Could Sam appear in AO film?

I have been thinking about this for awhile but do you think Sam and the queens could appear in the first movie of the Oddworld Quintology?

Like maybe some kind of short introduction or narrated backstory scene of Abe's birth and enslavement into Rupture farms and then after that short 2 min intro scene the movie suddenly dessolves to the time of Abe's Oddessy. Sort of like the begining of Lord of the Rings where we saw the origin of the ring.

Sam

Possibly. If she did, I wonder if she'd have a speaking role and if so, who would voice her.

Spirrow 07-02-2006 04:43 PM

That sounds sort of like a good start of AO. But they really didn't
mention Sam until MO, so I think OWI would rather hold her
until whenever she was supposed to appear in a future movies
after AO.

Bullet Magnet 07-03-2006 02:10 AM

That's assuming that the film is of AO. I had a dream last night that they actually turned out to be making a beat 'em up crossover of Oddworld and Marvel characters. At the beta tesing OWI force fed me oranges and yoghurt, then I ran to the field near my house where it had turned into the Endor level of Star Wars Battlefront, and after that it gets a bit wierd.

You can't make this stuff up. :fuzemb:

Anyway, they might include her, but I think it depends on how much dialogue they can give the film when most of it is spent with the lead character on his own.

Lord Vulcher 07-03-2006 02:28 AM

I think there may be a good chance of her being in the movie. Maybe they might show us Skillya to!

Patrick Vykkers 07-03-2006 02:30 AM

Eh, Skillya will probably be revealed quite late in the Quintology. Gives an air of mystery to the woman.

E'l Scrabino 07-03-2006 02:31 AM

Holy-moley! Your sig is big as! (reffering to LV)

It would be very nice if the queens were shown, like Skillya chatting to Margeret and seeing Sam locked up behind them :)...

Woman? She's a Slig woman.

*sigh*

Why can't you people realise that the developments in the game are necessarily different to those that will be in the movie, simply because the action that works in a movie (which came first) doesn't translate to a game (which was the adaptation).

But in answer to the question, I'd say that Sam would only be revealed in the film in which she gets freed. If she is being held captive by the Vykkers, then I'd say that would be in the MO movie.

Lord Vulcher 07-03-2006 05:41 AM

Maybe Sam has a battle with Lady Margeret? :fuzconf:

Nate 07-03-2006 06:11 AM

I really doubt that Sam is up to that sort of thing. Her body shape is basically a big blob, so athleticism is not one of her virtues. Besides, she has some major issues with motivation, what with being depressed and drugged up and all, so I doubt she would put in the effort.

But I can imagine Maggie being one killer boss character.

I'd really love to see a boss fight in an Oddowrld game in which you have to fight Maggie. Why she wasn't in MO beats me.

Slaveless 07-03-2006 06:47 AM

I would doubt it. Sam is in Vykker Labs, and Lady Margeret is in Nabylon.

In my theory, the new auidance would understand the history of Mudos or Magog Cartel if they explained it in the beginning, rather than the middle. But that would ruin in how Abe knew this. Yet, AO is taking place in the past, so that means Abe could explain it on the way.

Vykkers Labs was destroyed, remember?

paramiteabe 07-03-2006 11:47 AM

Well it wouldn't be a very detailed scene if you get my drift. Take this scenerio for instance, The movie opens up with real creepy Oddworld sounds and music followed with captions talking about how a saviour will be born and he shall liberate the Mudokon race. Its still a black screen but you hear the "dun dun dun" sound from the games when you die followed with a slight howel of wind. Then the scene opens up to the chamber in which Sam is giveing birth. Its storming outside and it is, keep in mind really dark so you don't know where this is at, but as fans we are assumeing its Vykkers Labs. Shrienks are gathering eggs and putting them into transports as well as keeping Sam company. Suddenly Sam is going through another birth cycle and she gives birth to a different looking egg which is Abe. Sam stares at it and is in ah and wounder of this egg. It hatches, and a young blue Mudokon emerges. It starts to cry as it stares back at Sam. Suddenly the infant "Abe" still sitting in his broken shell is taken away and put into a transport destined for Rupture Farms nursery. A single tear roles down the eyes of Sam as Abe is being taken. Hardly much time for Abe to know Sam as being his mother. Over time Abe grows and vividly remembering Sam but doesn't know who Sam is until later in another movie ie: MO. End of scene and it dessolves to the time of AO where we see the intro movie of AO open up.

Thats what I was thinking but I dunno. I just thought it could bring to the table some sort of emotional side to Abe's story.

eradicate the glukkon queen in the second chapter won't leave much to do in the next chapters

who says there's only one Vykker Labs?

paramiteabe 07-03-2006 12:13 PM

Xav is correct there many Vykkers Labs and also there are many Rupture Farms and Soul Storm Breweries. Its just we saw the largest ones on Oddworld.

Zerox 07-03-2006 12:52 PM

I know from various sources that Sam is being held and watched over by Mudokons (slaves, presumely) and numerous Shrinks (heh) and she sits on a straw bed. She has the top of a Mudokon, but the abdomen is...a large blob, really. She was also designed with a nanny like face, so I'd expect her to have an old, kindly woman's voice.
The Glukkon queen has two designs. One is like a large worm with a huge head at the front, and calws down its length, while the other (final, I think) is the top of a Glukkon (arms, not as long as normal Gluks, vestigial legs etc.) and coming form her...well, a*s really is the main blob, not as large as Sam's but with numerous teats hanging off the sides. She is carried around by Kinto slaves.
I'd think she may be a boss, if not the only Glukkon queen in existance (I'd presume there's more than one over the whole world), and Sam would be resuced right near the end of the quintology, with a 'our future is secure' message, or rescued part way through and you continue to witness The Industrialists demise afterwards until they're pretty much eradicated or whatever.
I have no real comments on Skillya. Could appear any time.

Patrick Vykkers 07-03-2006 04:11 PM

Skillya

This is just me, but I have a theory that Skillya resides somewhere in a biiiiiig fortress. Sorta like Slig Barracks, but ten times bigger.

Mudoko_Jedi 07-03-2006 10:53 PM

yes It would make sence to keep her somewhere like that.

Personal duelling is below Lady Margaret.

Sam is indeed a loving granny-like figure, but she's also a temperamental pill-popping bitch.

Zerox 07-04-2006 05:26 AM

Well, I suppose that's because she's obviously been warped.
Where did you find that out, anyway?

Oddworld Movie Speculation

i was thinking??
oddworld is making a movie about Abe's Odyssey right?...or Abe?
so everyone knows most of the story about Abe's life as teenager....
it might be about Abe as a child growing up with Alf and the mud's in
rupture farms nurseries ...

and we might see Abe's mother ?

P.S
is Alf Abe's real brother???

Nate 07-09-2006 07:25 AM

I don't know why you've posted this twice but I guess I shall have to post my reply twice:

I doubt they would show his full life story as his history isn't relevant beyond the fact that he was a slave. Anything else can just be referred to in exposition.

All the muds are brothers as they all share a single mother, Sam.

Spirrow 07-09-2006 08:57 AM

Just the same as all glukkons are brothers even though they are
sometimes competitors.

Slaveless 07-09-2006 09:47 AM

I sort of doubt that we may see a movie about Abe's past life. And unless we see Sam giving birth to Abe's egg, I doubt that we will also see Sam.

Mega-mud! 07-09-2006 10:03 AM

just a thought!..

I know that... SAM is the Mudokon Queen and there isn't a pic of her??
or is there???
