Report bugs here!

Sorry if there already a place for this, but I couldnt see it.

I'm currently watching someone on twitchtv, and theyre stuck at the secret area behind the rolling stone in Paramonia. They pull the lever the start the chainsaws and turn off the electricity, throw the meat through the chainsaws to kill the Paramites, and saves the mudokons. Then he tries pulling the lever again, but it stays activated and the electricity is still off the the chainsaws still moving fast.

EDIT: He restarted the chapter BUT still has same issue. Quite possibly a bug.

Not a bug, that's by design.

Ok thanks Alex :)

Varrok 07-22-2014 03:11 AM

The scrab in the first (i guess) Stockyard secret area got confused and turned from left to right instead of doing anything for a while.

Abe('s ragdoll) fell out of the map at the start of Monsaic Lines

Connell 07-22-2014 10:23 AM

I had the Scrab confusion issue also. I found myself purposely hanging back so he wouldn't be confused and stop dead in his tracks. And Abe fell through the floor at one point and glitched out instead of hanging onto a ledge. Nothing major though.

I did get stuck behind an electric fence in one of the last secret areas in the Free Fire Zone, where the intention I believe is to have 2 slogs run through it. I literally couldn't get out so I restarted the path and was absolutely gobsmacked that it took me RIGHT BACK to the beginning of the Stockyards outside the factory.

Absolutely gutted that about an hours worth of playtime was lost.
Not really a glitch but I think if it's possible in the next update maybe putting the path restart somewhere in the free fire zone after the Molluck cutscene, rather than all the way back at the factory which is a substantial distance away when secret areas are included. I was really quite frustrated and it has marred my experience of the game a bit as it has all seemed tedious for about an hour now.

Scrabaniac 07-22-2014 10:55 AM

Apparently you can sneak behind Scrabs, after watching some youtube gameplay! I thought they could smell you..

Wil 07-22-2014 11:01 AM

Wow, that's very tough. Especially since you could have just pulled the lever again to turn off the electric gate.

Out of interest, why didn't you try reseting to the most recent checkpoint first?

The checkpoint was within the area I was trapped in, I think. And I'd also quicksaved in there, I don't think I could get to the level. Oh well, onwards and upwards.

Also, I just did a speed-run of Rupture Farms (twice) and I'm pretty sure it was well under the best time on the leaderboard, but I don't seem to be showing up?

Connell 07-22-2014 02:28 PM

Apologies for the double post, but my game also randomly crashed at the end of Free Fire Zone. It said "An error has occurred" but I didn't record the exact number of the error. Just a heads up.

Scrabaniac 07-22-2014 02:46 PM

Just a little heads up too.. The final cutscene in the boardroom doesn't play if you kill the silgs after pulling the gas shut off lever. You just end up stranded.

Crashpunk 07-22-2014 03:04 PM

So far. I've found a few very minor glitches which did solve themselves, but I might as well bring them up just because. (You'll see them if you watch my Let's Play)

When I triggered the alarm (the third set in Stockyards) a Mine killed me. But when I respawned, the mine was in the wrong place and was in the way of where I needed to go. It did however fix itself once I quickloaded.

A found a few in the secret with the Scrab chase (back and forth to save Mudokons) The Scrab suddenly stopped chasing me a few times. It did however see me again and the chase continued once I walked around a bit.

Unsure if this was a bug or if I was out of it's line of sight.

Anyway. I'll let you know if anything major comes up. My let's play will serve as evidence of any problems that occur as well.

Connell 07-22-2014 03:04 PM

One major bug I've noticed is those rhymes.

They're fucking awful. Sack whoever was in charge of them ASAP.

Scrabaniac 07-22-2014 03:15 PM

Actually there was a typo in one of them..
"Mudokons learn the hard way to follow rules.. When a slig yells "FREEZE!" The wise Mudokon hits the deck.." - Shouldn't it be "LOOK OUT!"?

MeechMunchie 07-22-2014 04:11 PM

Roll on Twice ze Flavour suggestion thread

I always read that LCD screen as "When a Slig shouts, look out!" and then was slightly disappointed that it kept going.

You're overreacting there. they are no different than Abe's narration in terms of quality.

My style of comment is often tongue in cheek and over the top. Of course I don't actually want anyone fired. The rhymes just seem a bit colloquial (to Earth...) and forced.

EDIT: So this just happened to me.

Apologies for the fact it's filmed on my phone. I have no other way of capturing gameplay at the moment.

Further edit:

My game also just inexplicably crashed after jumping in the well at the end of the Parmonian nests.

