Things you hate in one of the OW games...
Ok... I'm bored and I thinking... anyone loves oddworld in this forums... but there are things i hate in ow... like in the AO... too hard to find secret areas, and that areas I find in AO is very hard to do it... So... Go on...
|
AO:
bats swinging balls MO: the cartoon aproach |
In Abe's Oddysee, and Abe's Exoddus I have no qualms. I think everything was great, including the bats and bees. I think not including them in AE was a bad thing though, I really missed them, along with Fire Flies.
Munch's Oddysee, in its own right (so, not basing it on what it could have been) was far too easy. It was repetitive to some extent, but I really didn't mind most of the puzzle / strategy events. Possibly because they were too easy as I just said, or not :p Alcar... |
I don't like the lack of abilities of both Abe and Munch in MO, but mostly in Abe, since he could do so much more in Exoddus.
What generally pisses me off is how many abilities they took out, Especially Shrykull. I miss that crazy half-god. |
Yeah, I missed the bees, and the elum in Ae... but i hate those bats!
I never played MO, cuz I do not have an Xbox, but I heard that, 3d is make the game too easy... And in Ae, I hate and love the mine cars, cuz they're fun, but I have a... bad Ae, and there are no music and when I drive a mine car, after 2 hours I still heard the sound of the mine car... |
LOL
Well, What I hate in AO: - No quikesave!! (Jeez, did I had frustrating moments from time to time. And ppl where even saying: 'Why are you so grumpy?' - The poor video quality (Which is to blame on my comp instead of the game ofcourse.) - The way to easy puzzle's inside the zulags. (At least the secrets gave a challenge!) Things I hate in AE: - Absolutely nothing! This game improved everything I hated in the first game :D. MO: - At some moments the video's, is it just me or did some of the video's have less details then the AO and AE one's? - The Cartoon thing... - Abe's 'stoned' look ingame. - Way to much time with Abe (For a game where Munch is the main character... we hardly got to play him.) - And maybe even... just... I dunno. Maybe going to 3d didnt help so well either... |
Well... I love the cartoon thing... it make me laugh... mostly the Gabbiar Auction...
(I seen all FMV-s from Mo.... cuz I have a ripped dvd... but I can't find a good emulator...) |
A bit of a negitive thread, but... i don't like the Earthly things in, and those Clakkerz. Everything else said.
|
Yeah ...
MO was my first Oddworld game, and though it isn't quite up to the standards AO and AE set, it still pulled me back to check out the first games. But even before I had Abe's games to compare it to, I felt that MO was geared more towards Abe than Munch. A lot of the puzzles (the way I played through) weren't meant for Munch to solve. I mean, okay, Oddworld is about having the underdog as a hero, but Munch doesn't have any natural strength. MAybe if there had been an underwater level or two for Munch, instead of forcing him to stay on the surface, it could've been more of a challenge. I dunno. Whatever. |
In AO, I hated:
- Not being able to operate a platform if you're falling onto it and holding down. Instead, Abe just crouches, letting that damned Scrab kill you. Irritating! In AE: - The missing bees, bats, hint flies, order bombs and swinging balls. I liked all of those things in AO, they brought great tension to the gameplay. In MO: - The level design: endless cliffs covered with fog at the edge of each outdoor level, Venods placed exactly where you need them, but seemingly without any other purpose, floating bits of metal, etc. - The environments were okay, but rather naff. Factories were sparklingly clean. Outdoor places were boring and monotonous. - The design of Meeps and Fuzzles. - The use of SpooceShrubs. - A cartoony FMVs and overuse of musical SFX (every single time Munch hops, for instance *tears brains out*) And with no specific game (yet released): - The design of Clakkerz, and general uninteresting-ness of later character designs (blobs and salamanders, mostly). - Some species names: Interns, Chroniclers, Ratz. - The overuse of the goddamned 'z's. Argh! |

