Welcome to vBulletin 3.6.0

It has taken more than two weeks to get the forums in proper order to upgrade to the latest stable version of vBulletin. After the last attempt at upgrading resulted in loosing half a week's worth of posts, threads, etc, I decided it would be best not to rush this time around.

Due to the nature of this latest upgrade, and in an attempt to streamline, and make things simpler to manage, I have made a few decisions which will affect the vast majority of members.

Horizontal Postbit
First off, the vertical postbit (the column that contains a member's information / avatar) has been done away with completely. It takes a lot of time to properly co-ordinate both, and the horizontal postbit fits the styles better. It may take some time to get used to, but eventually, it shouldn't be noticeable.

Multi-Quote
Secondly, I've activated Multi-Quote. Multi-Quote allows you to mark posts that you wish to respond to by clicking on the small button at the bottom of the post (http://www.oddworldforums.net/images...iquote_off.gif). In order to use this, you must only click on the http://www.oddworldforums.net/images...tive/reply.gif button. This new feature is fairly extensive, as you are able to click on posts outside the thread you are replying in, and still include them.

Signature Limitations
Thirdly, signatures have been overhauled. To properly monitor the various rules we have regarding signatures, the use of IMG tags in signatures has been disabled. To upload the one signature image you are allowed, you may now do this via the User Control Panel > Edit Signature page. You are able to include your signature image in your signature by using the newly designated tag: [SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

IMPORTANT!
You must do a Hard Refresh (Ctrl + F5) so that your browser will download all updated files. It may be necessary to do this on a few different pages. So if you are having problems, do a hard refresh and then post about your issue.

Those are the more important things to note in this new update, but for a full list of the new features and improvements from vB3.5, you can visit: http://www.vbulletin.com/go/36features

Happy Foruming :)

There's your answer Charlie. :p

Hobo 09-16-2006 03:45 AM

Well i fucking suck don't i.

I don't like this look. Make the other one come back!

Havoc 09-16-2006 03:49 AM

The skins need some tweaking. My username is bloated... O.o...

I know there are a few design issues, such as the multi-quote button looking out of sync in the Native style, as well as a few image issues in Industrial. Those will be fixed eventually, but until I have the proper files to do so, they will have to make do.

That signature picture thing didn't work by me... what's the code for? :fuzemb:

Alcar 09-16-2006 05:53 AM

It appears you're trying to use an attachment in your signature, which won't work. Also, your signature image has to follow the OWF Rules, which state that the image can not be larger than 400px by 100 px (width x height) or greater than 35KB.

Creepy Doc 09-16-2006 06:06 AM

Okay, I tried to upload a smaller picture but it didn't work too. "Upload failed" anytime... what did I wrong?

Spirrow 09-16-2006 06:44 AM

And the Report Post icon at the top of people's posts allow normal members
to automatically call the staff to check out possible abuse or bad behavior
from other members, right?

Can you upload the image in your reply, so I can check it out?

That's correct. Although, that's been the same for every vBulletin release we've ever gone through :p

What do I have to do to convince you to reintroduce left postbits? This new apparition turns my eyeballs inside out.

Alcar 09-16-2006 07:21 AM

You're all WHINGERS, WHINGERS, WHINGERS!

Alcar...

Nate 09-16-2006 07:25 AM

But we do it with love...

*tries to think of something special to put on Alcar's cookie this time round*

From MSN:

('-') Rich says:
he's right
('-') Rich says:
the left hand postbit looks crap too
('-') Rich says:
owf is disgusting
('-') Rich says:
i just want to vomit over it

But thanks anyway Pete. :p

SeaRex 09-16-2006 09:38 AM

I can't see my spiffy new infractions system button on anyone's posts, Alcar. I've also completely refreshed and reset my browser, so that shouldn't be a problem...

Are any other mods having this problem?

EDIT: No animated signature images?! BULL SHIT!! XP

Havoc 09-16-2006 09:44 AM

Top Postbit Bar FTW!!!

:

You're all WHINGERS, WHINGERS, WHINGERS!

Hobo 09-16-2006 09:55 AM

The thing about the left postbit is it's too wide, like way too wide.

Go team Peter!

Personally, I don't like this new update. It stops mine and Rexy's (and anyone else that has a transparent background) signatures loading properly. When I upload the graphic to use in my signature it inputs a white background.

Since I only made Rexy's one early hours this morning, I'm especially annoyed. :(

skillya_glowi 09-16-2006 10:18 AM

...What the hell happened to my signature?
I am prepared to accept the fact that this new version has many amenities, but, dude...

oddlemm 09-16-2006 10:21 AM

lookin better and ok from the last one. ^^; heh

I am, I see no fancy red and yellow card buttons anywhere either. :p

Rex Tirano 09-16-2006 03:23 PM

I posted about this in EL.

I can't see one anywhere.

[And has my spiffy new banner died already :(]

Godlesswanderer 09-16-2006 03:34 PM

Grrrrr, seems like it's just mine then.

That was an error on my behalf. I had originally turned infractions off for all usergroups, as I wasn't going to implement it until vB3.6.1. But they've now been activated. SeaRex, you'll need to check out the related thread in Employee Lounge about Infractions as it has a little more information relevant to you.

It's because you're uploading PNGs. They aren't properly supported by GD, the same with GIFs, but GIFs fair better. Try turning your images into GIFs before you upload them. And animated signature images are allowed :p

Signatures have been overhauled. You'll need to edit it in order to make it compliant with the rules. The rules which have existed for a long time.

I always use the left postbit, so meh. Everything works fine for me, so far......

E'l Scrabino 09-17-2006 01:49 AM

What the hell's a postbit?

Nate 09-17-2006 02:17 AM

The bit on the left or top (depending on your settings) of a post that shows the poster's name, avatar, postcount, etc.

Wil 09-17-2006 03:31 AM

Hmmm. Everything looks swanky and fine to me, but I’m yet to try any of the new features. I can’t load the native style. I presume it’s not been done yet.

Grrrr ok :(. How come Rexy's is working if her's is a PNG?

Edit:

Damn new vBulletin! I just saved it as a GIF and uploaded it, it did the same as it did to my PNG.
Is there any way around this? Cos it'll annoy me if I keep seeing the white background and I know I'll end up changing it. And since it's the first thing that was ever made for me, I'd rather keep this one than change it.