Holy Sock 07-22-2014 04:56 PM

I mean this is the same series that uses "schmuck" all the time.

Havoc 07-23-2014 08:37 AM

Few things I noticed.

The first Mudokon asking for a password. Elum kept getting in the way of the well so I figured the well didn't work. I proceeded to (quite easily) just guess the password and skipped the entire puzzle to get the password in the first place. It's easy to guess because the Mudokon instantly lets you know when you make a mistake but lets you keep going when you're on the right track. So it's easy to guess the password through trial and error.

And the secret with the paramites and the grinders and the meat... You're dicks. That puzzle took no less than 30 tries before I managed to get lucky. Those fast grinders are almost impossible to time with the clunky controls. Are they actually slower or do less damage on easy?

And the stage in the Paramonian temble with the 2 sligs, I eventually figured that you could distract them and sneak behind them. But seriously, that could have used a hint or two.

Holy Sock 07-23-2014 08:47 AM

They say on the LED screen inn RuptureFarms that you can use the bottlecaps to distract your enemies.

EDIT: I don't think any of those are bugs, though.

Scrabaniac 07-23-2014 09:16 AM

I was fine with the Elum thing, Although telling him to wait never works. I've already mentioned in another thread about that paramonian temple secret. It is horrific! There is no skill there, only luck. Especially when the meat only lasts 5 seconds and you have to roll through ridiculously fast meat grinders :P

Are people complaining that a section in Hard mode was actually pretty hard?

Connell 07-23-2014 10:29 AM

I've just completed the game on hard with 292 Mudokons, but I'm not showing up on the leaderboard? I also speedran Rupture Farms and Scrabanian nests faster than some of the top 10 and I'm not showing up there either. Is the leaderboard not fully functional yet, or do I have to press something to allow my scores to be sent?

EDIT: Nevermind - I'm there.

Also, just after I finished the credits, I came out of the save file, and when I went back it had gone. Just completely gone. Fair to say I'm a bit pissed off. Anyone else experienced this?

EDIT: So my save is still there, but the picture and stats on the sort of Mudokon memory card thing are gone.. It looks like an empty slot. Any advice JAW?

I guess it would depend on if the saws are actually easier to get through on lower difficulties.

No it's absurdly hard. It's much harder than the rest of the game on hard. At the end I relied on luck as well. Tweaking of the saws might be needed but that's not really a bug.

I've had some bugs, for instance in RF2 when pulling a certain lever I was teletransported right in a pit I crossed half a minute ago. Very strange. I had to go out of the zone and back to stop this behavior. Nothing game breaking.

JennyGenesis 07-23-2014 11:36 AM

The last secret area in the free fire zone was impossible I think due to a bug. When I came out the portal the two slogs killed me instantly. The checkpoint clicked so I kept respawning there but each time the slogs would kill me instantly. I was stuck in a death loop and had to click restart chapter and skip the secret area. Im on normal difficulty by the way

We're having a few issues with save slots. Apparently it'll re-appear if you continue with it and save again. At the moment it might be worth dumping them onto a USB stick now and again.

We're also aware of the crash bugs. We've fixed most of them (so I'm told) and we're rushing out another patch ASAP once we've fully tested the changes.

Scrabaniac 07-23-2014 01:13 PM

I also had an issue with the last free fire zone secret. the slogs never woke up unless i ran into them. and the birds wouldn't arrive because the slogs were there. Managed to fix it by restarting the chapter though.

Also the scrabania bit with the two mines that you roll under with the sligs in the background, because of how slow abe rolls, the sligs kill you all the time. Luckily my game glitched out and the mines never exploded.

Vykker Lady 07-23-2014 04:07 PM

Anyone else having audio issues? Every once in a while a certain sound effect doesn't play like it should: Abe runs into a wall, he grunts but the smack doesn't play. A slig is on the edge of the screen, he motions to say something but there's nothing. I'll quicksave and it doesn't make a noise. I think at one point slogs had no audio whatsoever...?

Just weird instances like that.

Yes to both of these. The scrabania bit made me want to kill myself. Died about 400 times there. Had to chant and make them go mental and roll and hope for the best. I definitely think that part is broken.

I got this too. The amount of times I said "All O' Ya" and they all stood up, but I got no reply. My quicksave noise stopped several times too and sometimes sounds just didn't play at all. It was most prominent in the Zulag 1 return section, particularly in the section where there is Shrykull portal down the trap door that didn't have anything in before it (If you know where I mean.) The background music also stopped in the boardroom when I died, which really hindered the tense atmosphere.