|
I think they left those out cuz it all got to close to earth, afterall this is al supposed to hapan on a diffrent plannet.
|
I missed those bombs, too... and the fireflies... and elum...
I not like the species of the OW4... not the steef... the others... |
Bats I know were left out precisely because so many players found them annoying.
I left one out of MO. The system that allows Abe and Munch to approach and use objects without you having to align them so perfectly was great - until you got Mudokons. If you don't grab one, you jump, and they all turn to face Abe after you've spent ages getting them to face a certain way. Or if there's a Vendo nearby, Abe will give up and go swig an Expresso. |
yeah that's because the "A" button was overloaded, but from what I read it wont happen again, OWI learned the lesson ;)
|
Yes, OWI made little use of the other buttons. 'A' was the "action" button for just about everything like pulling levers, drinking vendo items, jumping, grabbing, it never ends. I expect that there may be a few button combos in the works for Stranger, most shooting games have that kind of thing, unless they mapped it out in such a way.
|
Ugh....
I had nothing wrong with the cartoon thing in MO, and DON'T say it's just cuz I'm a kid! :flames:
AO: Bats, Bees. MO: How everything appeared to be up in the clouds because of all the cliffs! Too many cliffs. Spooce, I hated going around re-growing it all the %$%@&%$ time! It was over too soon (I beat it in a week, yet waited three years for it to come out)! :crying: :( :crying: |
After this... I think about that I wanted the Mo now... *thinking* yes...
|
MO: haven't played yet.
AO: i hate the voices. bah. AE: nearly perfect. i want more video sequences. .:VaniLLaKiLLah:. |
In AO I found it annoying that there was no quicksave, but being as I didn't know it was invented I got by. It's just annoying when you play AO after getting used to AE. Also, I found the Bats v. annoying. In AE there wan't much to go wrong but I get annoyed with motion dectectors and when there are too many touch bombs to deactivate.
|
AO: Some of the secret areas were just strange, kinda difficult to guess what to do, and then you play it again and realise theres a slightly easier way to do it. I thought the bats and bees were fine.
AE: Brilliant game. Didnt mind the fact that two things that tried to kill me werent there. There were like 5 new awesome ones! Fireflies? eh, werent that interesting anyway. MO: The fact that it was on X-Box! I have a PS2 dammit! |
And? I don't have xbox and ps2, too...
|
Well that means I can't have MO. ...duh :fuzconf:
And I dont like the fact that I cant have it. ...duh :fuzconf: And thats the reason I put the fact the MO was on X-box was the bit I didnt like. ... ... ...duh :fuzconf: lol, I'm kidding with the 'duh' stuff here ...duh :D |

|
I want it it's not fair!!!!! I don't have an x-box and the new game (Not that new now though) sounds really good. *has a tantrum*
|
:
After a while, I got anxious to play again, and I re-installed it again. Never payed attention, but when I got to Slig Barracks, I could hear the cool music! So my advise: re-install! Oh, things I hate about the OW Games: AO: Nothing. AE: Nothing. (I know, gets boring :p) MO: I could live with the cartoony look, but I found the game too "Happy". Could've been a lot darker. Also, I hated the way GameSpeak was altered. No more: Hi!, Follow Me!, Work! *Whistle, wistle* and stuff... |

AO:
-nothing, loved it. AE: -havent played it. MO: -i got stuck at a point and went straight to action replay. |
AO- hated the bats, loved the fireflies. Hated the lack of quicksave. Loved the music- set the mood perfectly..
AE- hated those big rows of bone drills slamming down to a beat you could dance to...Loved whuppin Gluks. The music was ok but not as good as AO. Loved quicksave. I missed the night scenes in MO- every outdoor environment was a bright sunny day. Made the Paramites seem a little out of character. I had some brief hope in mudokon pens when Abe and Munch started in that forest- maybe having to dodge among trees while paramites came down out of the treetops- only to find it was just that one 'room. As for the music- Didn't care for it much- that monotonous theme got on my nerves... And I missed the Gluks actually seeming to have some sort of reaction...Their proud banter made me want to slap some of em... I would've loved to see much have some underwater capabilities too. Also some of those huts tantalized me. I'd buy a re-release of it if they re-vamped the game with a few extra goodies in it. I have a sneakin suspicion that OWI canceled the end level with Munch alone- Abe takes the Vykker suites and Munch takes the Armory(?)... I'm guessing because of the newspaper FMV |
AO- I'd played AE first, so playing this game with no quicksave was my only qualm.
AE- I loved the game. No problems. MO- No Comment. -oddguy By the by, why must we bring up MO with negativity? Lorne said MO broke his heart. We can't change what happened, so let's be nice and look forward to the future of Oddworld. |
