I s'pose I could drive downtown and take a few snapshots (that is if it hasn't been painted over by cops or other artists). I mainly just draw my name and occasionally write "PWN-what does it mean?". :p

So you don't actually design anything on paper before you go out and do it for real?

I do. I had lost the original papers a long time ago and I've grown so acustomed to painting the same thing that I don't need them anymore. I guess if I were to find time to do it again, I'd draw a new design.

Keep at it! Practice on pen and paper a lot, keep the skill going, look at what other artists do. Try and imitate styles and font faces etc...

It's something you pick up after a while. It starts out crap then it gets better. But it's best to start out on paper first, before you move on to bedroom walls, then out on to the street.

But the most important thing, is to look at what the really good guys do. Try and figure out what the best ways to form words are. Take inspiration from the artists you like most. You get the idea.

When I first started, I did it entirely in private. Nobody ever saw my work, because I knew they would just laugh, so I kept it to myself. Gradually, as I got better, I started showing my friends, showing fellow artists, and they gave me tips on how to form words and stuff. Then after a while, I was totally unafraid to show my work publicly.

http://www.graffiti.org/ is a good place to start, look at some work there, get some ideas.

I have a very unique style, it's recognisable anywhere once you've seen it.

No offense SS but it sounds a lot like you're just bragging about your self proclaimed skills, but not backing them up with anything. So come on man lets see what you can do if you're so good! Go to that site and write something, or take photos of your works or whatever.

I mean, why else would you tell us about how good you are? Come on man lets have some content! ;)

This is not art, not graffiti... the graffiti is that you post first, this just a crap (or sg) sentence, the real graffiti is looks like that in your first post...

You obviously didn't get the joke. Cyber-Slig thought I was disrespecting his work when actually I was just commenting about the fact that it wasn't appearing on the forum properly.

But that style of writing is part of graffiti. Graffiti as a whole includes everything associated with it, and that "crap" as you call it, comes under the catagory of graffiti.

Graffiti as an art form is debateable. I'm not going to get into a discussion here about what parts of graffiti are art and what parts aren't. In my mind, since every piece of work I produce has a considerable amount of work put into it, it's all art. I love graffiti, any graffiti. I think it's an essential part of modern, urban culture, which is more than just a form of hip-hop culture vandalism associated with bad nieghbourhoods and poor borough funding.

If you don't like it, that's fine, but you don't need to disassociate and distance that form of graffiti from the rest of graffiti by considering it to not be what you would call "real graffiti". If it's writing, and it's on a wall, then it's graffiti. You can't decide what is and isn't graffiti man, what's "real graffiti" to you may not be so "real" to the next person and his brother.

I just can't get over the blatant wrongness of that statement.

I mean, first of all, art is hung in a gallery, and not a museum. Secondly, graffiti is not just restricted to bathrooms, although that said I've never even seen any graffiti in the public restrooms where I live. Graf is all over the place.

But may I say that before you go off deciding what is art and what isn't, that you take a good look at what you consider to be "art". Because at the moment, I'd say your idea of art is very cliched, and uncultured.

Oh god, this is by far the worst graffiti I've ever done. I'm so embarassed. You'd think someone who spends as much on the computer as he does graffing would have mastered this.

It isn't as bad as you make it out to be.
Is that your design that you were telling us about...or something else?