Sometimes, the background music in general seems so loud compared to the sound effects. I tried adjusting it but I could never seem to find a happy medium. I could barely hear any of the slig voice lock door things. I had to really listen to get what I had to say.

On a similar note, when I died and respawned, a lot of the UXB's little wing things that spin around didn't load. But when I tapped them to de-active them they randomly reappeared.

This happened to me too. Had to start all the way back at Stockyards because I was indefinitely stuck.

I got this in the Scrabanian temple. Whenever I tried to view the story stone with the bell tune in the trial that has the slog kennel, it kept shooting me back out of the well above the slog kennel. Happened about 20 times before I managed to be able to get the tune.

Also, I can't seem to start a new save file to try and to some speedruns. Whenever I load a new save file, it instantly copies all my data from my complete game, including all times and mudokons saved, no matter what difficulty I go on. I really want to speedrun some levels because I know I can get it quicker than the top people on the leaderboard. I played through Rupture Farms 4 times earlier to try and get it to save my time score but it just wasn't having it.

I honestly think JAW should have let some of us test this game. I swear there are so many minor flaws that could have been ironed out by letting me loose with this thing for 2 days.

Holy Sock 07-23-2014 05:23 PM

Ah well, sure patches are coming as early as next week. I mean JAW cannot afford the sheer level of playtesting, I imagine, that a juggernaut like Valve can. And with a big 2.5D platforming Unity game I imagine the amount of potential bugs can be enormous.

If they'd handed out codes, I'd have done it for free, kept my mouth shut about absolutely anything, and paid for the game later on. I'd rather have done that than make someone face some of the annoying situations I went through first time round, e.g my game crashing twice and not being able to do fuck all to save it.

Holy Sock 07-23-2014 05:40 PM

Well at least people who pick it up in a couple of weeks, and players on every other platform, won't be encountering these bugs (hopefully they being the only real game breaking bugs).

Also, I'm not sure they could just get some of us to playtest. I could be wrong but I imagine it wouldn't be as simple as handing out codes to a few OWF members. There's probably playtesting organisations or something. I dunno.

EDIT: and I'm not sure sure they'd actually want members of OWF picking apart their game in front of them. And it's probably always best to playtest new players - since JAW themselves can pretty much stand in for veteran players.

You make it seem like I'm out to offend and berate their work. This is by no means true. I'm simply reporting back what I've witnessed. The rest is near perfect and I thoroughly enjoyed playing through the game, however this is a thread created specifically for reporting problems. All I'm saying is I wish we'd had the opportunity to report some of these basic things (e.g my save completely disappearing or the game just shutting down) even a week beforehand. I agree it probably wouldn't be as simple as "here's a code, go test", but I think I have some sort of a point in there somewhere, I hope! :-)

Getchapants 07-23-2014 05:56 PM

Only happened once but I killed 2 sligs and afterwards you could still hear them walking and talking.

OWI_Alex 07-23-2014 09:28 PM

Just a note to say we're truly sorry that the crash bugs made it into the game. We've identified them and have fixed them (so I'm told) and we'll get a patch out ASAP.

Again, truly sorry.

All good, your save systems in game are superb and they remember my last quick save at times so nothing was lost at all. Just had to reboot the game and it was waiting at where i was at.

Oddey 07-24-2014 01:24 AM

I've been having a few audio issues as well, though I'm not sure they're all strictly speaking bugs.

Sometimes the volume levels seem really out of place and strange, like a slig shooting from the background is really quiet, while the UXB bombs seem really loud. In the Abe's Moon cutscene as well, the music seems much louder than the narration, to the point where it's very hard to make out Abe's speech.

Sometimes the dynamic music isn't very responsive, such as with slogs, where the chase music doesn't actually trigger at the right time (like when they don't actually follow after you).

Every now and again, a sound won't play as well. Not sure what causes this, but particularly speech seems to be affected by this.

Scrabaniac 07-24-2014 01:37 AM

I have to admit my game froze in Zulag 4 with a slig voice lock. I really enjoyed playing the game, but unfortunately all the bugs kinda ruined the experience for me :/ I would like to play through it again after a bug patch, so I can in a sense give the game another try. Before anyone accuses me, no I'm not throwing shade, I'm stating my experience truthfully. The gameplay is amazing when it goes right. But there are definately parts even on hard mode that are very repetitive, like trying to get through meat saws over and over, and the scrabania part with the background sligs and trying to run past sligs in Zulag 2/3 which never works. I still love the game and the story, I still love and appreciate the JAW team because I know it has been hard work for them. I have no doubt you will sell over 25K copies :)
