Just bought it (even though its really early for me and I should start working) The download is going extremely slow for some reason (in fact it stays on 0 percent and the estimated time keeps growing...).
I'll just leave for work and hope it get downloaded while I'm away... Cheers, Brun |

I've just purchased it :). The timer on mine is going down so I guess it's definately downloading. An hour and a half to go.. ooh! it's at 1% now!..

Today (technically, after midnight) is a good day indeed. Grats to OWI and JAW, here's to hoping it'll be hugely successful. :) It does look a lot more fantastic than it did, and people seem very happy with it.
Now to wait for the Steam release. |
I bought it as soon as possible yesterday and downloaded immediately, and I did feel it took quite a while to download. I think it was about 2 hours for me, but in all honesty this is probably due to my internet speed!
Playing the game, I have to say it's great! The graphics are far better in motion that in still screenshots. I didn't have the chance to play the original Stranger, so can't really comment on what the improvements over that are like, but I definitely feel JAW have done a great job! :D It's awesome to finally play it- this is my first *new* Oddworld game since '98 :p |

I'm not entirely sure. I'm in Spain at the moment and my connection here is far from great! According to Speedtest.net, download speed is 4.37 Mbps
Edit: Just been disconnected from the bloody media server. Anyone know of that will effect my download? |
hmmm, mine only took 45 mins, i d download it at middnight last night tho so that might have helped.

My download took around 30 minutes.
It's probably the only decent thing Virgin Media's done since we had it installed.. Anyway, it looks gorgeous, I'm very impressed so far even though I only have a SDTV with me at the moment... Last week I'd just finished playing Stranger's Wrath again on the Xbox, and the comparison in graphical quality is phenomenal. |
It's the first time I've played Stranger's Wrath (not counting last xmas when i bought the oddbox and gave up playing it after like an hour when the graphical glitches pissed me off). At first, it seems too easy. Then a couple hours into it it starts to seem challenging, and that's when I began to like it as a game :).
Does anyone else find that the ammo switching method is a pain? I'd prefer to use L2 to scroll through the ammo for the left barrell, and R2 to scroll through the ammo loaded on the right barrell. Or maybe it just takes some getting used to and it's not actually that bad.. thoughts? Also, I'd prefer if the pop-up messages didn't pause the game, or only paused the game when necessary. It's slightly annoying having the control of the character taken away from you when you're eager to get to grips with it at the start. Glitch: Are you welcoming bug reporting? Major or minor?.. I found that the eyes on the fuzzle turn black sometimes. I'm guessing it's something to do with shadows. Their eyes just sort of 'switch off'. Anyway, it's a very promising start to your numerous projects, I look forward to them ^^ |
Those pop-ups are telling you how the game works and only display once - Most people can't concentrate on two things at once. If the game wasn't paused, most players would probably not read the info in the pop-ups.

Download only? I though they would bring out a retail version. Oh well, no matter. I don't have a Playstation so I'll have to wait for the Steam release.
I want to say thanks to JAW for helping bringing back Oddworld into the gaming world. I've read the reviews and they are really positive, you guys should be proud. Onwards to MOHD and Abe HD! I can't wait to see more! |

It's an amazingly accurate conversion with improved graphics and faster frame rate. I find the 3rd person camera fiddly now, not sure why they changed that.
