New Legislation Concerning Signatures

Effective one week from now (25/3/06), all signatures must be modified so that they comply with the new rules regarding signatures. These rules have been brought in to spruce up the forums' image, as the current state of signatures is rather messy and 'all-over-the-place'.

The first, and most obvious change is the allowed dimensions of the one image you are allowed in your signature. It has been changed from 400px by 125px (width by height) to 400px by 100px.

Secondly, the use of quotes in signature, whereby the [QUOTE] BBCode is used. It is obvious that this BBCode takes up more than one line. Therefore, this will now be taken into account. The allowed limit of 4 lines of text will remain the same, but a quote will count for 3 lines.

Finally, should a signature just appear overboard, etc, we have the right to make any modifications we see fit. It is our goal to shorten the height a signature occupies, so that the focus in threads is to read the posts, not be distracted by flashing-neon signatures.

Should members not comply with the new rules by the set date, they will have their signature priviledges stripped from them for a period of two weeks. So don't make this any harder than it has to be, guys. It's really simple, and it'll make the forums look a like tidier.

Noooo! You monster! What shall become of my uber pwnage siggy? *cries*

Ah well... *wanders off to make a new one*

Godlesswanderer 03-18-2006 04:57 AM

I think all the signatures I've made are within the limits. So mine should be fine. If not someone PM me or something and I'll go about editing the ones that need to be changed.

Also, my signature. It's 5 lines technically but 4 lines of text. It that ok or will I have to take away the empty line.

AquaticAmbi 03-18-2006 07:07 AM

Hmm, not sure about the dimensions of my sig. How exactly do I figure this out? *Is computer illiterate* And the colorage is a pretty bright aqua... Does this count as flashy, neon colors distracting from the posts? :(

Scrab Watcher 03-18-2006 08:59 AM

Ambi, I took the liberty of checking your sig dimentions, and it's 357 x 95, so it's grand size-wise. I don't think it's too bright either, but that's just me.

Anyway, I'm gald this rule's coming in. The big sigs were starting to get a little annoying.

AquaticAmbi 03-18-2006 09:08 AM

Oh, thanks! That was really nice of you.

And I agree. Some of the really large sigs were getting a bit annoying. Though I still question if the colors in mine won't cause any epileptic seizures.

SeaRex 03-18-2006 10:20 AM

Bah. Lame.

I guess I'll have to change my signature later today. I really don't see a problem with it, though. It wouldn't take any more time to load than a regular 400 x 100 sig. I have no problem with signatures not being perfectly uniform, either.

You make such a loyal henchman, Luke.

Personally, I use the signatures more than the postbit to know who's posting, because the Forums don't have a fluid design (i.e. I have to scroll to the right to read posts). Now if we're going to enforce changes, I'm going to have to remember a new set of banners. Tosspot.

WTF?

*points at Max's computer thingy from the early 70's*

He's at 800 x 600... give the poor kid a break :P.

Splat 03-19-2006 06:20 AM

Actually I lack the ability to change my sig in any way. I know how but I wouldn't know how to get an edited version back at the ends of my posts as nature intended.

Any tips people? I'd rather be told how to do it myself than have someone do it for me.

T-nex 03-19-2006 05:57 PM

well ur siggy is 320x100 :S So i think you're out of danger...

Havoc 03-20-2006 02:28 AM

Thats because I just changed it for him :).

Oh well, thank god I only use my neon-sig on another forum!

Isn't it beautiful?

Fuzzleman54321 03-20-2006 07:03 AM

Yea..it is.

Is my sig okay anyone?

SeaRex 03-23-2006 05:26 PM

*sigh*

Everyone who has their Xbox360 GamerCard in their sig (like I used to) might as well remove it now, because it's a scant few pixels over the new, restrictive limit. I know that there's a couple others out there that have/had one in their sig.

Well fuck a duck, looks like my compy siggy must be sent to the camps for re loacation and extermination. *sigh*

Havoc 03-24-2006 12:19 AM

*waves goodbye to signature* Buhbye siggy! It's been great knowing you! *sniff*

Oddish 03-24-2006 03:35 AM

Jeez, so very tidy.

Oh fine, I've resized my sig by 2 pixels. If anyone has banner made by me that is too big and you don't want to loose it, just PM me and I'll resize it. Or make you another one if you wish.

About this new rule, if the hight has been cut off by 25 pixels, could you make the maximum size in width bigger? Like over 400pixels? I think that could still make the sigs look tidy.

Shrink 04-11-2006 05:03 AM

Hurrah. I'm glad of this rule, though my sig probably breaks the limit because I wanted to get in as much of the steef as possible without making him too small.
Nevertheless, hurrah!
