The grrrrrreatest game of 2007.
A little in house acknowldgement to the game of the year, I need submissions to put together a poll for this, so the most voted on games here will then be put there.

Orange Box.
|
Sneak King.
|
Battletoads.
<.< >.> |
Sam & Max Series 1
Technically, it began in 2006 but most of the episodes came out this year. And it's the only new game I've played all year, poor me. |
Was it even that good? I considered getting it but thought twice when I saw its previews.
|
Well you have to like adventure games and appreciate the absurdist humour of the series. There was certainly enough there to keep me occupied (eps 4&5 especially).
|
Either TF2 or Crysis
|
Super Mario Bros.
Alternatively, RBI Baseball. |
Absolutely not Crysis. I say Portal.
|
Bioshock or Assassin's creed
didn't play the orange box yet :s |
Orange box is not a game. It is 3 games.
And Nate's choice is awesome. |
Halo 3 anyone? :(
Although I do admit halo isn't that good so why is it so famous? I don't actulay own Bioshock but I've rented it out from the Blockbuster. It's probably my favourite. |
Psychonauts.
Psychonauts is the best game of every year. |
Agreed.
I'm not sure how I feel about Tim Schafer's new project, though. It looks...okay. |
I bet It'll be funny. I am not a fan of heavy metal but I think I will enjoy this.

BioShock - No doubt has the best art direction, but that doesn't make it GotY. Also, has no replay value after a mere two playthroughs. Lose.
HL2: Ep 2 - Expansion packs don't count, even really good ones. Lose. Portal - Despite my rampant fanboyism for this game, it's only two hours long, and the challenges you unlock after you beat the full game do little to extend its life. Lose. TF2 - Cool art direction. Multiplayer only. Lose. Orange Box (overall) - Will never win, no matter how good of a package it is. Redefines "cult hit" just by the sheer amount of people that aren't playing it. Lose. Halo 3 - Kill yourself. Lose. Mass Effect - Slutty, overrated garbage. Lose. ... So, overall, I'm going with Call of Duty 4. Even though the single player isn't as good (or long) as CoD2, it's still a solid game, and has incredible multiplayer. Wouldn't mind if Orange Box showed up as GotY on a few lists, but I'm expecting CoD4 to take the cake. No offense, Portal. |
ohh, well I like Viva pinata (http://a.deviantart.com/avatars/k/i/killitwithfire.gif) yes I KNOW. Well I dont know when it was made or whatever, but I like. Oh and HALO 3 mwhaha. And Bioshock, thats quite wikked, in a warped way XD
|
I don't want to put Halo 3 on this list, as stupid as that sounds, I know, but I don't find it any more exciting or fun than any other monotonous shooter, like, say Serious Sam.
|
Crysis
Gran turismo Abe's odyssey |
It's quite clearly about 2007. only one of your games was released then.
Instant fail. |

Halo 3, simply because I made my elite pink and pale blue.
And killing people with a pink and blue alien hefting a clumsy flamethrower is Awesome and Win, Ne? Because really, video games are about fun, no matter how much that cast-iron shaft up yer butt screams "INTEGRITYDIGNITYDONTPLAYGAMESTHATARERELATEDTOAPARTICULARCULTUREYOUSUPERIORBASTARD", Just find something you find fun, and play it. You know it, ne? |
What did i tell you about screen stretching ghost?
|
It's not stretching for me, ne?
|
Then use a decent theme like Industrial:P That post stretched my screen!
|
Seriously? I use Industrial.
You must have a pretty small screen, ne? |
I'm using a widescreen laptop, but it's moving the borders of the page and stop with the fucking ne? or bantime.
|
Bioshock!!
|
don't say ne, say 'saru doshi desu!!!!!'.
People slagging Halo is so very normal now, it's worse than avid Halo fans going 'omgomgmogmasterchef'. I liked Halo 3, that being said I didn't play many games this year as I've lost all motivation to do so. completely cant be fucked with orange box, Portal would be nice but mabye as a cheap XBL arcade game. |
Halo 3/Portal/Psychonauts!!!
|
I love how everyone thinks that shooters were the best game.
Faiking Fucl. |
I haven't been able to afford any other games besides Halo 3 this year, but I did have the time to play some other great games besides Halo 3. However, I really enjoyed Halo 3 not just because I'm a huge fan of Bungie or Halo, but because it was a lot of fun for me and it was great to "Finish the Fight." Furthermore, I am still enjoying multiplayer and playing it everyday quite a bit. I know some love or hate the campaign, I personally enjoyed it this time and it gave the right blend of nostalgia with enough new flavor and interesting gameplay to keep me coming back for more.
That being said, I don't believe it deserves "Game of the Year." There were plenty of great games this year and I'm excited to see the consensus on which one will take the crown. If we go on originality I really have to say Bioshock takes the cake. I know it's another FPS, but it's definately different than any other FPS I've seen or experienced and in the case of originality that goes a long way. In terms of overall fun and great game experiences every time I'd have to say Mass Effect or the Orange Box would come close with H3 for me as well and of course throw Assassin's Creed (I enjoyed it) in the mix. |
Trophy Bucks. Seriously, if woulda' been a big hit if that stupid Bungie didn't release Halo 3 the same day.
|
You wouldn;t happen to have heard of a certain group of gents called Mega 64, would you alf?
|
Ugh. Die halo, DIE!!
either earthworm jim or silent hill 1. What's orange box? |

I'd go for Portal. I played the flash version and it was VERY satisfying. I can't imagine how much fun the real thing is.
I haven't even played halo3 yet, and I can tell it's all going downhill from here. That shitty cliffhanger at the end pretty much killed it for me, and the only reason I would buy halo3 is to kick my cousin's ass, and possibly some ten year old who doesn't know proper english. That's probably the reason everybody else bought it too. Negative vote. But my fangirl ties won't let me not buy it! I'm surprised nobody's voted for twilight princess yet. |
