, is not talented and doesn't like making music?

What is good music to you? Dadrock and death metal?

Oh and Varrok, I doubt you're that much older than me. In fact, looking at your profile, I can see you're 22. That's three years.

Varrok 01-26-2016 09:01 AM

Most of death metal suck, though for different reasons.

Some "dadrock" bands are amazing. Like Electric Light Orchestra, Beatles and many others. Queen were especially awesome, with complex songwriting, great use of music theory, incredible vocal, guitar, drum and bass perfomances, catchiness and the passion. Oh the passion.

OANST 01-26-2016 09:02 AM

I couldn't disagree more. Intent is so much more important than the sound to me.

Varrok 01-26-2016 09:04 AM

But I didn't *mean* to make you dissagree with me.

How's about that!

That's called being a pretentious hipster.
