Video uploading and file types and sizes
This is a pretty random question but I'm recently having problems with uploading videos to YouTube and sizes of files.
I was wondering if anyone knows how to make videos smaller files for YouTube but high quality and which is the best file type and movie edittor (I currently use vegas 10. I've tried mp4 which seem to be the best file type but even a 10 min video takes 120 mins to upload. My internet is Sky which isn't the best tbh. |
Just mail it to YouTube and have them upload it, if it's such a hassle.
|
Wait? you can do that?
And it is a hassle. mainly because its my internet but i'm trying to get around it. EDIT: Is a 183.14M big for a 7:30 video wmv file type? Its all footage recorded from fraps and audio sepratly all redered with Sony vegas and it takes apprently 250 mins to upload? is something wrong? |
Looked it up out of curiosity:
Don't see how that would help you much if it's your ISP being shit. 183 is quite small for a WMV video of that length, perhaps YouTube is having a slow day (happens occasionally) or your ISP sucks. It takes me about 2 hours to upload 800 MB files, and that's with my crappy TalkTalk 8MB broadband. (I can't advise you on file types in case you're wondering - All I have for editing is Windows Movie Maker that came with Windows 7 so don't have a choice but to save in WMV). |
I've been uploading avi files to Youtube with H.264 as the video codec (one pass - average bitrate 256) and MP3 as the audio codec.

You can also use http://www.speedtest.net to see what your down- and upload speeds actually are.

Are you using wireless?
I turned up a surprisingly good result. http://www.speedtest.net/result/1438375060.png |

My download speed is like three times Daxter's yet I have a slower upload speed... Also keep in mind theses are megabits - not megabytes, so divide by 8. |
This forum can turn anything in to a competition.

I usually convert video file to *.mov sometimes to make file smaller and keep good quality...
I'm not gonna tell my Internet speed anyways... :P It's enough good anyways to me... :) |

But it's better than the 1.5Mb/s our ISP advertised (and the .6MB/s we were getting until a few weeks ago when it mysteriously sped up). EDIT: and considerably better than what happened the other day when we reached our download limit and encountered some serious shaping: http://www.speedtest.net/result/1433470750.png |
All of your internets are waay faster then mine!
I'm wanting to switch to Virgin Media broadband. |
Stop using a shitty wireless connection first and foremost.

Well I got that. :)
